lost+found missing, Bug or feature?
Hi,
I noticed that some of my ext3 partitions have a lost+found directory
and some do not. Which is correct? mke2fs -j makes the lost+found
but after a fresh install of 7.2 there are no lost+found on
partitions that were formatted. I want to make them all the same but
I am not sure which is correct. I do not plan on going back to
ext2 but.........

Ext3-0.0.5b in Roswell installation?
Hi!
I've upgraded my seawolf to ext3fs with the packages from Roswell (kernel,
filesystem, mount, ....), but when doing 'tune2fs -j', it mentions 'Ext3fs
version 0.0.5b'...?
Isn't version 0.0.7a the latest?? Why isn't that version included in the
Roswell kernel, but an older version is? And how can i upgrade my version of
ext3fs?
Thanks!

how do I get my data in matrix form?
Hi,
I am trying to convert the SPSS data that I imported using the package foreign into a matrix form in R. I tried using write.table() and cbind() but the output still looks bizzarre. I have about 104 columns and 21143 rows. Is the size of the the data causing a problem?
Here was my approach
mydata<-("file location",max=0)
mydata
cbind(mydata) #doesnt work well
write.table(mydata)

hd sometimes 'hangs' a few seconds
hi,
I recently changed my filesystem to ext3 (from ext2), and since then, my hard
disk sometimes seems to 'hang' a few seconds (in fact the whole system hangs
then, and only the hd LED is on), before continuing normally... This happens
for example (not always though) when I untar an archive and try to ls in the
newly created directory...
Is there an explanation for this?
And if so,

Nope. VMware?s memory ballooning feature purposely keeps some of the guest?s RAM locked away from the kernel. This is where RAM comes from when another guest needs more physical RAM than it currently has access to:

alternate tick labels and tick marks with lattice xyplot
Hi,
I would like to use xyplot to create a figure. Unfortunately, I cannot find
documentation in xyplot to specify alternating the x-axis tick labels with
the x-axis tick marks. I can do this with the regular R plot function as
follows.
#A small version of my data looks like this
data<-data.frame(matrix(ncol=3,nrow=12))
data[,1]<-rep(c(1,2,3),c(4,4,4))
data[,2]<-rep(c(1,2,3,4),3)

user.dll problems
Hi, I'm having problems getting Half-Life to setup using Wine.
I have RedHat Linux Roswell, and no windows files. I used the autosetup
utility to install Wine and it seemed to work. After fixing my wine
config I went to run a windows app.
When I run the setup.exe file I get this message:
err:module:BUILTIN_LoadModule loaded .so but dll user.dll still not found

Forte Agent Socket Problems
Hi All,
I'm a newbie to WINE, and for my first application I'm trying to set
up Forte Agent RedHat Linux (Roswell). I can run it fine (well, there
is a constant flow of error messages on my console, but the program
window still looks allright). But I can't connect to the internet.
This is the message I keep getting:
fixme:winsock:_get_sock_fd handle 164 is not a socket (GLE 6)

Question About Relocating Journal on Other Device
Hi. I'm using e2fsprogs 1.23 on a Roswell system with a patched 2.4.7
kernel (using patch ext3-2.4-0.9.5-247) and am trying to create an ext3
filesystem whose journal is located on another device. The incantation I'm
trying is:
mke2fs -j -J device=/dev/hdc2 /dev/hdc3
I keep getting an error along the lines of "mke2fs: Journal superblock not
found". I've tried creating

Linux ate my RAM...
Hello everyone,
Excuse the title. I'm trying to do something very specific that goes
against some common assumptions.
I am aware of how Linux uses available memory to cache. This, in
almost all cases, is desirable. I've spent years explaining to users
how to properly read the free output.
I'm now trying to increase VM density on host systems (by host, I mean

Need some advice please.
Hi,
I am looking for a solution to the following problem. We currently have
a mixed network of Linux, NT4 servers/workstations, win9x, and
W2K workstations in an NT4 domain with an NT4 machine acting as a PDC.
We slowly migrating the NT4 server functions to Linux as much as possible.
We would like to set up samba as the DC and take the NT4 DC off line.
The question is what is the best way to

FW: help with mclust

Dear all,
I am attempting to model some one-dimensional data using Gaussian mixture model with mclust.? Generally, the data that I have have 3 overlapping populations (with one of them being the majority, and the other two combining to less than 15%) and for some reason, mclust consistently ignores the smaller peaks, giving me strange values for the means

Question on best way of configuring this
I have a Windows XP machine that I don't use very often, but I leave it
powered up because once in a blue moon I need to remotely access it (eg
from work), and to keep the Antivirus software up to date. When I do use
it at the console I'm mostly doing basic video editting or transcoding
(eg from transferred TiVo content). I sometimes play older games on it
(eg Carmaggedon or Worms 2;

Suggested Patch: Adding commas to list of packages after R CMD check
Dear R-devs,
Scenario:
When checking a package via `R CMD check package_tar.ball`, required / suggested packages may be missing. R subsequently returns a list of packages that are missing (delimited by spaces).
Example:
```
R CMD check glmSparseNet_0.99.13.tar.gz
* using log directory '/home/ubuntu/Bioconductor/glmSparseNet.Rcheck'
* using R Under development (unstable) (2018-06-06
