upgraded from Samba 2.2.8a to Samba 3.0.0 now mount smbf does not work? update
I have upgraded from a almost perfectly working Samba 2.2.8a to Samba 3.0.0, I wished to
join my NAS servers to the
domain and it seemed something to do with DNS authentication was stopping them from joining,
so I upgraded to Samba 3

smbf errors
Hello,
I can't mount shares of some servers since I use kernel 2.6.x. As it works
with smbclient and also with smbmount on kernel 2.4.x, I assume the problem
lies within smbfs.
Kernel version: 2.6.8.1
Samba version: 3.0.4
Dist: Debian unstable
I get errors when I try to mount a share from OS/2 4.0:
1) smbmount
everything's fine
2) cd into the mounted dir
smbfs output:

Busy file and partial transfer??
Hi,
I actually wrote about this issue over a year ago and got a response
from Wayne which I'm thinking resolved the problem. Now I've got the
issue again, even though I removed the option that appeared to be the
culprit.
Basically I'm using rsync to backup a directory structure on a 2003
Server, and there are a couple of files that are in use and locked. On
is a PST file, and a few

Samba windows mount problem - some files and directories can't be seen even though they exist!
Hi.
I have mounted a Windows 2000 Pro computer under linux using:
mount -t smbfs -o username=phill,password=xxxxx //winbox/drivec /mnt/winbox
I can then jump into /mnt/winbox/ and navigate around the Win 2000 box.
But...
For some reason some of the files and directories on the windows
computer are not showing up.
For example, I have just moved a heap of wav files for our
audio-processing

Samba 3.0.25b: smbd 99% CPU utilisation with opened MS Word doc
Hi I'm trying to upgrade from Samba 3.0.23c on FC4 to 3.0.25b from Samba
sources.
Everything appears to function correctly until an MS word document is
opened from a share - the file opens but the smbd process in question
rockets to 99%+ CPU, stays there & needs kill -9'ing to stop it. This
happens reliably.
I have an appropriate strace & a level 7 log but can't see anything

I will make an attempt to include all the necessary info.
Description of Problem:

for full access to a specific user name. The share is browsable and

# mkdir data
# mount -t smbfs -o username=xxxx,password=xxxx //CHEDDAR/data data

multiple mounts for a smbfs on the same mount point
Hi all,
I'm just wondering why smbmount allows the same mount point to mount several
times the same share while a normal mount operation (with a non-smbfs)
returns a busy mount point error.
[luca@fluca:~]$ mount

I'm new to this list, so please apologize for any inconveniences =)
I just tried out to mount a windows-share which has permissions in a domain with Active-Directory for only one specific user. all others are not permitted to read, write or do anything else.
using the command
mount -t smbfs -o username=john.doe //wowbagger/windows_share /mnt/shares
gives me no error message,

Finding DLL's
I've searched the web pages, docs and archives but I can't find the answer to
my question. How does wine locate dll's for a native windows application?
Specifically, I'm trying to get QuickBooks Pro to run and it can't find
IPROF32.dll eventhough it is in the same directory as the .exe and that
directory is in the path. Can somebody point me to the proper docs or

The version of my question is: Does anybody know what the proper global,

Quickbooks 2008 - How can I get this functional?!
So, I got Quickbooks 2008 working in the latest WINE, and Ubuntu 11.04. Problems happen when I try and open an existing company file. It wants to update, and then updating fails, and then the whole shebang fails to load after that. I even tried copying the Quickbooks folder from the other system (just need to change the license) to make the updates more complete. Same exact problem. It crashes on
