similar to: shared files not locked -> samba culprit or clients?

Hi all I am fairly new to samba and XP. I have a client who we set up a samba server for, they are complaining about documents taking about 30 secs -2-3mins to open but only sometimes (it can be very frequent). I have seen this and captured a piece of the log file I wonder if any one can make any sense of it... I have been looking on the net and trying various things all day but to no avail...

I'm trying ot get Windows 2K off line folders to work but it fails when writing a file back to the Samba share reporting that access is denied on the share. When users create a file on this share, the files are created with permission's equal to 764 (rwxrw-r--). I want the permission's to be 760 (rwxrw----). How can I accomplish this for this share?
