RES: authentification in ads2003
I also have made this configuration working with w2k, the problem is related do enc-types used by w2k3. I have seen a lot of people complaining about the same issue. Can the samba gurus help the community ??? What are the right configuration to put a Samba 3.0.x working as a Active Directory 2003 member and be accessible through \\<samba name>\<share name> ?! hi list, i try since weeks to authenticate my linux-clients against my samba-server. This works very fine with 2 windoze-cliens. but i still cannot authenticate with my linux-clients. i am @office now, thats wy i ask instead to test: i heard, winbind is used to authenticate linux-clients against the samba-server. the wbinfo -u gives me back: DOMAIN-user (i use the minus as separator) so i

AD and home directory on Linux
I'm trying to get my home directory (automaticly) mounted from the AD server via SMB - I can't (don't want to) use NFS, because that fucks up the file modes (even with SFU it's not compatible enough). Using LibNSS/LDAP and LibPAM/{LDAP,Krb5} will authenticate me, get me a ticket and overall work exactly as planed. However, my home directory isn't availible (I had to create

Windbindd restarts and lost uids
We have a problem with our setup that exposed another problem in winbindd. Setup: Samba 3.0.1, openLDAP 1.2.23 for idmap backend using port 1389, security=ads (w2k). All works after we get the daemons started successfully. The first issue has to do with the initial setup of both a Samba server [smbd, nmbd, winbindd, slapd], and a Samba client [just nmbd and winbindd]. We do the

stopping amd causes a freeze
Occasionally stopping amd freezes my system. It's a rare occurrence, and I haven't found a reliable way to reproduce it. It's also a real freeze, so there's no way to get into the debugger or grab a core dump. I only can perform the 4 seconds hard shutdown to revive the system. I run amd through sysutils/automounter, which is a scripting solution that generates an amd.map file

We're using samba only to join a given domain -- so the config file is very minimal, as per: [global] workgroup = TEDDYBEARS netbios name = SMOOTHWALL realm = TEDDYBEARS.LOCAL security = ads

ADS users on RedHat 9 Samba 3
I'm having the toughest time getting this to work... I have a windows 2000 domain and i'm in the process of adding a Samba fileserver... All of the setup guides i have seen point me in the right direction, but fail to provide assistance for my single problem... basically i've figured out that if i have security = share. I can run the gentent passwd command and see the domain accounts
