FreeBSD 5.0 + ACLs
Hi all, I am playing with a test box at the moment running a Samba 2.2.7a domain on FreeBSD 5.0. I wish to enable ACLs, but I am not exactly sure what I am supposed to expect once they are enabled. I have created a UFS2 partition and enabled ACL support using tunefs. Since doing that, I have been able to connect to the Samba shares and modify ACLs, but so far the only things I have been able to

migrating samba shares to a netapp filer?
Hello, I'll soon have to migrate our samba shares to a netapp filer (not my decision). Currently the shares are on an xfs filesystem and served by samba 3.5.2, which is also the domain controller (a role that it will maintain, only the shares are being transferred) and sama/unix users are in ldap. The filer is in the domain and uses ldap to map user ids and that seems to work. Samba maps the

samba4 PDC to BDC file replication
Hi, I have built two samba4 boxes, one as a PDC and the as a DC, all working perfectly. If I create a user through the mmc snapin then turn off the PDC, I can still login to the domain using the DC which is great. The problem is their files and ntfs permissions on BDC. I have assigned user and group rights using windows explorer to certain folders, i.e granted user1 full permissions to that

Winbind problems
Hi, >||||||Do not set ANY additional share parameters, such as force user or >valid users. Adding them to the share definition can prevent you from >configuring or using the share. OK, sorry. Now is working properly. I'm copying the Windows files to Samba4 and I'm not able to copy the NTFS security information. In the logs it states that the destination is not an NTFS system.

Re: Can't create any KVM template due to the error with libguestfs
Hi, Two doubts. 1. What I've to replace in "NEEDED"? or I need to just run the whole command you given 2. You mean this one, rpm -qa | grep libguestfs* On Mon, Mar 16, 2015 at 5:35 PM, Richard W.M. configure issue when libattr is in a non-standard location?
Hi, Apologies if I'm missing anything or this has already been discussed. I did try looking at the bug list and mailing list archives before sending this. Plus it's my first time posting. I am trying to compile rsync (v3.1.0) on a Synology NAS with ACL support. Why am I doing this? I have files that have extended ACLs that need to be preserved when another filesystem is rsync'd

Bulk copy of files with owner info using Robocopy fails with error
Hello, I'm trying to take a Samba-integrated file storage appliance with ZFS as the underlying file system (Nas4Free, in its latest incarnation, to be specific) into use and have gotten it Active Directory integrated just fine, and created shares on it. I can set the owner of the share to the domain Administrator, and I can alter ownership information from a Windows box just fine. ACL's

Re: 2.2.7 compile error using --with-acl-support
If you are using the debian/rules from apt-get or the source tarball, you need to not only include --with-acl-support in debian/rules, you also need to vi debian/config.cache --> replace "ac_cv_header_sys_acl_h=${ac_cv_header_sys_acl_h=no}" with "ac_cv_header_sys_acl_h=${ac_cv_header_sys_acl_h=yes}" This will allow it to compile. Unfortunately, for me,

Samba and ACLs
Hello, fist of all I'd like to thank all samba team for the great job it is doing: thanks very much to samba team! We are running a very large file server (nearly 300 users) based on Linux-XFS filesystem and SAMBA 2.2.1a. We are controlling XFS ACLs through WinNT/2K tool (right click, properties, security, permissions). We are not using winbind. We are using SECURITY=DOMAIN. The netbios

copy a large volume of data from PC to samba server
Hi there, Is there someone over there knows a method or script that can copy a large volume of data (in folders) from PCs to a samba server (suppose there is enough space there)? I know using smbclient or smbtar can backup data on PCs to samba server, but it is written in tar files.I wonder whether this method can handle a large folder, say, in 10GB size. Also, using smbclient with mget and

Robocopy from Windows to Samba (3.6.3) with backup flag
Hello, I need to copy a Windows NAS to a Samba one preserving all stuffs (dates, owner, security, etc...) in an enterprise environment. I'm used to do that with between two Windows using robocopy and the /b (backup) flag, so I can backup files even if I do not have an ACE for my account as I have the backup and restore privileges. I need to do the same thing from Windows to Samba but using

security
I have a user who was having problem accessing samba. So I suggested him to try to login from other system to see if it's problem with his pc or his account. Then he found that when he used other person's PC, it didn't ask for password at all and gave full access to his account! The two person's accounts are totally different. Any idea? Thanks. --
