upgrade from 2.2.8 to 3.0.10
I just upgraded from samba 2.2.8 to 3.0.10 on RedHat 9. I am using the exact same smb.conf file as before and now I can connect to the server from linux clients and most windows clients, but _not_ from Win2003 Server Clients. I get alternating messages of: --------------------------- \\hostname is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contanct the

Upgrade 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 causes client hang on file access
Hi, Chris Mills opened already a very similar thread: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-September/091704.html The reason why I open a new thread is, because it happened at upgrading from 3.0.5 to 3.0.6. For the time being I downgraded to keep the system working but I have to find another solution soon ... It happend to me at two computer, both using Debian, one 2.4.18 the other

sambaNTPassword does NOT write to master LDAP when machines auto change the values
We have SuSE SLES9 servers with LDAP master/slave replication (24 replications/BDC's) All working fine -joining domain etc. The problem I am having is PC's at remote sites (BDC) with a local replica (OpenLDAP) periodically change the sambaNTPassword/sambaLMPassword on there own and write to the local LDAP server and do NOT follow the referral to the master. completed printjobs stay in queue after "upgrade" 3.0.20rc2 -> 3.0.20
A few weeks ago, I upgraded Samba 3.0.1x to 3.0.14a . After the upgrade, all completed printjobs on all 40 printers stayed in samba's print queue (they were removed from the unix-printqueue). When I installed 3.0.20rc2, everything back to normal. But since the upgrade this weekend to 3.0.20, the same thing happens again: no jobs were removed from the samba printerqueue's. Removing

clamav upgrade help and info
Dear list... In regards to recent upgrade in www.clamav.net to 0.88.3 and... ...as an example I've used this page to create a process where I can create my own clamav programs/stuff/etc... http://qmail.jms1.net/clamav-upgrade.shtml and so I would go to http://crash.fce.vutbr.cz/crash-hat/4/clamav/ and snag the source rpm that Petr made for Fedora 4. He hasn't updated yet (pretty sure

Upgrade from 2.2.8a to 3.0.0 fails
Hi, I tried to upgrade samba on a Linux from 2.2.8a to 3.0.0, and after the upgrade the printer sharing fails. I would like to participate in the search for the bug (if it is a bug), but I don't know how to start. If this is not a bug I would like to know why not, and how to work around, that the printer does not work with the attached smb.conf, while it works with samba version 2.2.8a

latest 4.2 to 4.3 upgrade and distribution by CentOS team
greetings! it appeared to me that previous upgrades were strained by sheer amount and size of the update as well as the eagerness of the CentOS userbase to get upgraded... this last one, well... it went so smooth that i believe many may have missed it happening so to speak :-) initially having been a large Galacticom aka Worldgroup BBS operator (remember those?) and then an ISP for going on 2

Definition of "wrapper"?
I think I more or less understand what a ?wrapper? is, but I?d like to hear how more experienced R users define it, and especially I'd like to know if there is a formal definition. In my reading, it seems like there are a fairly wide range of meanings, but they are all conceptually similar. I've looked in a couple of the classic R texts, the extensions and developers' manuals, and R

Upgrade Samba 2.2.6 to 2.2.8 by novice
Hi, I would like to install SWAT to administer Samba on my Mandrake 9.0 server. The Swat file is ver 2.2.8 while my Samba is version 2.2.6. The installation aborts because of version differences. I have tried to upgrade Samba to version 2.2.8 but run into other problems with dependencies. Am I correct in thinking that I have to uninstall Samba first and then re-install the later version? And if

logon script won't start anymore after update 2.2.3a -> 2.2.8.a
Dear list, last friday I had a frustrating experience during the update of my samba server. I've been running samba since 1998, now there are 50 users with win2k-boxes attached - the samba server acting as PDC. Becauce of a swap of the old server I finally decided to update to 2.2.8a. What I did (in general): - installed the new server with suse 8.2 prof - Installed the suse-rpms for

domain logon problem
Hi, I've got a samba 3.0.7 server acting as a domain controller. I can successfully authenticate my workstation against it. I have another samba 2.2.8 file server which I've joined to the domain, but I can't browse it from my workstation. What setting could be wrong? Domain controller global section: [global] add machine script = /sbin/e-smith/signal-event

Odd LPQ behavior in 3.0.x
Here is what I'm seeing after upgrading to 3.0.x: 1) Jobs no longer properly report their status, using LPRng's lpq. I see, instead, no listing for status and a listing for number of pages in the job. While that is also useful information, it does not allow me to act on jobs as I'd like to (resume/pause/etc). 2) Basically EVERY job that has ever printed via Samba on that printer

Winbind broken after 2.2.8 upgrade
I have just upgraded two of our samba boxes to 2.2.8 and ended up with partially broken winbind after the upgrade. The machines are slightly different, and so are the symptoms, so here goes: System 1: Was at 2.2.3 compiled from source Feb4/02, using options: "./configure --with-winbind --with-acl-support --with-quotas". Running on RedHat 7.2, installed from SGI's XFS installer

upgrade samba-2.2.8 to samba-3.0.2a (umlauts)
Hi, we run a samba 2.2.8 server and like to migrate to a faster, new server running samba 3.0.2a. I thought to copy all files from the old to the new one mounting the new shares by nfs. For a test I copied some files using scp. A problem concernes the german umlauts: on the old server they aren't displayed if I "ls" the files while browsing the share works fine. If I copy the

NT4 profiles won't load after upgrade to 2.2.8
Hi I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this. I've upgraded two machines from RedHat 7.2s default 2.2.1 RPM of Samba to an RPM of 2.2.8 compiled from the source RPM on the samba download site. One server has XP clients and this has no problems. The other has a mix of Windows 95/98 and NT4. The 95/98 clients worked fine but the NT4 machines both had to be removed from and
