winbind - getent passwd
I can't find the thread but someone last week was having trouble with 'getent passwd' not returning the Windows domain users as well as the local users. 'wbinfo -u' worked but not 'getent passwd'. I just finished a new server and had the same problem. Turns out I overlooked the the symbolic links in /lib. The file libnss_winbind.so needs to have a link to

Samba+ldap, Getent and AD (aka the good bad and the downright ugly)
Hi all. I have managed to join my samba server to an AD domain. I can now join using the net command and get various other bits of info. Wbinfo -u /g/t etc works nps Getent however doesn't. This is my question: By reading various emails over the last 2 weeks and various howtos etc In order to share users and passwords etc all I need to do is edit the nsswitch.conf To passwd: compat

Cant get getent to work with Winbind
All, I am having trouble with the getent passwd and getent group command. I am using 2.2.4-4 version of Samba on a redhat system with 2.4.18-SMP kernel. This issue seems to be intermittent. Sometimes is works and others it doesnt. More often than not, it failes. I can do a wbinfo -g and -u and get the info so I am connected to the doamin, but not getent. This will affect my users from loging

getent passwd blank response
I have an issue that "getent passwd SAMDOM\usrname" returns a blank response. Running "getent passwd" returns all the local users. I cannot determine if the libnss-winbind symbolic links exist. This is a member server running Debian 10 with Samba v4.12.5 via Louis' repos. The Sambawiki /Libnss winbind Links/ page shows Debian x86_64 source location as

"getent passwd" doesn't list domain users
__________________ Hi all, I've configured samba 3.0 as a domain memeber in NT 4.0 domain. Server has been added to the domain, without any problems, BUT, for three days...., I'm not able to find a way how to use NT domain resourses for this samba server. getent not listing domain accounts
Hi, If your system is Debian use: ln -s /usr/local/samba/lib/libnss_winbind.so /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ ln -s /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnss_winbind.so /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnss_winbind.so.2 And "getent passwd" will show the domain users. Maybe you need restart de server. Att, Este e-mail foi enviado por um computador sem vĂrus e protegido pelo Avast. www.avast.com

Getent passwd doesn't show Domain Members
Dear Support-Team, i have a problem regarding the function of winbind on a samba4 Active Directory Domain Controller. I installed samba4 from the standard debian sources. Made the domain provisioning and installed Kerberos. After that I installed winbind and linked the libnss_winbind.so.2 -> libnss_winbind.so. Wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g do work properly. The strange thing is, that

getent and wbinfo not returning expected results?
Hello, For some time now have been trying to connect a Samba-3.0.14a-0.4 server running on SuSE Ent 9 linux server to our Exchange 2003 (running on Server 2003 Std w/ SP1) server which is also the AD server for our domain. I can connect to the shares using the AD as the authentication source, so the basic functionality is there but some command output does not show in the way i expect
