Transfer GPO's between servers on different domains?
As per title, is it possible to export GPO's from one AD DC and import them into another, one on a different domain? Searching online, all posts refer to transferring GPO's between servers on the same domain, or restoring GPO's from backups when rebuilding a server. It is tedious to configure by hand 30-40 GPO's - it would save a lot of time if there was a way to just copy

Issues on Samba4 AD DC GPO's with Sites and Winbind
Hello Samba-List, Recently I ran into a few access rights problems with GPO's. I have an test environment running with four samba4 AD DC's (sernet 4.1.2/debian wheezy). Used the Script's from the samba wiki for sysvol replication. The AD Database is comming from an classic upgrade and i have "idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes" in my smb.conf. Some groups like for example

software deployment
Hi, Just wondering: What are you guys using to deploy software on your windows (7) workstations within the samba4 AD? These are options I know of: * wpkg (but it seems it's development is not too active) * wpkg-gp using the group policies * www.opsi.org (Client Management System for Windows clients) * standard windows software deployment, but I think that's msi-only This page also has

Cannot edit GPO's anymore via RSAT
Hello all, I have recently discovered that my user cannot edit GPO's anymore. Every GPO I try to open, gets me the famous window "*The permissions for this GPO in the SYSVOL folder are inconsistent with those in Active Directory" * and then I get another window saying "Access is denied". I believe that this happened when I upgraded to 4.1.7 from 4.1.3, about 3 weeks ago,

DM: samba 4.5 -> 4.8, guest access and machine account access troubles.
Hai Marco, Few pointers. First, time is in sync? I guess it is, but check it. Second. Guest access enabled on a domain joint PC ? If you really really want that, then enable user guest in the AD also. But better is avoiding Guest access completely. Join the domain, dont allow guest access and configure it correctly, best tip i can give, for the software deploying share. [wpkg] path

DM: samba 4.5 -> 4.8, guest access and machine account access troubles.
I've just upgraded my DM from samba 4.5 to 4.8, using luois repos (also, debian jessie -> stretch). I'm experimenting some troubles on some shares, seems that both guest access and 'machine account' access does not work. The share is rather simple: [wpkg] browseable = No comment = WPKG Automated Software Deploying System force create mode = 0664 force directory mode =

Can anyone help me? I know this is all to little information, but I don't know were to start. I think there is something wrong in how or were the C++ or fortran compilator is installed?? Thanks, Geir

Xapian ported to WebAssembly for use in web browser
Hi all, First off, apologies if this list is not the correct place for this message. Although we have used Xapian with our email services for a long time (over 10 years) we haven't had the opportunity to contribute or participate in the Xapian community until now. We might therefore not be entirely familiar with acceptable protocol here, but we thought others might be interested in a new

I use wine from time to time, but I don't know how to deal with "ugly font problem". If so, how? -- Tomek http://wpkg.org WPKG - software deployment and upgrades with Samba

WPKG
Just wondering if anybody out there actually downloaded and got my Wpkg utility working. I'd like to hear what people think about it. Not having a progect page for it and all doesn't make that easy. Hmm. Maybe i'll set up a sourceforge page. Anyways, anybody using it? (for those not aware, it's a utility to automatically install software on windows computers, without any specific

Problem in long timeouts file access
I have a very strange problem accessing some files on a samba share that are in use from many windows7 client machines. I'm experiencing long timeouts: 5-30 seconds per file on very small xml files. The share is accessed by contemporary Windows7 machines at the time they are shut down. It seems to me that some of the files remain opened and locked to all other clients at server side while the
