Printer Driver Download Problem - PPD's Not DL'ing
Hey All, just a quick question about printer upload/download stuff that's been confusing the hell out of me for a couple days... This might be a Samba, or a CUPS problem, so i've posted this on both newsgroups, but if anyone's had a similar problem I'd really appreciate any help! I'm running Samba 2.2.7 and CUPS 1.1.17 on a RedHat 7.3 System.. I'm trying to get the

printer trouble - missing driver?
I can't get my HP DeskJet D2345 (USB) to work on my CentOS 5.3 machine. It'll work on another machine (with Fedora 7). I compared the installation details (in CUPS http://localhost:631) - seems that Cent does not have the driver. On the F7 machine, the device is "D2345 (HP D2300 series)" and the driver is "HP DeskJet D2300 Foomatic/hpijs". When I try to config my

Re: How do I force Samba to update shared printer list? (2.2.6-pre2)
Try : killall -s HUP /usr/sbin/smbd is causes that smbd rereads its config. Call for help with Samba Printing and WinNT
Hi [Samba]s This is a call for some generous people to try out the process of installation of a Samba printer on WinNT and WinNT Terminal Server Edition. I am working through Kurt Pfeifle's HOWTO on Printing and CUPS printing in Samba 3.0, and finding some issues with NT/TSE. It would be good if we had some confirmation or otherwise of these problems so that Kurt can update his HOWTO (this is

adding a printer to samba via cupsaddsmb
I'm trying to add a printer to Samba 2.2.4, using the cupsaddsmb tool provided with CUPS. cupsaddsmb basically invokes samba's rpcclient program.. The driver part installs fine using cupsaddsmb, but addprinter always fails for some reason. This is what cupsaddsmb returns, does anybody have any idea as to what is wrong?? If I invoke rpcclient manually with a debug level of 10, it goes

W9x doesn't download printer drivers
My W9x clients cannot download printer driver from samba 3.0.2rc1 with cups 1.1.17, while w2k clients do. The W9x clients open the Add Printer Wizard, connect to print$ share, request the ADOBEPS4.DRV file, but they stop at the beginning of the download. Permissions on print$\WINNT\0 directory are the same as print$\W32X86\2. cupsaddsmb was successful. I sniffed the packets while client was

Got cupsaddsmb working but the client PC download of the printer drivers fails for 3 out 4 PCs tested so far!
I have built a new CUPS print server on Ubuntu 8.04 server for our office (used apt-get to download the CUPS v 1.3.7 and Samba v3.0.28a packages) as a replacement for our existing Suse CUPS print server and I want to use the cupsaddsmb tool to set up printer drivers for download by PCs rather than using the Add Printer Wizard method which we have used on our older CUPS print server. Does automatic printer driver download from Win 2k client work?
Hi, I am playing around with automatic printer driver download to Windows 2000 clients from Samba 2.2.8a-1 which doesn't seem to work. Whenever I right-click on the printer and say "connect", it displays: The server on which the printer resides does not have the correct printer driver installed..... Here is my smb.conf file: [Global] workgroup = DEBIAN_FANS load printers = yes

Samba ignores printer options when printing via CUPS
Hi all, I'm having a few problems getting samba to pass along settings for various print options for all of our printers. Printers are set up using PPDs in CUPS, added to samba via the cupsaddsmb command and then added to windows clients via point and print. Unfortunately any print jobs sent from windows appear to completely ignore many of the CUPS settings such as duplex and print

CUPS and Upload printer drivers ...
Greetings ... I'm using the "cupsaddsmb" to upload the CUPS printer drivers onto my Samba server, but seem to be having problems with new printer queues. I find if that I reload Samba, the upload works fine, otherwise I get "result was WERR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME", which I think maybe Samba needs to ask CUPS if the queue is new or something. Could any boby help
