Intermittent failed logon for one computer
Hello, We have been using Samba 3.0.7 for almost a month now, and today marks the second time that I see a machine (one out of twelve on our network" that gives this error when I log in: "The system cannot log you on to this domain because the system's computer account in its primary domain is missing or the password on that account is incorrect." Ghost Create account: procedure number out of range in Samba
Hello, I would like to clone a Windows XP workstation that's part of a Samba domain using Norton Ghost. In Ghost you need to create an account in the domain to be able to add your domain to the list of supported domains by the Norton Ghost console. When I try to add such an account, I get this error message: Unable to add DOMAIN to the list of supported domains, The procedure number is

Slow update time for Desktop icons
I've got one user that I just put onto the new Samba 3.0.8 server. He's on WinXP SP1. He has a ton of icons and things on his desktop (39M worth of data according to his profile) but I'm not sure if that is a problem. When he logs in, a few of his icons which point to network applications have only the default Windows shortcut image. If he right-clicks the Desktop and clicks

Loading a package shared lib works in 2.12 but not 2.11
Hi, I have a problem with an external library on a previous R version. We've created our own package containing a mixture of C++ as well as R code which works fine under R 2.12.1. However, trying to install the very same package ZIP file on R 2.11.1 will issue an error when loading a library: > utils:::menuInstallLocal() package 'quasar' successfully unpacked and MD5 sums

Just a quick suggestion for backup solution, please?? ?
Hi! We use Tapeware to back up a combination of LINUX and MS servers across the network to one of two media servers. One is Windows based and the other is LINUX. Having a little problem with the old tape autoloader on the LINUX box, but the backup/restore from the MS platform works very well. Replacing WinNT 4 PDC with Samba PDC
Hi All! Thanks to all of you that responded to my previous posts. I've gotten a lot more info now than I used to have! But I still have questions. The biggest right now is: Is there a way build up a Samba PDC as a direct replacement for an existing Windows NT 4.0 PDC? All the material I've found to date is written from a standpoint of creating a new domain as you create the Samba

Re: Printing /MYOB
It's whatever was current release during March. I have no way of doing regression tests, nor determining which broke what. IMHO the kernel is a suspect too, and March was a lot of upgrades ago for F8. The target system (F8KDE) gets used for MYOB about once a week and printing invoices about once a month, it took awhile before we discovered the system was really broken, we had initially

Rejoining domain after cluster failover
Hello. We're having issues running Samba 2.2.8-a1, on Solaris 8 (SPARC) under Veritas VCS 3.5 clustering (HA active-passive). Every time we have a cluster failover (we're testing), we have to re-join the domain [ADS not NT] (e.g., 'smbpasswd -j XYZ -r XYZPDC -UAdminRightsUser%password'). Otherwise, we cannot connect to the shares, and 'wbinfo -t' returns 'Secret is

Rejoining a domain as a DC
Hi everyone, I'm currently facing a myriad of problems with my Samba 4 DC. After joining it to a Windows Server 2003 DC, things were going fine for about a month. About 3 weeks ago, the two DCs stopped replicating (WERR_ACCESS_DENIED in *samba-tool drs showrepl*). I tried to shutdown the Windows 2003 server, but the DNS records in the Samba4 DC weren't set right, so I tried to add them by

portupgrade issue
I am running 4.8-STABLE. I recently did a cvsup (repeatedly, most recently today). Ever since, portupgrade dies with the following messages: zircon# portupgrade -r pkgconfig /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.6/pkgdb.rb:310:in `deorigin': failed to convert nil into String (PkgDB::DBError) from /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.6/pkgdb.rb:903:in `tsort_build' from
