winbind debugging help.. act 2
Folks, Not even a peep. Did I ask the wrong question or am I on the wrong list? I don't mind pointers to more information.... I own both the recent books on Samba 3 and they are very good, but I seem to be missing something. Anyways... Thanks and hope to hear from you soon, Michael J Barber WPTZ/WNNE Computer Services Administrator p 518-561-5555 x563 m 518-572-6639 f 518-561-5940

PIPE\lsarpc initialisation failed !
Hi all, I encounter a problem when I try to connect a Samba3 server as a BDC on a ASU HP/9000 PDC server. We manage to start the communication between both computers, but it doesn't achieve it. It failed when trying to bind to PIPE\lsarpc. Can anyone give some help please ? Let's note that I can get the SID from net getlocalsid command, and that I can list all share with administrator

samba 3.0.7 cannot join NT4 domain
I looked into the docs and searched thru the Net. Googling for "NT_STATUS_PIPE_NOT_AVAILABLE" yields rather large list of questions about this situatins, but no working hints so far. I believe my samba installation is done very carefully (entirely unlike "grab rpm and be happy" style) and I can try to find out what's going on. Let me describe what do I have so far: My

PAM sending wrong username to Winbind
Hi All, I am unable to authenticate users through pam_winbind. "wbinfo -u", "wbinfo -g", "getent passwd", "getent group", "wbinfo -a DOMAIN\\Administrator%password" all work and suggest that samba and winbind are correctly configured. For some strange reason PAM seems to be sending Winbind "NOUSER" as the username to authenticate

trusted domain 'disconnected' using winbind
I have a problem with winbind resolving global groups on a trusted NT Domain. I want to use SQUID and NTLM Authentification and therefore the external authentification helper needs to check if a user belongs to a given group. When I do 'windbind -r DOMAIN+USER GROUP', only groups of the local domain are listed. It seems as if winbind couldn't find a domain controller for the trusted

3.0.7 net join to NT4 domain - silently fails?
I've got no responce to my mail with subject 'samba 3.0.7 cannot join NT4 domain', so I dug deeper. I also read carefully these docs: swat/help/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/domain-member.html swat/help/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/winbind.html This is what I observe: 1.I srtart from clean state: PDC has no HUNTER machine account (chkd with L0phtcrack) HUNTER has empty var/{lock,private} samba

winbind trusted domain regression after upgrade to samba 4.2.10
Hello, I've upgraded a classic NT4 style BDC to samba 4.2.10 (and after that to 4.2.12, but no improvement...) It was running on 4.1.17 and wbinfo -u showed a list of our users, and users of the trusted domain. running on 4.2.12 it lists only our users. on a working server: wbinfo --domain=EXAMPLE -t checking the trust secret for domain EXAMPLE via RPC calls succeeded On 4.2.12:

Continued: Join domain OK, but domain not found after reboot
Hi, all: To recap: I can successfully get my WinXP box to join the domain (WHITEROCK), but after rebooting, when I try to log on: "The system cannot log you on now because the domain WHITEROCK is not available." I get this even when using the user 'root' - and this user was the one to successfully join the domain WHITEROCK!! To rule out any stale junk, my WinXP is a

Winbindd startup kerberos fail
I'm trying to learn about the interactions between SAMBA and Win2k DCs.??The eventual goal is to have a Win2k server with ADS working with a FreeBSD SAMBA server.??I've?used?the?setup?from http://oslabs.mikro-net.com/fbsd_samba.html and many other articles as the basis for what I've done so far. Winbind seems to work and I can show users and gropus using wbinfo although I see some

Winbind against a Netware PDC
I'm trying to run winbind against a Netware 6.5 PDC for squid authentication, but i'm running in to a panic error. I've managed to connect samba to the netware server just fine and can run an smbclient authentication against it without a problem but the moment winbind comes into play, it stops working. I've tested the install against an NT4 domain server and it seems to work

Cannot set a "Domain group" membership with ldapSAM
Hello everybody! I should have an error on the LDAP entries of my ldapSAM, but I've read several times chapters 11 & 12 of the Samba HOWTO Collection and I cannot fix it. Let's explain: I've got a StandAlone fileserver (not PDC) samba-3.0.4 with ldapSAM working on a RedHat Enterprise 3.0 (linux kernel 2.4.25). The directory server version shouldn't be important, but

Samba PDC + Openldap (no database connection established after reboot)
Hi, all. I really need your helps in determing what I did wrong. I have been trying to setup Samba PDC (not using TLS at this initial stage yet) by hand on SLES 9.1 and did not use YAST because somehow it just did not work. I followed all the steps from the "The Linux Samba-OpenLDAP Howto (1.10) from IDEALX.org) and Chapter 5 Making Happy Users from the book and a bunch of other

smbd crash
A few times in the last couple months we have had our production Samba 3.0.14a-1server crash. We did not have detailed logging turned on at the time so the attached output of our log is the best process tracking I can give at the time of the crash. What will happen is our shares will no longer be accessible, and all the smbd processes will be hung. We can ssh to the server and do a restart
