ext3 partition still gets mounted as ext2 for me too!
Hi,
I am a new ext3 user and I am having problems similar to what many
people are facing on this list.
I have done everything as the emails suggest. I am using SuSE 7.3 with
the the 2.4.10 kernel and ext3 compiled as a module. Because it is
2.4.10 kernel, I created all my journals from a rescue disk and
everything seems to be working right for the non-root filesystems. My
fstab has all my

LPFC support in Xen ?
Hi,
Afraid I dont have a very new system to try out Xen.. It''s an ia32 PIII
machine with 1GB memory (that''s gud i believe).
When I try to build the initrd image for my xen kernel, i get error
messages complaining about missing modules, so am trying to compile them on
my own.
Could find support for the remaining three, but am left with lpfcdd.ko.
Couldnt find an appropriate

I used "tune2fs" to make /boot and /home into ext3, and remounted them OK.
(I am so amazed to see the system come right back without an lengthy
fsck on these two file systems after a power off! Well done!)
I also used "tune2fs -j" on /, it created a /.journal file. The debugfs

problem using ext3 on root fs
Hi,
I just converted all my hard disk filesystems from ext2 to ext3.
This worked perfectly fine for all non-root fs, but I am having
trouble converting the root fs, too. Here's what I did:
1. rebuilt my kernel (2.4.20, x86) with ext3 support linked in
statically - no module.
2. Added a journal file to my root fs using 'tune2fs -j'.
3. Added 'rootfstype=ext3' to the

mysql errors
Since updating * via CVS earlier this week, I've been having problems
with cdr_mysql. Prior to that time my queries and cdr all worked fine.
Now, even though my queries still work, I get the messages similar to
this:
ERROR[1211374384]: cdr_addon_mysql.c:203 mysql_log: Failed to insert
into databas -- Hungup 'Zap/74-1'
Anyone have any suggestions what went wrong?

root fs upgraded to ext3 on rh 6.2 based machine problem when not cleanly unmounted
Hello,
I search through but I didn't find a clear answer about it.
I have a rh 6.2 based box where I made many steps of upgrades.
Some of them, not being available the binary rpm glibc 2.1 based, I
obtained using src.rpm from rh 7.2 and then runnig
#rpm --rebuild package.src.rpm
and then installing the generated binary: great sw rpm!!!
My rpm version is 4.0.2-6x for both rpm, rpm-devel,

fsck still running as of ext2 (even tough it is ext3)
Hi,
I've downloaded and installed kernel-2.4.9 from rawhide in order to use ext3
support (I've also upgraded the necessary packages).
I've used tune2fs to make the current ext2 partitions (incluind /) and
changed fstab to reflect that.
In order to test if everything is ok (this is a test machine) I've switched
off with no shutdown. Except the / all other partitions accused

Zaptel / TDM400P card stopped working
Hi
I have a Dell PE2300 with a Digium TDM400P line card in it (with one
module to handle an inbound phone line). This is running on a Fedora 8
system with Asterisk 1.4.21.2-1.fc8
This system has been working nicely for about 12 months. After a recent
move of office and relocation of the server Asterisk is back on line,
but the TDM line card has stopped working.
I have spent half a day

Needed help to fix corrupted ext3 fs
I have been trying very hard to seek help with my very complex issue but
so far none have been successful. So I would like to try this mailing
list, maybe there are some experts who know what they're talking about.
Please refer to my experts-exchange question, all the required
information will be there. It is more practical to send you to the
webpage than paste out what I've done.

Root filesystem on ext2
Dear All,
I have a following query:
- My initrd image is created using ext2 filesystem.
- The filesystem type of / is specified as ext3 in /etc/fstab file.
- I dont mount the real root during execution of linuxrc because I
referred some documents saying that if you dont mount real root from
linuxrc the kernel will mount it after linuxrc is finished.
- The system boots up successfully, mount

booting from copied ext3 software raid fs to normal fs
Hello.
I am trying to boot CentOS 4 from a copy of an ext3 software RAID 1
filesystem (md) which has been copied to a normal ext3 filesystem (hd). I am
almost getting there, exept that the system hangs after booting the kernel.
I copied the datas from the /boot and / partitions to two similar partitions
on the backuped disk with mirrordir (can also be done with cp or dd). I have
setup the new

a bug in ext3 code for 2.4.7
Hello ,
I use kernel 2.4.7 patched with corresponding ext3 patch. The problem I
have is that when I startup I get a panic in a kernel. I started
to debug util-linux and found that mount does a segmentation fault when
trying to open /etc/mtab file.
The segmentation fault ocurrs on open() call inside mtab_is_writable()
procedure:
printf("mtab_writable: pass 1\n");

mount root fs as ext2 with ext3 enabled kernel
Hi list,
I was looking for a kernel option to mount the root fs (/) as ext2
with an ext3 enabled kernel. I searched the list archive and I'm not
sure whether rootflags=noload is the right option...
Can someone give me a hint?
I'm using 2.4.6-pre5 with ext3-0.0.8.
TIA

ext3-2.4-0.9.10
An ext3 patch against linux 2.4.10 is at
http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3/
This patch is *lightly tested* - ie, it boots and does stuff.
The changes to ext3 are small, but the kernel which it patches
has recently changed a lot. If you're cautious, please wait
a couple of days.
The patch retains the buffer-tracing code. This will soon be
broken out into a separate patch to make
