Réf. : samba 2.2.8a PDC LDAP CTRL+ALT+DEL password change, not chaning Unix password
Hi,
Why you sp?cifie :
smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd
pam password change = Yes
If you use LDAP ?
It's the interaction between LDAP and these parameter which cause the
problem.

Samba LDAP - bug in ldapsync.pl
In the course of correcting directory references for Mandrake in
smbldap-tools I came acrossed the following:
samba-2.2.7a/examples/LDAP/ldapsync.pl
on line 72 we have:
> $ntpwd = `/usr/local/sbin/smbencrypt '$oldpass'`;
On Mandrake this would be:
> $ntpwd = `/usr/sbin/smbencrypt '$oldpass'`;
Except that I can't find anything by that name (i.e.

Samba + LDAP + Password Expiry = Almost working...
I've got a Samba 2.2.7a domain with an LDAP backend. It's been working for
nearly 3 months now without much bother.
By the way: Great work and thanks for all of the effort!
I have been missing one minor thing from the setup since I moved away from
NT 4: Password Expiration. In the past I have posted questions about this
on the list and I've gotten two answers: "Wait for

smbpasswd -w account
Hi,
I've setup Samba NT based networks with OpenLDAP database.
But to make sambas operations works fetching data to LDAP, it should have
an account on LDAP that able to write some objects, such as passwords
(when changing passwd) or object creation (when registering or joining to
directory) .The scope of this account is strong enough to any containers
on the directory, such as

NIS+ trouble
I'm a little less new to samba now - but having a heck of a time
getting authentication to work. I'm running NIS+, configured samba
with --with-nisplus --with-nisplus-home and --with-automount.
Does anyone have some good nis/samba references? I'm striking
out.
The smbpasswd file *does* have to become smbpasswd.org_dir for
samba to work. I first created the smbpasswd file using

Referencing R in journal paper?
I'm using R for calculations and plots in a statistical paper. Is
there a canonical reference to use in the bibliography? (Or is it not
common to acknowledge computer programs in journal papers?)

Typo in the documentation of prcomp. (PR#569)
The help for prcomp on R 1.0.0 states that the component sdev of the
return value is the eigenvalues of the cov matrix. Am I completely
mistaken, or should this be the _square root_ of the eigenvalues?
Also, the documentation is not very clear about how tol is used to omit
components. (The _code_ is clear, though. :-)

Telling tcltk where tcl is?
The installation of R I'm using (R 1.2.0 on Redhat Linux

selecting columns based on values of two variables
Dear R-list,
I am having troubles selecting rows from a very large data-set
containing distances between capitals.
The structure of the data-set looks like this:
numa ida numb idb kmdist midist
1 2 USA 20 CAN 731 456
2 2 USA 31 BHM 1623 1012
3 2 USA 40 CUB 1813 1130
I want to select a subset of these dyads, and have

Image analysis in R?
As far as I can tell, there are no facilities in the "base" R for image
analysis. Is there any extension or package for R that implements
image analysis? I'm thinking of features such as
o Reading and writing image files,
o displaying indexed or "true color" images,
o resizing, cropping, etc, of images,
o filters for manipulating images (smoothing, edge detection, etc)

rspec report diffs
I''m working on a rails app, and we plan to release pretty frequently
(maybe every week - 2 weeks). I''m wondering if there would be an
easy (or not so easy) way to create an rspec report only showing the
differences between two sets of specs docs.

samba-2.0.6-2.0.7.diffs fails
I try to upgrade my 2.0.6 source using the patch file.
It fails after smbclient.1.html and asks me to enter filename.
I tried with smbd.8.html (which might be wrong, because that
file comes a litte later) and it continued.
Eventually it stops at ch06_01.html:
malformed patch at line 19346: ation file, and restricting access to [...]
I have tried reversing the patches and trying again. I am using

samba-2.0.6-2.0.7.diffs fails - resolved
My patch 2.1 was too old. I installed patch 2.5.4 and now
it works. Bummer. Sorry for the noise.

where are sources diffs?
Hello all,
I'd like to update my local src tree (from Wine 20040615), and I'd rather grab
a diff instead of the full 10MB so tarball; the README in source.winehq.org
refers to some 'Wine-yymmdd.diff.gz' but I can't find any of such.
Did I overlook some infos, or are such diffs not available, and I'm supposed
to use CVS?
thanks

can't extract diffs from llvm svn any more
It used to be that you could extract the diff for change with a command
like:
svn diff -c 323998 http://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/cfe/trunk
I now get:
svn: E175013: Access to '/svn/llvm-project/!svn/vcc/default' forbidden
I uses this to extract upstream patches for release version of llvm
products to add to the packages in FreeBSD. If there's another prefered
option please let me
