nmblookup failing
Hi,
I can't get "net view \\<servername>" to work from my Windows test
client.
It fails with "The network path was not found". I followed
some of the online debugging guides and have found that a
couple of the test nmblookups on the server are failing.
The server is named 'fileserver1' and its IP address is
155.2.196.251 for the purpose of this email.

Hi,
When Jason Goecke talks, VoIP ideas become reality, and this makes my
day. On this call we?ll talk about the newest features in Tropo and
how to get started with telephony apps in the cloud without adding new
infrastructure. Here's a chance to speak directly to Jason (or JSON as
we now call him) to ask your questions about VoIP cloud apps.
Tropo is a cloud communications platform that to

It does sound like a networking problem, as you suggested:

joining a w2k machine to a samba domain
I hope someone has some ideas on this problem I've hitting against
since yesterday afternoon.
I've set up a samba server (samba 2.2.3a on RH7.2) as a PDC as per the
combined samba howto docs. I have no problem joining Win9x machines to
the domain but cannot add a w2k machine to the domain. It always fails
with the message (on the W2K worksation):

Initial install - networking problem
Hi,
I'm just installing Samba for the first time and have a problem with
name resolution on my test client. Samba 3.0.8 is installed on
a RHES system named 'fileserver1 (.our.xxx.edu)'. The clients
are Windows 2000 and XP systems. This is a subnet that is part of
a larger campus network. There is no Domain, just a workgroup
called 'our_adm'. I have a very simple smb.conf

GEP with a null pointer base
Mehdi,
Hal’s transformation only kicks in in the *presence* of UB, and
it does not matter how that UB got there, whether by function inlining
or without function inlining.
The problem with Hal’s argument is that the compiler does not have
a built in ouija board with which it can conjure up the spirit of the
author of the source code and find out if the UB was intentional

Samba 3RC4 printing issues
Hi
Couple of printing issues that I can't get around. Probably relevant conf
sections at bottom. Minor one first:
In the Add Printer Wizard (the place most users look first), the Samba print
server is not listed. Manually typing the \\server\printer works fine, but
this is "difficult" for users adding printers on the fly. Adding the
printer from \\server\printers works fine too,

AW: SAMBA 3 as PDC - W2K/WXP Pro logon trouble
Oh, so you are using ldap..., well I'm still working with smbpasswd as
backend :-(
Anyway, I tried 'net getlocalsid' for the domain-sid -> ok
Next 'net usersidlist' which should show me the user-sids -> didn't
work: "[2004/03/04 06:40:05, 0, pid=31232, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0)]

Joining a W2k domain - Could not look up dc's for domain
Hello.
I'm trying to join a W2K domain. The DC runs in mixed mode.
1.
In Active Directory I added the machine "DELL1-W2K" with option "NT 4.0 / 3.51 machine can use that account".
For NT 4 machines the domain is WIN2KTESTSERVER. For W2K machines or higher the domain is "INTERN.DE".
2.
On LINUX I joined the domain "INTERN.DE" with
# smbpasswd -D 10 -j

Stuck on joining W2K clients to domain Samba 3 LDAP 2.1.23
Not related to joining W2K clients to a domain but the "net" command
refuses to work if there is a problem in smb.conf. Even if you run
testparm and nothing is wrong. I don't kno if it's the order or
whitespaces that causes it to not work.
I"ve had to swap out smb.conf several times because I couldn't find the
problem why the "net" command wouldn't run.

Problems joining W2K Client to Samba 2.2.8 on RH9
Hi,
i have some problems using my RedHat 9 Samba Server. I created Shares
for my W2K Windows Clients. All Clients can access the Shares, so no
problem there. Now i tried to join my W2K machines to the domain and get
an error:
"Canot join domain, the credentials supplied conflict with an existing set".
I read in some newsgroups that "net use * /d" helps but it doesn't

Drive Mapping issue on W2K
I've recently added a w2k client to our company domain and noticed that
when a user logs into the w2k client, samba is mapping the user's home
directory twice, once to h:\ (which is how I've set up the logon
script), and a second time as z:\ (which is not designated at all in the
logon script).
The weird thing is that the same user can then log on from a win98
client and the

Hi all
Can anyone tell me how to set up the w2k PDC to accept a samba unix server to join the domain.
What do I need to perform on the w2k box to enable me to join to its domain.
