Migrating kerberos KDC data into Samba4 internal KDC
Is there a mechanism migrate/import user principal information from an
MIT KDC into a Samba4 internal KDC?
We currently run our Active Directory users with Account Mappings that
utilize a cross-realm trust between our MIT KDC (where user principals
are maintained) and the Active Directory domain, as documented at
*http://tinyurl.com/bx9znca* This works fine for our Windows clients,
but it

Samba pwd in kerberos?
Hi. As I said... I will bother you. :)
I'm wondering if it's possible to make samba as a primary domain
controller without having samba passwords, but instead using my two KDCs
(MIT K5).
Is it possible? What should I use in my smb.conf? The wonderful and less
painful thing is samba authenticating via pam... but I don't know how...
the documentation is quite misty.

Vacation message functionality
Hi,
Since I will soon be attempting to get this working on one of my
client's systems, I posed a question on the postfix list - since they
mostly dislike vacation messages - but *ardent haters* of badly
configured vacation message systems - as to the quality of the dovecot
vacation message function. The only response I got did seem to have a
few very good suggestions for additional

Kerberos support in 3.0?
Hi all,
I'm about to begin building a single-sign-on environment (hopefully).
We just brought our first set of Windows-based PCs in, and would like
to integrate them into our existing Linux/MacOS X environment.
We are currently running MIT Kerberos, and would like to create a
Samba PDC which authenticates against these KDCs. Another parallel
project is to migrate to OpenLDAP. I

I feel really foolish here -- but I don't see samba-tool as

OpenSSH 4.3p2, MIT KfW 3.0 and Cygwin
Has anyone successfully built openssh with MIT's KfW (Kerberos for
Windows) under Cygwin?
Is it even possible?
Searching around I found one reference to Nicolas Williams attempting to
do this several years ago, but no indication of success and nothing more
recent.

Response too big for UDP, retry with TCP
Hello,
I am trying to join a Samba 3.0.24 server into an ADS domain, which is
served by two Windows 2003 servers (let's say srv1.domain.local (192.168.1.1)
and srv2.domain.local (192.168.1.4)). I am running Samba on a FreeBSD 6.2
machine and I have established an OpenVPN connection to the ADS network
(tunneling). I have this in my resolv.conf:

Hints about large network!
Hi.
In few weeks I'm planning to set up a windows network over our
departmental net. I need some advices, suggestions about what you
would do. We're in front of a large network. I'm expecting having 50+
+ computers logging in the windows domain, many different users.
Servers will be just unix (linux mainly, and aix/bsd for experiments
only)
The underlying structure is really

samba-3.0.0rc4 && acl-support
Hi !
I?m currently testing samba-3.0.0rc4 as a pdc with acl-support.
The box runs with debian-linux and a xfs-enabled 2.4.22-kernel.
I have defined a share which is located on a xfs-partition.
(changing acls with setfacl works well)
I activated the flag : nt acl support = yes
If I now try to change acls, i can open the win2k-acl-dialoge -
but changes are not accepted by a "permission

Machine count at one site
Luke has mentioned a few times that people are fairly quiet about numbers,
so I thought I''d help out there.
Our production Puppet server currently has 75 signed certificates, and I
believe essentially all of those systems are active. We have an extremely
diverse environment; there are rarely more than three or four systems that
can use the same set of classes. So that represents quite

Cisco 7960 lockups - any experiences?
This is almost certainly not an Asterisk-specific posting, but due to
my inability to find a VoIP-focused Cisco list, I'll post here in the
hopes of finding a more diverse user community.
I am using a Cisco 7960 (version 6.0 SIP firmware) with Asterisk, and
have been experiencing situations where the phone locks up. "Locks
up" means that the bottom part of the screen

a kinder view of Type III SS
A young colleague (Matthew Keller) who is an ardent fan of R is teaching me
much about R and discussions surrounding its use. He recently showed me
some of the sometimes heated discussions about Type I and Type III errors
that have taken place over the years on this listserve. I'm presumptive
enough to believe I might add a little clarity. I write this from the

Failed to join domain: failed to lookup DC info for domain '<EXAMPLE.COM>' over rpc: The object name is not found.
Hello,
I've been trying to add a new server to my Samba 4 Active directory, but I've been failing so far. I'm running the command "net ads join -k" and it fails with "Failed to join domain: failed to lookup DC info for domain '<EXAMPLE.COM>' over rpc: The object name is not found." The answers I found so far imply a problem with the RPC service, but

Try to ping from client to server with its hostname. Sounds like dns

Then try to ping its ip address.
Then try to add server address to host file.
