Is anyone using Ext3 on 2.4.x and software raid 5?
Is anyone using Ext3 on a 2.4.x kernel with software raid5? Does it
work correctly? Last I checked noone had tried it yet, but that was
before I went away on vacation.

migrate with libirt 0.7.0
Using ubuntu 9.10 and libvir 0.7.0, when I do a migrate a domain from
machine A to B, the migration "completes" but remains in a frozen state
until I do a "suspend/resume" on it on B. Then it runs fully normally.
What do I do to skip the suspend/resume steps?

live migration not working correctly
I have two servers running Ubuntu 9.10, with shared disk from ISCSI SAN
and OCFS2, identical network configurations, shared ssh keys, and pki
keys. My vm will boot from either machine and run correctly. When I
attempt to do a live migration with "migrate --live base32 qemu
+[ssh/tcp]://vm1/system" it initiates the vm on the other server, but
leaves the vm on the current server in the

multiphasic growth curve analysis
Greetings R Help Group,
How does one effect a multiphasic logistic growth model with 4 phases (e.g. Koops 1986; Weigel, Craig, Bidwell and Bates 1992; Grossman and Koops 2003) with R.
Before writing to the group, the R help archives were searched, the web was searched with Google, Venables and Ripley 2002 was consulted, Pinheiro and Bates 2000 was consulted, Bates and Watts 2007 was bought and

Problem with libvirt migration
I have two hosts, vm1 and vm2, which are both running libvirt 0.7.0.
They share a common ocfs2 file system that resides on a san, and have
identical network configurations. I am running qemu-kvm 0.11.0 on
ubuntu 9.10 servers.
I start base32 on vm1 and it comes up (it also runs fine if started on
vm2). Then from vm2 I do:
vm2#: virsh -c qemu://vm1/system
migrate --live base32 qemu://vm2/system

site takes a while to load after first visit in a while
Using lighttpd + fcgi to power a site. When no one has accessed it in
a while, the first visit to the page takes a while to load up. Then
subsequent visits are fairly fast.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

I have a question as to how I can show the full content of my rsync logs

Trying to justify CentOS vs. RHEL
Hi all,
I'm in the process of moving all of my RHEL systems over to CentOS but the
argument that fires back at me is for critical vulnerabilities for items
such as zero-day exploits and such.
>From what I've been reading, RHEL releases critical patches much quicker
than CentOS which makes sense since CentOS is simply a copy and when
changes occur they propagate down to the RHEL clones.

2.4.14 patch
Hey,
Thanks for sending me the patch Wiktor, but I was looking for the patch
ext3-2.4-0.9.15-2414.gz . If someone has that let me know. Does it work
well with kernel 2.4.14 (any installation issues ?) .
Why can't I download from http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3 page.
If someone can zip the gz patch and email it to me that would be awesome.
My email client acts up sometimes.

Problem with 2.4.14 and 9.15-2414
I just upgraded to kernel 2.4.14 and applied the ext3 patch
ext3-2.4-0.9.15-2414.gz. It appears (to me) that the patch
breaks the loop block device module (loop.o). The problem is
that the call to deactivate_page is unresolved. The routine
used to be defined in swap.c. It looks like it no longer
exists in 2.4.14.
I'm not a kernel programmer so if I'm mistaken, sorry. I do

this is the error I get fro patching the ext3 patch second
(I get an error inthe same place if I patch the grsecurity patch second)

serious file system corruption with 2.4.14 and ext3 patch
I am using 2.4.14 and the ext3 patch to go along with it and yesterday
I got the following error.
Nov 16 20:14:19 ccs kernel: EXT3-fs error (device ide0(3,72)): ext3_new_block: Allocating block in system zone - block = 394173
Well, I immediately went into maintainance mode and checked the file
system and there were plenty of errors including a duplicate block and
other stuff.
I am not sure, is

ext3/2.2.19 vs. ext3/2.4.14
Hi,
I am starting to do some benchmarks using mongo (www.namesys.com), and I
am surprised by the big difference between ext3/2.2.19 and ext3/2.4.14.
Sometimes the latter performs 3 or 4 times faster. Someone has similar
results or is there something wrong in my test ? Attached is the
benchmark.
By the way, during the test, I got the message

Performance difference with HTB patch in 2.4.14 and without patch in 2.4.20
Hi,
I am using linux 2.4.14 box for my bandwidth management.I patched the kernel for HTB support.I think HTB comes by default with 2.4.20.My doubt is
"Is there any performance difference between patched kernel i.e. 2.4.14 and unpatched kernel 2.4.20 with respect to bandwidth management ?"
Thanks in advance,
Aravind.

ext3-0.9.15 against linux-2.4.14
Download details and documentation are at
http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3/
Changes since ext3-0.9.13 (which was against linux-2.4.13):
- Fixed a null-pointer dereference oops which could hit on
SMP machines. This fix was applied to 2.4.12-ac6, but the
oops has never been reported against -ac kernels.
- Large amounts of developer debug code has been removed. This

ext3fs and 2.4.14 kernel
Good morning,
I have tried to compile a 2.4.14 kernel (because I have some trouble
with the framebuffer and my Toshiba...). Thus, I have downloaded the
latest kernel and the ext3 patch. I have used the .config file used for
the compilation of my 2.4.13 kernel, but the compilation ends with
