domain admin
Hi !
I'm desperately looking for an answer here...
I've been fighting all week-end with samba-3.0 and there's still
something I can't do...
Basically: how can I add some of my users to the Domain admin group ?
I use FreeBSD-5.1+samba3.0RC3.
My group maps:
Admins du domaine (S-1-5-21-xxxx-512) -> domainadmins
Utilisa. du domaine (S-1-5-21-xxxx-513) -> domainusers

Installing windows drivers into print$ on OS X 10.5 Leopard
Has anyone had any success installing windows printer drivers onto a
leopard-hosted print$ share?
If I use the Add Printer Wizard method, if copies the driver files to \
\SERVER\print$\W32X86 then fails with an "Operation cannot be
completed."
If I use the rpcclient method I get a WERR_INVALID_PARAM error. Using
the Adobe Generic PostScript driver as an example.

Windows 10 and Samba 4.1.17-debian (NT Domain)
OK, then here's the weird part. I have another server, hosting other files,
lets my Windows 10 system connect. The main server won't though. They are
both running Debian Jessie 8.3, and Samba 4.1.17-debian. Below is the
/etc/samba/smb.conf file *that works with Windows 7 and 10*:

Few questions on configuring Samba as a PDC
Please don't flame me. I did attempt to search before posting this question
(through Gmail), if there's a better way, please let me know!
I followed this article for implementing a Samba PDC:
http://www.howtoforge.com/samba_setup_ubuntu_5.10_p4
Question 1) The only accout that appears to be able to add an account onto
the domain is the root account. There must be a way to change that

Windows 10 and Samba 4.1.17-debian (NT Domain)
Hi all,
After some config changes and reboots, I got the Samba server running
properly for my client computers running Windows 7. My issue now is with
Windows 10.
I see threads relating to setting "max protocol = NT1", but this seems to
break the Windows 7 clients (which are finally working again). Below is my
smb.conf file (which works for Windows 7):

printer giving Access Denied
I have 2 printer queues setup on my samba 3.0.6 NT4-style PDC. About a month
ago, one of them stopped working due to an issue with CUPS. After restarting
CUPS, printing to that share was giving Access Denied. From a windows box, I was
able to add drivers and set default print settings as a domain administrator but
I still couldn't print. I created a new printer share pointing at the same

Upgrading Samba 3 to Samba 4 - Domain Controller unreachable
OK, this is working with the Windows 7 clients now. Looks like it was just
a reboot. Now I have an issue with the Windows 10 clients... I'll open a
new thread about that...

Cannot use Print Server functions in NT4 style domain
Hi list,
I have an NT4-style domain controller running on Samba 4.2.14-debian
(Debian Jessie) that is acting as a file server. I am reading through the
documentation, and attempting to use it as a print server as well. I have
added the share declarations that I believed I needed, and CUPS is working
properly with a test printer. Below is my smb.conf file (some sections
redacted):

Trouble Renaming Computer
Hi,
i've just migrated from nt4 to samba 3.0.10-1.4E.9 with tdbsam, running
on Centos 4.4
The net rpc vampire went fairly smoothly.
Now that samba is running as the PDC (nt4 machine has been laid to rest)
i am having trouble renaming computers in the domain.
If i try this from the windows workstation (XP Professional) i get
access denied. I use "root" or administrator which is

CENTOS4.6+SAMBA3.0.25+FEDORA-DS
Hi
I am new to linux & Samba. I would like to setup Samba as a
domain controller and using Fedora-ds for authentication.
I have read some documents from www.samba.org but I am still in
the mist.
Here is my dumb questions about Samba as follows.
1. Is CENTOS4.6+SAMBA3.0.25 as PDC +FEDORA-DS possible?
2. Is this HOWTO from

Hello,
I still have a problem with my Samba installation. Userprofiles don't work under W2K SP4. They work fine with Windows NT 4. When loggin on for the first time the user profile directory is created. After loggin off however no data is written to the profile directory on the Samba PDC.
When logging on there ist the following activity in the logs (debug level = 1; log.pc1):

master users with dovecot2 braek down to allowed domain
Hi,
i think ive asked it before
perhaps this feature can be included in dovecot2
couldnt get it run with dovecot 1.2.x
if i use the postfixadmin superuser, domainadmin, domainuser layout
so there are domainadmins defined in a sql table
it would be a nice feature to break it down to be master only at there
related domains via sql lookup
at recent i think there is only the chance to give master

Clarifying CUPS Printing
We have been using CUPS to handle printing and have run into some "features"
some of which a fresh install of the responsible server will probably fix.
However there are some disparities between the documentation and our
practical experience for which a clear statement would help others.
The docs state when using CUPS the relevent lines of SMB.CONF should look
like this:
