NT4 migration errors
Hi I've setup samba 3.0.14 with the latest idealx scripts on FC3. Now I have a test lab to migrate from NT4 box which different than the standalone PDC I have running. Here's the order I used and my ldap and samba configs are clean as far as I can tell since I do get a partial migration. When using 'net rpc vampire -S nt4 -W DOMAIN' it populates the groups from NT4 and shows the

Samba 3 Beta3 using LDAP and NT4 Migrate
Hi, I am trying a test of migrating a NT4 Domain to Samba 3 Beta 3 configured to use LDAP on Redhat 8. Is this possible? Details ------- I previously had Beta 2 on LDAP running as it's own domain controller without problem and could create users (in LDAP) with smbpasswd -a. XP clients could join and login OK. Now I have flushed that setup and have loaded Beta 3 configured to use LDAP,

Problems setting up a Samba BDC
Hello, I am trying to setup a SLES9 system as a Samba BDC. The PDC is NT4. I am using an LDAP backend and have installed the smbldap tools. I am following the directions found in the HOWTO and am running into trouble, maybe someone can shed some light on things for me and tell me what I'm doing wrong. I will print the commands I'm using to try and create the samba BDC and we'll go

Group mapping
Hi everybody, Since two days I'm trying to migrate a whole NT4 PDC to Samba-3 with the "net rpc vampire". Each user and computer accounts are correctly added in LDAP directory. But for every account this message appears during the migration : Primary group of xxxx has no mapping! An other problem is that none of the 558 groups is added in LDAP directory. Then, in my smb.conf

Bundled Netscape DS 5.x schema in Samba3.0rc2
Hi All, The bundled "samba-schema-netscapeds5.x" file provides the schema for Samba 2.2.x attributes not 3.x. I have successfully imported this schema into the iPlanet directory server, and then run the smbldap-migrate-accounts.pl script. This created posixAccount objects but not sambaAccount objects. I later learned that the script calls smbldap-useradd.pl which is designed to create

John, We previously corresponded on our testing of Samba 3.0.0 RC4. Since then, we have downloaded the Samba 3.0.0 Release version for testing with some interesting results. sort-of fix for net rpc vampire account creation
This patch allows net rpc vampire to create accounts in the same way that smbpasswd does, i.e. it will attempt to use the appropriate account creation function for the backend in use. From reading the comments on the top of the local_password_change function, either I shouldn't be going this route or local_password_change is due for some sort of change in status. The only major caveat I've

Restrict access to [homes] share
G'day, I'd like to know how to restrict access to the [homes] share. Currently, each user is able to read/write to his/her own share, and by typing \\machine\anotheruser can open another user's share and read/write there too. I would like to restrict access so that a user can only read/write to their own share only. Here is some of the relevant config: [global] workgroup = ASDF
