SAMBA and Microsoft Access
I'm trying to use Access 2002 on a Samba server.....question, are there
special Samba parameters that need to be set so that 3-5 users can enter
data? All users have proper access (no pun intended) to the SAMBA
server.....
thanks

Win98: net use works, Map Network Drive doesn't; no browsing, either
Hi all!
I'm using Samba v2.0.4b with Mac OS X. My Win98 machines are giving me
behavior that I'm having difficulty diagnosing:
* The server doesn't show up under Network Neighborhood.
* Map Network Drive doesn't work with the "netbios name" I specified. I
may be confused, but it doesn't work with the "workgroup name", either:

Re: 2.2.3a as a PDC for Win2k Pro and/or WinXP Pro
Hi Mathias,
I can't speak on Win2k Pro but have recently tested WinXP Pro. Now with
XP you will need to use the reg file included with the samba archive (in
a sub directory in the docs dir). Once that has been applied (presuming
all accounts have already been created on server) you can join the
domain and log in no problems.

Browsing Question Here Too!
I've got a samba server, acting as 95 PDC, and WINS, on 1 subnet.
It is routed to another subnet. All PCs use the same workgroup name.
How can I get the PCs to all appear in Network Neighborhood?
They all register with the samba/WINS server.
"Find Computer" works, but only PCs in the local subnet are visible
when you open NN.
Any hints? I've tried "remote announce =

Samba PDC for Win2k and WinXP Pro
I have samba 2.2.7 running on a RedHat Linux 7.3 system that is being used as a PDC and a file server for a group of Windows 2k and Windows XP Pro computers. I am having a problem with the roaming profiles working on both the 2k and XP machines. The profiles seem to load fine when you log on, but when you log off it will only copy the ntuser.dat file and then a few more files (seems to go to

Wierdness using Samba PDC with WinXP-Pro and Win2K-Pro clients
Hi All-
Please tell me if I'm posting to the wrong list. I looked for the list called
samba-ntdom (listed at http://us1.samba.org/samba/archives.html) because it
seemed a more appropriate forum, but it looks like that list has been
dissolved. Has the discussion for that list moved to some other list?
Anyway, here's the problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with:

Samba Win2k problem
I have a samba server version 2.2.7a-8.9.0 running on RedHat 9.0. It is acting as a domain controller. I have some win2k clients logging in to this domain and mapping home shares, shared drives, etc. The network the servers are on is 1000Mb and the client networks are all 100Mb. The client networks are linked via 1000Mb uplink. The problem I'm having is that when a user copies a fair

Can anyone provide me a few suggestions?
I installed Redhat 8.0 on my laptop. XP Pro on my windows box.
I am using Samba/SWAT at the moment as well.
I have the basic smb.conf that I took from the example folder and made no
changes except opening the public share. (unfortunately I am at work so I
cant show exactly what I have). I also added the workgroup = line under

how to submit patches ? (patch for pdb_xml.c included)
Dear Sirs,
I wrote a patch for pdbedit (pdb_xml.c) which handles cases with national
alphabet characters in GECOS fields. I sent it directly to Jelmer
Vernooij, but there was no answer.
Who can review the supplied patch ?
Cheers,
Ilia Chipitsine

Help a newbie (please!): Samba and WinXP in a non-PDC environment
Hi all... looking for some assistance with my first Samba setup.
The setup: On a small (five-computer, mixed Win2k and WinXP pro) LAN, I'd
like a share on my FreeBSD server to be available for storage. No printing,
no PDC, no individual user directories or password protection -- just a big
ol' slice of storage for everyone to access equally.
I've come close, (the share shows up

win2k connecting to sbm Linux server
Hi gang,
I recently set up a smb server on rh7.2 to be able to share files with my 2k
boxes. I am able to see the Linux smb server via network neighborhood on the
win2k boxes but cannot connect. I get a path not found error. Can anyone
give me a few pointers where the problem may be and how to fix? Thanks in
advance for all replies.

Error in eco-model
Hello,
I am working on a paper of ecological modelling in R. I have made a Lotka
Volterra model for tree animal species. I was trying to get the model in R
but there are some errors. Since i am not so experienced with R i can't find
the bugs in my script.
I hope if there is someone who can help me handle this problem.
