A question, althought it is not strictly samba pertinent: I have some Win2k server that offers dial-in to local users. Today all stopped working, but the ones using linux ... However these are not sufficient, so i ask here [since it is probable many people have win2k hosts around) - how to , logging in the win2k server with ssh, restart RAS ? Of couse i can use only CLI programs ... at woest ...

SRVTOOLS.exe - Please Help
Hello All, I am using Samba + LDAP PDC with all latest updates & versions. I have been using SRVTOOLS.exe to manage the domain in the past because my work mates can use that without needing root access to the server itself. It stopped working some time ago, and it was not bbecause of an update either, I don't know what went wrong or understand this error. When I open USRMGR I get the

Samba odd behaviour on double NAT network
I'm using a rather strange config, borne out of neccessity rather than choice at home. My internet 'router' is a Win2000 Pro box running Winroute, and my three Linux boxen (running 7.2/8.0/9.0 RH) are networked thru to the Win box using SNAT on the box I work on (don't ask why - it's just pratical, and I can't afford a hub/switch to do this). In any case, it's a

Auto-Extracting/expanging ISO images
Perhaps a bit off-topic, but figured this might be a good question to pose to the list before I go off re-inventing the wheel again... Has anyone, or does anyone know of, a way to directly mount or utilize and iso image file as a filesystem? I'd like to use samba to create a series of shares based on ISO images; assuming one can mount an ISO image file one could in theory serve windows

MS Word unable to sense file opening by other users
Thank you for answering. I am testing Samba 3.0.1Pre1 on RH9 . MS Word 97 keeps opening already opened files without sending any warning as it would normally do when accessing W2K servers. Same program , same files behave differently with Samba and W2K. However, I found that Powerpoint is nevertheless able to sense correctly the situation by always giving such warnings - " test.ppt is

Unanswered question
How long does one have to typically wait for an answer to a post? Tomorrow my message will have been up a week, and I've gotten no replies. It was about whether a file, while it was being written to, could subsequently be opened by another client for reading. I used a DVR with chasing play as an example. Didn't seem like that difficult of a question, but maybe it isn't geeky

SAMBA Groups and Permissions
hi i have a user ~# id test_user uid=500,gid=500 (users),groups (users, kids) as you can see, this user is in primary group "users" and also member of group "kids" if he tries to access /home/board via smb (Samba 3.0 + openldap) from a windows client (XP), he fails, because his sambaPrimaryGroupSID maps to -> "users" and /home/board is not accessible for

Ldapscripts v1.0 !
Hi all, I've been working on shell scripts that allow to manage ldap accounts (users, groups, machines). They are similar to the smbldap-tools but do not need PERL to work (and so on...) and are *very* simple to configure - they may be a good alternative. The only tools you need are standard ldap client commands (ldapadd, ldapdelete, ldapmodify, ldapsearch). The scripts can be used as

LDAP locking problems - home related
Hi list, # dovecot --version 2.2.13 We use Dovecot LDA and I've discovered lots of messages stating that lock files cannot be written: Mar 16 12:02:03 mailhost dovecot: lda(someuser): Error: file_dotlock_open(/home/sg/someuser/.dovecot.lda-dupes) failed: No such file or directory That user's home directory is fetched from LDAP and does not exist locally on our 'mailhost'

File-dictionary based quotas and SETQUOTA
Hello, I am trying to set up file-dictionary based quotas while supporting the SETQUOTA IMAP command. I am using the following configuration : ---- plugin { quota = dict:User quota::file:%h/Maildir/dovecot-quota quota_set = dict:file:%h/Maildir/dovecot-quota } ---- which enables correct quota accounting + setting through SETQUOTA. A user's dovecot-quota file ends with the following

Réf. : Re: R?f. : system users and smbpasswd users
Hi :) As I'd say in French "de rien !" (you're welcome :)) Yes, you can use PAM to redirect the system authentication calls to your LDAP directory, but in reality samba will continue to use two types of accounts : the "posixAccount"s (same as /etc/passwd) and the "sambaSamAccount"s. Everything will be stored in you LDAP directory, but Samba still needs two

Again on overlaying plots (a plot region within a plot region)
Dear R-users, after seeking for help in R-search I did not find any hint on my particular problem. Countless help on "true" overlay, but nothing on this. Please consider the following: par(mfrow = c(2, 1)) T <- seq(0, 20, by = 0.01) ## PLOT 1 plot(T, 30*exp(-0.65*T), type = "l" ) points(T, 30*exp(-0.26 * T), type = "l", lty = "F8") points(T,

Group mapping bugs + PATCH
Hi all ! I've been using group mapping for a few weeks and found some bugs... For three of them, I tried to develop a small patch. I don't know Samba code very well and this is my first patch, so there could be errors :-p I hope my investigations will be useful :) * Platform : Here is what I used : Debian 3.0r1, Samba 3.0.2rc1 - PDC, OpenLDAP 2.1.23 as backend smb.conf extract :

dividing a dataframe column by different constants
Dear R users, today I've got the following problem. Here you are a dataframe as example. There are some SAMPLES for which a CONCentration was recorded through TIME. The time during which the concentration was recorded is not always the same, 10 points for Sample A, 7 points for Sample B and 11 for sample C Also the initial concentration was not the same for the three samples. I would like

New version of the ldapscripts

Here is a new 1.1 version, with the following improvements : - Ability to create home directories and set rights - Ability to generate randomized (or not) passwords while creating a user - Password list generation can be activated while doing a massive user import / creation - Added an _ldapinit command to initialize the

evtViewer - A PERL-based viewer for Ms event (*.evt) log files
Hi all, As Samba users, we often interact with Windows environments. I've developped a PERL script that may be useful to you : it is an .evt (Windows event "log" files) viewer. It is inspired from fccu-evtreader (www.d-fence.be) and displays the contents of an event file. It is available on my website (http://contribs.martymac.com/evtViewer/evtViewer-0.2.tgz) and released under the
