majordomo notes
the majordomo reply on successful sign-up to this list should probably state: "You can start sending emails to this list by using this <vorbis@xiph.org> email address". Seems most admins forget this (or i look over it :-). -- Roger ----- Verify my pgp/gnupg signature on my HomePage: http://www.alltel.net/~rogerx/about/index.html -------------- next part -------------- A

CH7007A (AKA CH7006) TV OUT Support for NV11 (NVidia GeForce2 Go Dell I8K Laptop)
I believe that ch7006 is the only external encoder that's supposed to work, so you're in luck. It sounds like it passes the nv04_tv_identify stage of nv04_tv_create -- perhaps it fails later? Although based on the prints, it's even doing dpms stuff (but it hits _detect a second time... odd). Try booting with nouveau.debug=debug drm.debug=0xe That should provide a bunch more output as

wow! and what about h/w players for vorbis files?
wow! i must say vorbis deprecates mp3! lol. although, i had to use the "OSS/3d for XMMS" plugin on my sblive value w/ 4 point sound to get a proper base. On my other box with a diff card, bass is just fine. however, are there any h/w players for vorbis files? the faq only states one manufacturer called iObjects but i see no portable players! Basically, i want to player vorbis files

OpenSSH 2.1.0+OpenSSL 0.9.5a+RSAref 2.0 trouble
Hello. I have been having trouble configuring the source code for the abovementioned. I have to use RSARef as I'm a resident of the USA, so I can avoid patent violation. The configure script fails to see the OpenSSL+RSAref mix on three different platforms, including the following: FreeBSD 4.0-STABLE (Which has its own port, but I wanted to try it there to see if I could reliably reproduce

SysV style printer interface (Works atleast in SCO)
Samba comes with some sort of sysv stylish printer interface but it doesnt do much except puts the file queued to printspooler to smb printer. I've made few posts to differenet newsgroups and ran a quick search thru sambas mailing lists and didnt find anything *really* usefull. What i really needed was printer reseting and lp commandline parsing so that i could change to cpi and lpi

DSA harmful for remote authentication to compromised hosts?
Hello! I'd just like to run this by some people who are more familiar with the RSA and DSA algorithms and their use within (Open)SSH. I've been using OpenSSH happily with the assumption that using key-based authentication (RSA or DSA public keys pushed to .ssh/authorized_keys on remote hosts) provides a number of benefits, including an important security-related one -- Logging in to a

Samba with split personality
Hi list, my samba server is connected to 2 networks. In one network this machine is just a simple workstation (the lan of our building), but in the other network (my private network) i would like it to be the PDC, have different shares, and have a different name, etc. My current setup (excerpt) is this: NET1 = 192.168.1 #External NET IP1 = 192.168.1.34 #External IP NET2 = 192.168.2

In Fedora, we have something called java-1.8.0-openjdk-headless. Is that the same as Java[doc]

RFC: New function attribute "patchable-prologue"="<kind>"

To directly answer this, this is just a *mechanism* to implement linkonce_odr type linkage. This in itself does not imply in IPO restrictions, that should come directly from the linkage type. -- Sanjoy

RFC: New function attribute "patchable-prologue"="<kind>"
I think most function redirection patching schemes are going to be mutually incompatible, so I'm not sure it makes sense to make this attribute a comma-separated list. I think Eric's and Dean's use case may be better addressed by a separate attribute. My recollection is that they want to add nop slides to the prologue and epilogue that can be hotpatched to enable and disable
