W2k, SP4 and Domain logon
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all. Yesterday I had the funny idea of upgrading all my Windows 2000 Professional worksations (20 W2k boxes more or less) to SP4. I run Samba 2.2.8a on a glorious RedHat 6.2, and after the endless download-and-reboot I found with no W2K client able to logging in. I skimmed the mail archives, tried a bunch of suggestion from really a lot of

smbclient recursive get skips files (rarely)
We seem to have stumbled onto an intermittant bug using smbclient to retrieve files from a W2000 server. Every so often it just ignores some files on a recursive mget. When it ignores files it always ignores the same files. The exact same command repeated again may (or may not) pick up that file. Running a DIR on the directory in question shows the same defect, sometimes the cursed file is

Lost Access to Logon Profiles after upgrade to samba 3 Beta 2
Team: My Debian Sarge "testing" box got upgraded from Samba 2.2.6, I believe, to Samba 3 Beta 2 in the latest dist-upgrade supplied spate of updates (90+, and I missed Sambe being in there . . . ). Not a big deal except that now I have lost access to the logon profiles directories at logon time. It's a basic Samba setup. Uses Unix passwords and Unix accounts, etc. Nothing fancy

Samba4 and permissions of SYSVOL and NETLOGON
Hello, I was testing samba for serveral months, Now I planning to implementing as AD for about 300 computers, I'm using it as a base of users for squid, dovecot and postfix. Everything is working fine, but I found a problem, if a user in windows get into the shared folders of the server like SYSVOL and NETLOGON, they are able to delete files and folders, so I noticed this could be a problem,

%LOGONSERVER% variable in netlogon/Default User folder redirection
Hi, (This is taken form here : http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html#redirfold ) I'm using folder redirection so I have a NTUSER.DAT file in the "netlogon" directory on the logon server (the primary domain controler), which I edited with regedit to set up some folders so that they point to the logon server by using the %LOGONSERVER% variable, and it seems it

netlogon runas Administrator problem solved
Hi Sambatistas, a few days ago there was a discussion, how to force jobs runas administrator at netlogon. If you use a default.bat at netlogon this is executed as the logon user , therefor you are running in rights problems if you wanna execute job which need admin right like regedit /s . I found myself in this problem too, pushing the user to use the logon screensaver as default, i created a reg

error message: Can't contact the NETLOGON pipe
Hi all, I have two samba 3.0.21c + openldap domains setup and the appropriate trusts between them are functioning. Whenever a user logs in to the domain that the machine is not a member of the logon script fails. The only hint I've been able to find are the following messages: Apr 14 08:00:41 hrhmachdc1 winbindd[3923]: [2006/04/14 08:00:41, 1]

NETLOGON Auth
Ok. Simple questions: What is NETLOGON in respect to Samba authentication? Further, what is NET_AUTH2 and NET_SAMLOGON which are RPCs of NETLOGON? Finally, how can I make the system try NET_SAMLOGON before NET_AUTH2? I am getting significant login delays b/c samba hangs with NET_AUTH2 as the RPC, but works immediately with the NET_SAMLOGON protocol after about a 20 second wait for

Samba Auth: NETLOGON vs. lsarpc
All, So, I have a OS X Server 10.3.9 box running Samba 3.0.10. File sharing is fast and cannot as for much more in the department. Only slow thing: authentication. We are using the OS X box as the PDC, and running authentication of all workstations against the PDC. This works good, but takes 15-30 seconds to take place, which is not great. I did a debug level 3 of the samba file

Hi, We try configure Netlogon/Profiles in Samba 1.9.18p7 to use in Win95, but the "login script" did not run in win95 login process. The net configuration is: Clients Win95 using Novell 4.2 and Microsoft in same time; Servers UNIX using Solaris 2.5.1 Server. The SMB.CONF is: ##START-OF-SMB.CONF # [global] workgroup = Samba-TEST local master = yes domain logons = yes

Netlogon Service Privileged Account
Hey all, Let me first start by saying everything is working as expected so far! This is about my login script being shared from the netlogon directory. My XP client sees and executes the 99% of the script. The last little bit is permissions-related. In my logon.vbs script I am attempting to set the registry key to disable offline folder syncs. A "Domain User" cannot uncheck this
