trusted domains and disconnected domains
Hi, I'm running samba-3.0.22, linux-kernel-2.6.16 and I'm having troubles with trusted domains. How can I find the suitable DC for each domain? Could be a resolution issue? Bellow my smb.conf and some tests. [global] workgroup = DOM1 netbios name = localhost server string = LOCALHOST Server security = ads realm = MYDOMAINCONTROLLERREALM

Disconnected...:( It MUST be a kernel problem OR a Samba problem.
Here's what you asked for - along with some tcpdump data that shows what I'm thinking the problem is...If anyone knows what this is - I'd LOVE to hear it - I've seen lots of posts about this type of error from others, and none of those folks have posted their problem being fixed (they probably gave up on it like I did for awhile...) trusted domain 'disconnected' using winbind
I have a problem with winbind resolving global groups on a trusted NT Domain. I want to use SQUID and NTLM Authentification and therefore the external authentification helper needs to check if a user belongs to a given group. When I do 'windbind -r DOMAIN+USER GROUP', only groups of the local domain are listed. It seems as if winbind couldn't find a domain controller for the trusted

Nobody can log on from a trusted domain, EXCEPT my own account
Hello. The one of "strange problems" is here again. This time it's even stranger. I've setup a lab based on Mandriva 2010.0. I use winbind for authentication. I just installed ONE machine, then cloned it on the others, changing IP, name, and rejoining. We have two main domains (PERSONALE and STUDENTI). Machines have to be joined to PERSONALE, but the majority of users are

Users authenticating across domains
Hi all, Anyone know if Samba can authenticate users from a different domain with an established trust relationship ? I have a Debian Samba 2.2.3a joined to an ADS domain called child. The child has a parent domain called parent. The two have a trust relationship etc so users can authenticate across domains which works from a Windows 2k file server in the child domain. I have a samba server in

Samba 3.0.0 & LDAP: multiple domains logon
Hello, If you use samba 3.0.0 with LDAP authentication, samba uses an ldap attribute "sambaSID" in which the domain SID is stored. When somebody does a domain logon (2000/XP) this attribute is checked. But suppose I would like to login to another domain? Can I define multiples sambaSID's or is this attribute unique? If it's unique, how can I login to multiple domains?

Trust Relationships using Samba
Like many, I administer multiple LANs connected together using NT trust relationships. This was implemented about 4 years ago. I now have the occasion to consider performing this same task again, but this time, I would like to implement it solely through samba - no Microsoft PDCs anywhere. I have read documentation on samba.org regarding NT-style trust relationships and am now wondering, can I

help Error with Cli_spoolss_notify.c in CUPS
Hello, I am getting this error when Win XP machines print to my SAMBA server. I think it is a compile issue, if so how do I recompile or get it in place. I used RPM to 'install' SAMBA. Anyone have any suggestions? I am using SAMBA 2.2.6a with CUPS 1.1.8 on Caldera OpenLINUX 3.1.1 Error: Jan 24 11:15:34 heatconlinux smbd[4787]: [2003/01/24 11:15:34, 0]

Samba BDCs and trusts.
OK, I think I've hit a misfeature in samba 3.0(release, Debian/sid) when it comes to using both Samba BDCs and domain trusts. It seems that the domain trust password is stored in the secrets.pdb on the server establishing the trust. This, obviously doesn't facilitate BDCs exercising the trust relationship, or being at all accessable from workstations on the other side of the trust. I

Realm = or workgroup = ?
I think samba is cool. I'm trying to understand the relationship between these 3 options: Realm = MYGROUP.COM Security = ADS Workgroup = MYGROUP And my samba file server is a member of AD My server is W3K Nothing seemed to work until I specified the realm Do I also NEED the workgroup parameter ? Shouldn't the workgroup and realm parameters exclusive from each other ? -aaron

/var/spool/samba retention period
It seems like the files sent to the samba spool and then over to CUPS seem to stay in the /var/spool/samba directory indefinately. Is there a fix to this via a configuration, or just setting up a cron job to purge? Thanks

Problems loading printer list using Samba 2.2.7a with CUPS
I am using Samba to successfully load the printer list directly from CUPS with one fairly significant caveat. If a printer is added to CUPS while Samba is running there is apparently nothing I can do to have it visibly appear when doing a list of the services in Samba (such as with "smbclient -L"). This is also a problem if Samba starts before CUPS in the boot sequence. I find that
