2.4.13 kernel on Redhat 7.2
I have tried everything to compile a new kernel on my
7.2 base system. I have used 2.4.13-ac6 and 2.4.13 w/
ext3 patch. I have compiled with ext3 built-in and
with ext3 as module (with the initrd). I have a SCSI
system so I have done the previous variations with
both SCSI support built-in and modular (with the
initrd). The error I get is:

ext3-0.9.15 against linux-2.4.14
Download details and documentation are at
http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3/
Changes since ext3-0.9.13 (which was against linux-2.4.13):
- Fixed a null-pointer dereference oops which could hit on
SMP machines. This fix was applied to 2.4.12-ac6, but the
oops has never been reported against -ac kernels.
- Large amounts of developer debug code has been removed. This

delete roaming profiles under win2k and PGP. Not good.
Hi there!
After some long hours trying to figure out some nasty behavior related to
win2k automatically deleting roaming cached profiles, I?d like to share the
results with you guys for any future reference.

ac4 ext3 recovery failure
Rebooting to try 2.4.7-ac4, I had Xfree86 crash on exit and hang the
machine (it does that once a month or so; this notebook gets booted
quite often). After fscking the root and another ext2 partition, the
system got to the big ext3 partition and just went dead. No message,
no disk activity, no keyboard response. I powered down and rebooted
2.4.7-ac3 patched with ext3-2.4-0.9.5-247ac3, and that

virsh snapshot-create --print-xml seems to ignore most arguments
Hi,
I am wondering if the --print-xml option is working correctly. The
output for two snapshot-create commands are the same, even though the
first one includes additional options (no-metadata and atomic).
I want to use the generated XML to create a snapshot via a perl script,
and Sys::Virt only seems to support snapshots using a XML description
of the arguments.

IMAP folder separator issue
Hi,
I'm using dovecot-2.2.18 on fedora22 and having a problem with
Thunderbird. I reported this problem some time ago, and received some
tips, but no solution that's worked. I'm now trying to fix this in
earnest, and having problems.
The problem is sub-folders are created with a caret in them, instead
of a new folder below the parent folder. So instead of
folder/sub-folder,

[2.5.6] File table overflow
Hi,
on my linux box (2.4.21-pre4-ac4)
I've used rsync to mirror a rather large /usr/local tree (4 Gb)
After transmission of many files I get the error message
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at main.c(1045)
According to /usr/include/asm/errno.h the code 23 says
File table overflow
What can I do about that?
Many thanks for a hint,

[BUG] linux-2.4.7-ac7 Assertion failure in journal_revoke() at revoke.c:307
Greetings all,
I have hit a kernel BUG in revoke.c in kernel 2.4.7-ac7 twice today while
attempting to perform the same operation (patching stock 2.4.8 kernel src
with "patch -p1 < patch-2.4.8-ac4"). Syslog entries follow. Please
email me if you want/need my kernel config or any other information.
Thanks,

php application inside rails public directory?
Hi all,
I need to install cerberus inside my rails app''s public directory... I
agree that the best method would be to put the whole php app in it''s own
subdomain, but for now (i''m just testing) that''s not possible...
What would be the way to do that?
thanks!

htree and Severn
My reading of the kernel.src.rpm doesn't indicate that Severn has ext3
htree patches. Stephen, were there any issues seen during Cerberus
testing ?

Unit test preperation with migrations
I have spent sometime this afternoon learning how to unit test rails
applications and integrate the Cerberus CI tool. One key area confuses
me however, and I would appreciate other peoples views of how best to
overcome the issue.
My understanding is that the ''test'' and ''test:units'' have the
db:test:prepare pre-requisite which copies the schema from dev to the

Parametric links for glm?
At useR 2006 I mentioned that it would be nice to have a way to
specify binomial links
that involved free parameters and described some experience with a
Gosset link involving
a free degrees of freedom parameter, and a Tukey-lambda link with two
free parameters.
My implementation of this involved some rather kludgey modifications
of binomial,
make.link and glm that (essentially) added a

ext3 with quota under heavy load.
Hello list,
I have a problem with an NFS server for my network. It has ran kernels
2.4.18-ac4 - 2.4.21-ac1, all with problems. The -ac patches are used
to provide the new style quota support. The system seems to have
gotten even less stable with the new kernel versions.
This morning around 5 am, I got a page the system was unresponding to
NFS requests. I ssh'd in, and found the loadavg
