Fwd: Samba semantics error?
Hello, I have this bug report that I have filed. Is there any specific reason why samba behaves this way, and doesn't use the unix semantics? Since this is even more restrictive than unix semantics, I'm more inclined to call it a bug until I know it's supposed to be this way. Any ideas? ----- Forwarded message from Mike Fedyk <mfedyk@matchmail.com> ----- From: Mike Fedyk

unexpected dirty buffer
Hello. On a server running 2.4.25, I have the two following errors in the kernel logfile: Unexpected dirty buffer encountered at do_get_write_access:618 (08:11 blocknr 920707) Unexpected dirty buffer encountered at do_get_write_access:618 (08:11 blocknr 920707) Should I worry about them (disk failure, filesystem damage) ? Thanks. As an addition what does the pair '08:11' means ? Is

Some MS Software doesn't work with SAMBA?
Can it be that our accounting packages don't work on SMB and only with NT? I would HATE to put a NT Box into the mix. Ruben -- Brooklyn Linux Solutions http://www.mrbrklyn.com http://www.brooklynonline.com 1-718-382-5752

user can no longer connect to shares
Hi, I'm using the setup defined for my RH9 box to participate in a Win2000 domain. I have server = domain, etc. This has been working fine for several months. As of this morning, one user can no longer access samba shares. His account settings haven't changed. I am able to access shares from his workstation using my account. I checked the log for his workstation. He has a number of

Changing root journal data mode
Hi, I'm running 2.4.9-ac7 with ext3 compiled in, and I ran across this problem. Now that I look back, it makes sence, but it wasn't obvious at first... I wanted to change the journal mode on my / partition, so I changed my fstab to: /dev/hda1 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro,data=journal 0 1 as well as several other partitions, and rebooted. After rebooting I had a read only / that I

[patch] fix the ext3 data=journal unmount bug
This patch fixes the data loss which can occur when unmounting a data=journal ext3 filesystem. The core problem is that the VFS doesn't tell the filesystem enough about what is happening. ext3 _needs_ to know the difference between regular memory-cleansing writeback and sync-for-data-integrity purposes. (These two operations are really quite distinct, and the kernel has got it wrong for

another seriously corrupt ext3 -- pesky journal
Hi Ted and all, I have a couple of questions near the end of this message, but first I have to describe my problem in some detail. The power failure on Thursday did something evil to my ext3 file system (box running RH9+patches, ext3, /dev/md0, raid5 driver, 400GB f/s using 3x200GB IDE drives and one hot-spare). The f/s got corrupt badly and the symptoms are very similar to what Eddy described

Hi, I've been wondering exactly what you gain by using journaled mode over ordered mode. Are there any known cases where journaled mode could recover where ordered mode wouldn't? Mike

Split bursty bandwidth equally
Hello again, Is it possible to split a bandwidth equally among clients regardless of its current link speed? I have a link that can get bursty at times. At any given time the N active sessions (the ones with non-empty queues) need to be serviced simultaneously, each at a rate of 1/N''th of the link speed. My case is an internet connection that oscillates between 96 kbps and 256 kbps. I

Nested MySQL Commands
Is it possible to have nested MySQL queries in extensions.conf? Ie, perform a query, grab a value, and then jump to another location in the dialplan and do another query based on that original value. I'm having problems with the result and fetchid's and I'm not sure if it's even possible to do this or not. Thanks, Doug. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML
