Win2k Client <-> Samba Server
I'm having some difficulties joining a Win2k workstation to a Samba domain. This particular workstation is my work laptop (DRUMMSW01) which normally operates as a member of a standard Win2k domain called BIZ. At windows startup/logon, BIZ is specified as the domain. At home, my Samba PDC's workgroup/domain is HOME.LAN When I try to browse shares on HOME.LAN with the Win2k laptop, I

Python UCS2 vs UCS4 issue on latest git: ImportError: ....undefined symbol: PyUnicodeUCS2_Decode (NOT SOLVED)
I forgot to remove 'solved' from the title after the fix I thought I had discovered didn't work. I was going to post anyway in hopes of helping someone else but that didn't quite work out the way I'd planned. I'll use the lateness of the hour as an excuse. Ok, so after digging further into this problem, it's getting weird: I decided to manually do the

ucs2 build of xapian?
Hi folks-- I'd really like to try out Xapian on my current server setup (Debian Sarge, Apache2, mod_python, django, postgresql, psycopg2). Problem is, my Python is compiled as ucs2, which is incompatible w/Xapian. I've tried recompiling Python w/ucs4, but it inevitably breaks psycopg2 (which I've blitzed & reinstalled on top of the new Python build, seems like dozens of times

panic when rejecting registration requests
Another, I assume unrelated, problem that we're seeing is that samba panics every time the nmbd server rejects a registration request. Go ahead and check out what the logs indicate, and if you have any advice, please tell me. I've already submitted this to samba-bugs because that's what they say to do for these errors. -----------NMB Log Level 3------------ *Initial registration:*

nmbd Problem
Hello, I am using samba 2.0.4b on Linux 2.0.36. Since I changed some of the parameters in my smb.conf I have a very strange Problem. Everytime my Samba-Box wins the browselist election process two nmbds are started and my WinXX-Clients do not get access to samba (I could see the server but not access the shares nor login to the domain). smbclient -L server from server works fine. windows xp suddenly unable to find pdc (samba-2.2.7a)
All, I am a brand new admin for a network comprised of FreeBSD 4.8 samba/dhcp/dns servers with identical kernels and XP/2002/98 machines. Our primary samba/dhcp server had a hardware failure. I had no difficulty using backup config files to enable samba and dhcp on our existing DNS server, because the software had already been installed for testing purposes. So, there is now one samba/dns/dhcp

Re: smb_panic() in name_len()
Hi Andrew, Also the problem only exists when the share is accessed by hostname (not IP address), the hostname is something like 'smb-share'. smb_panic sys_setgroups failed
Hi, We have Samba version 3.5.4 and we are using winbind (Active Directory) for authorisation. The issue is that for most of the members of a Samba share it is not possible to connect this Samba share. This because of the error below. It seems to be that the number of Active Directory groups where this Samba member belongs to is too high. UNIX token of user 588109 Primary group is 10049 and

smb_panic with 4.0.0rc2 on Debian Squeeze
Hi, I have successfully compiled and installed Samba 4.0.0rc2 on Debian Squeeze as described in the Wiki. In order to support Win XP and Win 7 clients, I have created GPOs for folders redirection. The problem I am facing is with random PANIC messages in the logs and logon/logoff/file access process gets hung on the client. Here are the logs: Oct 18 13:42:32 pdc smbd[27384]: [2012/10/18

Samba Folks: I'm having what seems like a relatively benign issue with Samba 3.0.2a. I'm running SuSE 9.0 (with all updates) on an Athlon XP, 512MB RAM, RieserFS on SATA hard drives. Linux kernel version 2.4.21-202-athlon (from SuSE). I can repeatedly and predictably get the following error in the log.smbd file when connecting via Mac OS X. (smb://serverIP/) I get the same error
