Problems with userPassword when it's base64 encoded
I'm switching from OpenLDAP to the newly released Fedora Directory
Server (formely known as the Netscape Directory Server) as a LDAP
backend for my Samba domain.
I'm now faced with a problem regarding how Fedora DS handles the
userPassword field.
Unlike OpenLDAP it encodes it in base64 so instead of reading
userPassword: {SSHA}0lP+r3Z1NVan7Caf4CG9oSgnTbQRrv/p
it reads:
userPassword::

Samba 3.0.4 + Veritas Backup Exec
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can help me here? Having just upgraded from Samba
3.0.2a to Samba 3.0.4, I've found that Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 is no
longer able to browse my shares. A quick "make revert" and everything is
back as it should be. The things I see in the samba log are like this:

Bad password problem
Dear David,
I have the same bad password problem with my windows98 workstation.
I have spent quiet a bit of time analysing this problem but still could not find any resolution.
Did you manage to find any better solution for this problem?

The RFC standardized ports for HTTP are:
80, alternatives: 8008, 8080
For HTTPS:
443
After all, Icecast is just another web server.
Please note the absence of 8000 and 8443. Neither are officially
specified for WWW type HTTP(S). They are

How to boot into a different kernel
CentOS Community,
Is there a command to boot into a different version of the kernel? I
believe this is setup via grub.conf but unsure. There are a few
different kernels loaded into /boot but I want to see if there is a
command to boot into a different kernel as a single instance or
permanent if needed. Please advise

How well does printing support scale in Samba 2.2.x ?
Hi,
I'm working on a printing project consolidating a bunch of NT machines with
a Solaris printing machine. I'm concerned about the scalability if I increase
the number of printers from say 20 too 300. How does it effect the response
time for looking up and changing device setting etc.
Thanks

icecast eating CPU in Debian
Hello!
I have had problems with icecast beginning to eat all my CPU lately.
I use the icecast2-2.4.4 source on Debian testing, I have recompiled it
for SSL support. The hardware is amd64.
I see nothing particular in the log files. One thing I can think of is
that I have liquidsoap asking icecast if some mount points are up. It
looks like this in the log files:

[LLVMdev] Can I port LLVM as a source-to-source compiler?
Hello,
I am working in a project on a parallel programming language. I want to base
our language on Java or C/C++. But Java is preferred.
Many similar projects adopts a source-to-source methodology, e.g., Berkeley
UPC(using Open64), Titanium, and Rice University's Co-array Fortran. They
output C code with calls to the runtime. I think there are at least three
reasons: 1) using C as the

FTS search with CLucene giving odd results/exposing config issue
I recently got FTS search with Clucene working on FreeBSD 10.1 (I had some trouble with 9.3, postponed solving it, then restarted with 10.1 by manually installing libtextcat, a listed dependency on http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/FTS/Lucene, but not part of the FreeBSD makefile: maybe that helped, maybe it was irrelevant).
However, I now get some anomalous results. I'm putting them together

[LLVMdev] Backend vs JIT : GPU
Hi guys,
I am understanding OpenCL compilation flow on GPU in order to develop
OpenCL runtime for a new hardware.
I understood that OpenCL compiler is part of a vendor's runtime library
which is the heart of OpenCL. Since OpenCL kernel is compiled at runtime,
hence at high level its compilation takes place in two steps:
i. source code is first converted to intermediate code.
ii.

Evaluation "conflict" in combination of replicate() and rexp()as variable inside a function
Dear userRs,
"playing around" with combinations of replicate() and random number
generating functions inside a self-defined "wrapper" function I encounterd
a puzzling behaviour.
The following are intentionally simple (and rather nonsense-) examples to
isolate the relevant aspects. Please, note the seemingly "inconsistent"
behaviour for the second call of

I've had this a long time but haven't submitted it yet.
I've tried to mirror the ia32 setup, so there should be a new subdirectory
src/libFLAC/ppc . The first two attachments go there. The third is a context
diff for src/libFLAC/Makefile.am .
I have some more modified files, which I figured I'd submit after the above
are checked in and working for somebody other than me. If you

LARGE_SMB_OFF_T problem
Hi all,
I have been porting samba-3.0.36 version to one MIPS CPU environment.
Firstly I encounterd the problem that the file greater than 4G size can't be
size-shown correctly at Windows XP file manager, and when I tried to
download/upload the large file (>4G) from samba server, it always failed. I
investigated the source code and found LARGE_SMB_OFF_T option (in header
