Samba locking problem - is this a bug ?
Hi, I asked this once and no one seem to answer. So I'm trying once again: I have the following problem: I have a linux samba server and a lot of linux clients that connect to it. What I noticed is that if one of the clients create new file and starts do some operation on it - the file is unreadable for all other clients (output od smbstatus: DENY_FCB RDWR NONE) - which is OK I

SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/chcon "mac_admin" access
CentOS-6.1 KVM guest on CentOS-6.1 host. I am seeing this SEAlert in the /var/log/audit/audit.log file a new guest immediately after startup. Can someone tell me what it means and what I should do about it? A Google search reveals a number of Fedora issues with similar errors dating back a few years; most of which seem to have something to do with package ownership. This guest starts without

(Un)Locking shared DOS application
Hi, for some time now I'm trying to create the best environment/solve a sharing conflict around a DOS application (Clippered dBase I suscpect) that one of our clients is using and distributing over about 20 Sun 450's on a shared service 'servershare'. On every Sun there are multiple Windows 95 clients connected to diverse shares amongst which this 'servershare'. On this

Center labels on a boxplot
Suppose that I have data on three species for a variable and datasets from two time periods. I want to make a boxplot of the first dataset and then add the second using 'at = ' and 'add = T' as in the example for 'boxplot.' Since the boxes are paired by species, I want to do is have the x labels be centered between the boxes. I'm doing this now with mtext and entering

omindex => Unknown extension
Hi all, I'm having a recurrent problem with Omega's indexing. When I run omindex, it sometimes misses to recognize the extension of some files (.doc, .pdf) and skips them. In the same run, omindex is otherwise perfectly able to index other files with same extensions. The reason is not clear but it should occur before it selects a content converter since for example, if I manually run

Boot from CD -> system + data on USB storage
Hi, I am looking for a solution to boot MY system on any PC. To store most of the system and all of my data I want to use an USB storage (in my case an external USB harddisk (2.0 capable)). Since booting off an USB device is not an universal thing I would prefer to have a boot disk with a minimal system - just enough to load most (all?) of the system from the attached USB device. Is this an

Repeating the same calculation across multiple pairs of variables
Hi all, I frequently encounter datasets that require me to repeat the same calculation across many variables. For example, given a dataset with total employment variables and manufacturing employment variables for the years 1990-2010, I might have to calculate manufacturing's share of total employment in each year. I find it cumbersome to have to manually define a share for each year and

Lower cost router suitable for VOIP ?
Hi, we're testing Asterisk 1 RC 2 behind ordinary router and NAT. Since we're sharing network with web server it seems like voip packets are not coming through fast enough (Digium demo dies after few seconds...). It's the same if I make direct calls (passing Asterisk) so we conclude it's network problem - it also work normally outside our router... I wonder what solutions can we
