Samba 3.0-alpha 18 with ldapsam backend and primary gid of user?
Hello list, Can someone tell me why I keep getting these kind of errors in the samba log files? I just went over from 2.2.5 to 3.0-alpha 18, I never had these errors in the 2.2.5 version. Especially the rid [0] is a complete mistery to me since I have no account defined in my ldap service that has rid 0. Thank you very much for your help. Changing ACLs as administrator
One work-around would be to create a hidden share that only Domain Admins can access. The use "force user=root" on that share. Then you'll be able to change ACL's and not be root. Re: Windows NT PDC and Samba PDC cross subnet browsing? (solved)
Hi everyone, I think I solved it: - I installed WINS on both sides on the PDC's (Samba on the one end, NT on the other). - On both subnets the clients are configured by dhcp to use their own PDC's WINS as their primairy WINS server and the WINS on the remote PDC as their "secondairy" WINS server. - TCPIP configuration on the Windows NT PDC configured to use it's own WINS

Howto switch from distribution to self compiled?
Hi, I want to switch from an old samba 3.6 of a Linux distribution, to a new and self compiled samba, which is in different directories (usr/local/samba). Which files do I need to copy from the old place to the new? Which ones are only temporary files, and can be discarded? This is from the output of "smbd -b" old: SBINDIR: /usr/sbin BINDIR: /usr/bin SWATDIR:

Samba 3.0 - ldap backend and idmap?
Hello people, Can somebody answer my question? Is it so that using samba 3.0 with ldap backend requires idmap backend also? Thus for mapping unix ID's to Smaba ID's? My thanks in advance for an answer. Eddie.

what happened to smbclient?
I noticed lots of smbclient options are missing in Samba 3.0.14a when compared to 3.0.13 - notably, all user/authentication options - so I can't connect now as a specified user anymore. Is it just my build, or is it "official"? Samba 3.0.14a: # smbclient --usage Usage: [-?] [-?|--help] [--usage] [-R|--name-resolve NAME-RESOLVE-ORDER] [-M|--message HOST] [-I|--ip-address IP]

static compile
Grr why is this so hard? Compiling samba-3.6.24 for android using the sourcery toolchain. Dropbear and busybox went w/o a hitch. I've googled the hell out of this, nothing I've found has helped. Here's my config: ./configure --without-krb5 \ --without-ldap \ --without-ads \ --disable-cups \ --enable-swat=no \ --enable-static=yes \ --disable-shared \ --with-winbind=no \

smbclient: preoblems with samba 4.3.x
Hallo, "smbclient" doesn't work with the slackware packages samba-4.3.1 and 4.3.2, it has worked with 4.2.1 and older versions. smbclient answers with "segmentation fault", on two testing machines (where 4.2.1 has worked well). The slackware packets are compiled with ./configure \ --enable-fhs \ --prefix=/usr \ --libdir=/usr/lib${LIBDIRSUFFIX} \
