SAMBA BUG: smbstatus 2.0.6 core dumps on Solaris 2.6 (SIGSEGV)
I am running Samba version 2.0.6 on Solaris 2.6. When I run smbstatus, it
coredumps. Here is some detailed information that may help in killing this
bug.
This is a run of smbstatus where it coredumps, and afterwards, a gdb
session.

I don't see where you're opening the file twice from one smbclient
below. Am I missing something?

strang locking behaviour with macosx clients
I'm running a samba pdc on my gentoo box in a mixed environment with a
couple of Windows XP clients and only a few MacOSX clients. The users
told me, the file locking across the platforms does not work properly
sometimes.
I tried to google my problem, but without luck. I switched all the flags
related the lock mechanism of samba on and off, but the problem seems to
be solved yet.

CTDB and locking issues reloaded
Hi there,
I'm following your list for several months, as we run a CTDB cluster of
Samba gateways over our distributed filesystem. I decided to post my
first message to resume an old thread
(https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-October/204043.html), hoping
to progress and reach some conclusion.
Essentially, we observe and can reproduce issues when attempting to lock

DENY_MODE problem...
Hello!
I sent this message to samba-technical yesterday but as I saw no response
(not even a RTFM ;), I'm crossposting.
I just need some help to track down this bug. I can write a patch if I can
find the guilt...

I updated from Samba 2.2.5 to 2.2.8a. und Redhat 6.2
and since then, smbstatus shows strange values
The dates and the pid's are wrong.
Any ideas?
Was there a change in a locking.tdb?
Do I have to remove it?
Greetings

Files in samba share cannot be deleted after copying failed.
I got a very similar issue like the following link.
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2010-November/159606.html
Environment:
samba-3.5.6
arm linux 2.6.31.8
smb.conf with "reset on vc zero = yes"
Here's the procedure to reproduce:
1. Copy a file from PC to samba device
2. Unplug the LAN port during copying (simulate the flaky network)
3. Then the samba client timeout

Smbstatus shows same share for same client several times - related to locking issues?
Hello,
we frequently face locking issues with office applications and documents on samba shares. The office applications claim that the document is locked and hence no write access is possible. I can check on the samba server that there is no concurrent access/locking from other computers or users. It looks like the same user holds some lock and is denied to access the document because it?s

Samba 3.0.4: some problems with SWAT/STATUS and smbstatus
Hi,
I just installed Samba 3.0.4 on a Solaris 2.6 server. I had no
problem compiling, intalling and configuring it, and everything seems to go
OK. People can connect to all the configured shares without any problem.
But I have some problems when getting server status either via
SWAT/STATUS or using smbstatus:
First, in the "Client" field of the SWAT/STATUS report I have

security
I have a user who was having problem accessing samba. So I suggested him to try
to login from other system to see if it's problem with his pc or his account.
Then he found that when he used other person's PC, it didn't ask for password at
all and gave full access to his account! The two person's accounts are totally
different. Any idea? Thanks.

CTDB and locking issues in 4.4.6 (Classic domain)
Hi Ralph,
I applied the patch to a new build of Sernet 4.4.6 SRPM. I could still
open the file from both hosts, and in fact this time I could actually
open it on the same host without any problems:
host 1:
smbclient -U ajc //172.31.0.120/ifa_v
...
smb: \jmi\Corporate Accounting\ISL Ltd Accounts\2016\1609\> open "201609

Size of locking.tdb?
Hi folks.
I continue to fight with regular locking database damage in Linux box. See
Bugzilla Bug 370.
The current question to gurus: what is the RIGHT behavoir of locking.tdb size?
Should it decrease when the number of records decreases? Or, it should stay at
maximal reached capacity?

Win2k, Domain logon, permissions
I first asked this question at the end of October, got a response which
didn't solve the problem, and have finally got back to the issue now.
I'm running 2.2.7a, recently upgraded from 2.2.0 as Domain Logons for
Win2K were suspected to be part of my problem. Anyway, the issue
relates to AutoCAD (actually a vertical product called Land3) and a
command which works with winXX boxes, but

smbd -D processes spawn out of control
All,
I'm running the latest stable version of SerNet-Samba on a Debian Sarge
box (I switched from the traditional Samba package for certain reasons
which I won't delve into here), but I've come across a serious issue.
Every day, the Samba processes become so numerous that the server begins
acting really flaky. That is to say, there are so many smbd -D
processes that the server
