all remote hosts refused
Any and all attempts to connect to our samba server, packaged in the redhat RPM found on samba.org, have failed. The allow statement is set to localhost, x.y.z. where x.y.z is our class C(ended with a period, as per the online help in SWAT.) Local connections via smbclient work beautifully, but connections from any other machine fails. I've followed the troubleshooting procedure to the

Hello Friends, I want to connect "agly" WXPPro to a unix 5.8 machine via samba 2.2.8. I use "encrypt passwords = yes" and, of course, I modified registry windows. It doesn't work ! Samba 3.0.0beta1, NT4 Joining a Domain Problems
Hi, I'm trying to test Samba 3.0.0 beta 1, and so far, one problem I have spent the last couple hours trying to solve, is a problem I am having joining the domain with an NT4 workstation. The samba server is a PDC, and when I try to join the workstation to the samba controlled domain using the root account (which worked on Samba 2.2.8 just fine), I get a message on the NT workstation that it

3.0.10 works only when logged in locally to XP
I have struggled for a week trying to get domain users to map and/or browse Samba shares without entering a password. If I login to the domain with a WinXP client and try to map or browse a Samba share, I get prompted for user/pass. If I then login with a local machine account (same user/pass) it works. This same configuration also works just fine on W2K clients logged into the domain. I am

"conversion error" and NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi list, sorry in case I do ask a FAQ, but I did in fact find some more mentions of a problem like this, but always without a solution. I upgraded our Samba server today (from 2.10/SuSE to 3.0x/Debian) and have problems with some of the clients (Windows XP). When trying to access a share from these clients, I get a NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE, and increasing the log level reveals several occurences

I've got samba v3.0.21 on server 'RELIANT' with security=ADS I want MsWin XP clients, that have logged into Microsoft AD domain 'MYDOMAIN' to be able to map a drive to 'RELIANT', and to do so without having to authenticate again. \\<IP ADDRESS>\ works, but \\<machine name>\ gives permission error.
Greetings Samba gurus, Short: I have some clients that can log into my samba server using the samba servers IP number, but it fails when using the name of the machine. I've tried solving this error for 2 days now, and I'm at a dead end. I'd love some help with this. Long: I have a Fedora Core2 machine with 2 NIC's. One is hooked up to a 192.168.0.X network with an ADS

Domain logon problems
I have samba correctly setup to share resources between my linux box and my win98 clients (The encrypted passwording disabled accoringly). I tried to configure it for domain logons with my win98 clients, by enabling WINS server, domain logons, and master browser in the smb.conf. When I login on my win98 machine, I get an error saying that the password is incorrect (which it isn't) or the

Hi everybody, I'm having issues with samba. When I try to see my shares from a Windows 2000 station, I get the following error message: I've checked the log file, I could see that these errors always have to do with the /root/tmp folder, whose permissions I think it is allright: [root@printerserver2 /root]#ls -la ... drwxrw-rw- 2 root root 4096 Feb 9 16:54 tmp/ .. Debian Stable Samba 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 upgrade - broke my config?
I upgraded Samba from 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 using apt & the Debian Stable binary packages on samba.org. Samba server was a member server for a Windows 2000 AD domain. Since then, I have been having problems connecting to it by name (\\TERABYTE) - ip address works fine, but by name I'm prompted for a username/password and nothing works. I'm guessing this is a Kerberos problem, and

Hello everyone, I'm sorry for this long post, but I think there is a real understanding problem for many people on ADS domain membership. I'm not the first to post about this type of problem, however I didn't find an answer to it in the archives and I followed the HOWTO-collection. Well, this is what I'm doing : I am using samba-3.0.1 compiled from source, MIT kerberos 1.3.1

Samba weirdness over different subnets
I've had the following setup working for years now. Subnet A contains linux/windows workstations along with the PDC+LDAP. Subnet B contains a BDC+LDAP and a domain member on the file server that windows users connect too. Whats new is I'm setting up a new domain member in Subnet B. It has joined the domain and net getdomainsid works. From machines in Subnet B I can run smbclient -L and

NT sends empty username to 3.0a21
Hi, I have samba 3.0a21 running and NT 4.0 WS clients. All workstations were previously in Samba 2.2 domain , so now I upgraded to samba 3.0a22 and just changed domain name (workstation = XXX) and rejoined workstations by changing domain name in every WS. To look at the log it seems like NT WS sends empty username? *** ldapsam_search_one_user: searching

Problem: samba refuse my user with error message : NT_STATUS_NO_ SUCH_USER
Hi all, I'm trying to make samba authenticate to my Active Directory Domain. I already configured and tested Kerberos5 and joined my machine to my domain with no problems, getent passwd and group give me the correct output also wbinfo give a good output too, and I can logon using my domain user to SSH and to my server console, so I assume my Kerberos config is correct. Also I
