Samba 3.0.14a Not restoring connections - Help ??
Hello- When our users log off for the evening and log back in in the morning they are having to re-enter the SMB password for the network shares they had saved when mapping them. In the past when the local username and password matched the smbpasswd file then all connections restored w/o a hitch. Its now not working. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Below is my small smb.conf file

Samba Domain Emu
Hi I have read that Samba can emulate an NT Domain. Is this still possible? I dont see much about it listed anymore. Is it still supported in 2.2.8a. Does anyone have any information concerning this? We would like our version to do this so we can do some testing with one of our NetApp 880's. -- Thank you TJ _________________________________ Steven ?Todd? Johnson State of Alaska Dept.

Todd Denniston - a second "thanks, again"
Almost there on getting the current US fed PIV cards working properly (and *not* pulling up the idiot coolkey stuff), and I was just looking for where ssh-agent is started automagically when you log in... and I found the thread I started early last April... and that inlcuded you, Todd, mentioning where it's started (/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc-common), so, a second tip o' th' hat to you.

Samba PDC - Administrator issues
Samba PDC is up and running. We are not using roaming profiles. My problem is this. How do we make the administrator account have administrative priv's locally on the client PC when they login on the DOMAIN? What is happening now is that when the Administrator logs in it just makes a domain accoutn for the Administrator locally but this new account does not have actualy administrator

Stable versions of Asterisk (Was: Re: Fair comparison (John Todd))
Hi, It's really a problem for new Asterisk users. I am new to Asterisk and do not know * history, which applications are stable, which are in development, and who do what? It's really hard for new users to keep the pace with CVS. So can you recommend more stable Asterisk versions, which are suitable for production environments? My needs is simple: standard switch (Call transfer,

R: R: NUT and relay on USB
So, the hardware way seems too difficult. I see the raspberry documentation in order to understand if it?s possible ?replicate? an USB signal to GPIO. So, with a TTL-USB cable I send the signal to the NVR. I hope this is possible! "Fixing the Caller-ID Problem", by John Todd for O'ReillyNet
This seems like a piece members of this list would find interesting... === There is growing concern over the interaction of VoIP systems with the legacy PSTN, and the transmission of caller identity data--most notably, Caller ID on the PSTN. It is not always possible, or obvious how, to handle Caller ID data when moving to or from VoIP and the PSTN networks. There are even business models

Timing glitch during startup of forwarded connection?
I have been chasing a reliability problem that seems to boil down to this: sshd needs a certain amount of time delay between opening a forwarded connection and receiving the first data packet for the connection. Otherwise it never forwards the data. Anyone heard of such a thing, or have an idea where to look for the problem? I see a possibly-related bug report in the archives:

Regression models w/ splines
Hi - I am fitting various Cox PH models with spline predictors. After fitting the model, I would like to use termplot() to examine the functional form of the fitted model (e.g., to obtain a plot of the relative risk (or log r.r.) versus the predictors). When there is only 1 predictor in the model, termplot returns a "?". In this case, I have not been able to figure out how to create

Ordinal data - Regression Trees & Proportional Odds
I have a data set w/ an ordinal response taking on one of 10 categories. I am considering using polr to fit a cumulative logits model. I previously fit the model in SAS (using proc logistic) which provides a test for the proportional odds assumption (p < 0.001 for the test). Are there simple diagnostic plots that can be used to look at the validity of this assumption and possibly help w/

2 D non-parametric density estimation
I have spatial data in 2 dimensions - say (x,y). The correlation between x and y is fairly substantial. My goal is to use a non-parametric approach to estimate the multivariate density describing the spatial locations. Ultimately, I would like to use this estimated density to determine the area associated with a 95% probability contour for the data. Given the strong correlation between x and
