Samba and "running old wbinfo, pam_winbind or libnss_winbind clients"
I've just installed the Samba 3.0.7 on my FreeBSD box.
I am trying to authenticate it to the Active Directory (for my Squid
server).
When I go to a webpage using the squid server, I get this error from

Winbind error
I am having two problems with winbind. I don't know if they are related.
One problem it that my log.winbindd contains this error and the error

Winbind problem related with old libnss_winbind.so and pam_winbind.so version.
Hello,
In my log.winbind I'm getting several messages like this one:
[2003/12/30 18:19:00, 0] nsswitch/winbindd.c:process_loop(725)
process_loop: Invalid request size from pid 12913: 1304 bytes sent, should
be 1568
This usually means that you are running old wbinfo, pam_winbind or
libnss_winbind clients
I suppose that the problem may be cause by old version of pam_winbind and

winbind problem
Hi,
I recently upgraded samba from 3.0.11 3.0.20. It's
integrated with squid 2.5 STABLE 7 with patches for
NTLM bugs.
I am facing problem with NTLM authentication. The

Samba 3.0.13 problems with NT4 domain
Hi,
I have tried upgrading to Samba-3.0.13 and we are having problems.
When Samba is started it reports that it has joined the domain successfully.
Although wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g returns user and group information when a
user tries to connect to the share they are just presented with a logon
dialogue box and the share is inaccessible.
The logs in /usr/local/samba/var have the

problem with authentification and winbind
Hi,
I want to use winbind for authentification. The samba server (solaris 2.6, samba version 2.2.4) is a member server in a W2K domain.
I followed the steps in the Solaris-Winbind-HOWTO.txt of Naag Mummaneni.
Joining the domain was successfull and wbinfo -t returnes secret is good.
wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g shows the domain users and groups.
But getent passwd and getent group only shows the

PANIC: internal error (lib/fault.c:fault_report)
I'm running Samba 3.0.1 in an ADS configuration (SuSE Linux 9.0). Whenever
I attempt to access the Samba server via Windows networking (network
places, etc.) I get the following error report in the smb.log. There wasn't
much available on the lists or the web on this...
Any help is appreciated.

Samba 3 & ADS current capabilities [adr]
Andrew,
Thanks for your response. This reply is actually not a request for
additional help. After much searching throught the lists and Google
along with a lot of experimentation, I think I've got it (mostly) figure
out. This post is just an effort to help others who might be struggling
with the same issues as I was. I'm sure it's far from perfect and if
anyone has suggestions on

winbind with ADS error
RedHat AS 2.1 kernel 2.4.9-e.16 with kbr5-1.2.7
I've been playing with ADS features of samba-3.0alpha21 and am having
problems getting winbind to work.
I can join the domain:
[root@asecl etc]# net ads join
Joined 'ASECL' to realm 'ASE-LRC-AD.AE.UTEXAS.EDU'
After joining the domain, I can use the other 'net ads' options of user,
group, status and info.

3.0.3 Pure Samba Domain. Servers can't list and don't recognize d omain users.
We have a Samba PDC (Mandrake 9) a BDC (RH 7.3) and a Memberserver (Solaris
2.8).
A configuration which is working OK in 3.0.1 seems to be broken in 3.0.3.
Everything (except NTLM authentication) has been working fine. After
installing 3.0.3 you cannot list domain users and the member server doesn't
recoginize users as domain members.
wbinfo gives the following results

winbindd stays at 100% CPU having joined a domain
[ Please would anyone replying to this maintain the Cc list here as my
dear colleague is not subscribed to this mailing list. ]
Hello all,
I am trying to track down an oddity with winbindd. We're using samba only
to join a given domain -- so the config file is very minimal, as per:

workgroup = TEDDYBEARS
netbios name = SMOOTHWALL
realm = TEDDYBEARS.LOCAL

Winbind doesn't authenticate users -2.2.4/RH 7.2
I have winbind authenticating against a W2K Domain Controller. It works
just fine with 2.2.3. After upgrading to 2.2.4 I can no longer authenticate
agains a W2K domain account. Everything compiles, installs, and starts
successfully Under 2.2.4. wbinfo -u gives a correct list of users, wbinfo
-t verifies that the secret is good. Howerver, running 'getent passwd' and

Correct me if I'm wrong, but apparently init_domain_list blocks until it
finds something, and process_loop is only called afterwards. Am I right?
I can patch up wbinfo to accept a command line argument for where to
read smb.conf, while this will _still_ be an ugly hack, it'll be less
ugly, and at least more usable. Will you accept it for 2_2?
