Neuling
Hallo Liste

Hi,
i learned a lot about cups, samba and printerdrivers the last few days
and hours. I found a lot of mistakes but i can't change the following

I CAN NOT delete printjobs!
I can connect to the printers, automatic download the driver, print,

Problems accessing shares on Samba from Win2000

Samba 4.10 member: SMB login no longer working
Overall domain architecture hasn't changed since my spring cleanup post
earlier (I did sort out the krb5 packages and logging settings, though).
To start the migration, I figured I'd first update the file servers,
since they're the least critical component. Upgrade 4.5 ? 4.8, 4.8 ?
4.9, 4.9 ? 4.10 seemed to work fine each step.
However, SMB logins either with smbclient or with

workaround for HFS+'s case-insensitivity?
I am using Mike Rubel's snapshot-style rsync to do backups from my web
server (Linux) to my desktop (MacOS X). Mostly, this works great,
except where case sensitivity (or rather, HFS+'s semi-lack thereof)
causes problems.
Specifically, it seems impossible to successfully back up my Linux box's
/usr/share/terminfo, as it contains directories that differ ONLY in
case (e.g.,

Automatic Printer Driver Download Access Denied
Hi,
I have a problem for implementing automatic printer driver download on
Samba 2.2.7a. When I tried to upload printer drivers from a Windows 2000
client, I could see the printers were uploaded to the printer driver
directory W32X86 under Unix. However, When I tried to apply those
changes to the printer driver, I got ?printer settings could not be
saved, Access is denied?.
The samba is

Logins differ for ip/DNS on ad dc
Thanks a lot for your help so far. The main reason I do not use vms is that
the server is pretty limited in RAM so this would only be my last resort.
To prevent confusion: srv.wie (192.168.1.50) is the same machine as smb.wie
(192.168.1.55), I seperated them just now to debug the problem.

Client station file permission behavior changes after a week or so
Sorry, but I didn't really know how to word this.
I have Univention Corporate server running as AD DC, with a UCS running
as a member fileserver.
One win10 client has file permission issues after lack of reboot or
logout/login
in roughly a weeks time. Symptom = can't write to shares even though
permissions
are correct. Sometimes files are created without honoring default ACL.
Could this

Logins differ for ip/DNS on ad dc
>
> This sounds like a dns problem, are your windows machines using the DC

yes they are using the server as dns. DNS is done through bind9 and
implemented in samba via bind9_dlz. All looks fine:
$ host -t A smb.wie
smb.wie has address 192.168.1.50
$ host -t SRV _kerberos._udp.smb.wie
_kerberos._udp.smb.wie has SRV record 0 100 88 srv.smb.wie.
$ host -t SRV

Point-and-Print driver problems with unprivileged users on XP
Hi,
I've problems to install printer drivers as a normal user with
unprivileged rights on WinXP in a samba 3.0.24 domain (debian etch)
using the "Point-and-Print" mechanism. I've read Volker Lendecke's Samba
book on page 131 footnote 1, which mention to enable "point and print".
Which reg keys do I have to set to install drivers by "Point and Print"?

Only admin user can print?
Hi all,
after upgrading a FC3 box to FC4 which comes with Samba 3.0.23a rpm's, I
have the really strange effect that /only/ "admin users" can print to
printers shared by the Samba server. Even a double click on the printer
in Win gives an "access denied".
The access to "normal" shares (homes etc.) still works fine. Any idea
what went wrong? How could I debug

magic-script fine, but how
Hi all,
I want to start a linux-script on a samba-networkserver from a win95-client.
I was kindly advised, to use the parameter magic script in smb.conf.
The listing below shows a share-section of my smb.conf. I tried the same
parameters in the global section as well.
When I open the file:
magic script = /usr/local/samba/netzwerk/magic-linux/script
and type:
/usr/local/bin/transmail

Sorry for asking the most repeated question again. Just because I could not get a proper guide for doing this. Can anyone please tell me how to make a linux system running samba server and client to connect ( log on to ) to a windows2000 based domain and act as a part of it ? Any useful link also would do.
thanks in advance :-)

Howto create roaming profiles using samba4 commands only?
Hi list,
this is my first email here :-)
Im using samba4 as ad-dc with ubuntu-14.04.1, which works. I can login
in previously created users on samba4-server with my win8-client.
Unfortunatly I wasnt able to create working roaming profiles yet.
Following the howtos in internet always need the use of windows
admin-tools for creating roaming profiles with the right permissions.

Does anyone know, if there is a tool, which is doing the follwing:
