Samba 2.2.6pre2 + ldapsam + Solaris 9
Hi, I've been unable to get samba to work with ldap over ssl or tls on a solaris 9 machine. I thought that the ldap in solaris 9 supports tls natively now. However I still get the error in my log file : > [2002/09/02 16:35:10, 0] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldap_open_connection(202) > ldap_open_connection: Secure connection not supported by LDAP client > libraries! > [2002/09/02

pam_smbpass.so passdb.tdb support
Hi, Recently I have installed samba 3.4.8 on my device. Since then ftp (vsftp, proftpd) which is taking users from samba database with pam_smbpass.so is not working. After enabling detailed log I have noticed it is looking for the passwords in smbpasswd (/etc/samba/private) which is of zero size . I think all users passwd are located in passwd.tdb.I could fix this by giving "passdb

Ldap.h missing in samba-3.0.0
I have downloaded samba-3.0.0.tar.bz2 (and samba-latest.tar.gz) and attempted to run "./configure --with-ldapsam --with-winbind --with-pam_smbpass --with-smbmount --with-ads --with-ldap" Only to find that ./configure complains of a missing ldap.h file. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm trying to do a simple setup to having a Linux box communicate to my Windows 2000 Server PDC,

Sync unix and samba passwords
Hi, We have an Exchange server (server 2003) that is a domain controller and a few Samba file servers that are not part of the Windows domain. The Samba servers use their own LDAP directory ( ldapsam backend with pam_ldap ) that is synchronized to one openldap directory server but is not synchronized to the Windows domain AD. The workstations are all local accounts and not members of any domain

pam_smbpass and ldap
On a Debian 3.0 system with user accounts stored in openldap, I have unix and windows auth working just fine through ldap. smbpasswd can change the samba passwd attributes, and passwd can change the unix password attributes. I'm trying to get pam_smbpass to work to keep everything in sync, but it only says "Failed to find entry for user test0." which indicates to me that its

pam_smbpass.so on AIX
Yet another odd one... I've got it set up now so that swat uses pam_smbpass.so, and once a user logs into swat at least once, it'll update their password in the passdb backend configured for Samba. But, I also need to ensure that when a user changes their password via passwd, it also gets updated. I added the following in /etc/security/login.cfg: usw: auth_type = PAM_AUTH and

Issues while compiling samba 3.0.2a
Dear List, First forgive me for my RTFM question yesterday about groups not appearing in the Windows usermanager (Karel Kulhav?, thanks for your reply). I did read the SAMBA HOWTO Collection but in a more 'vertical' way. This net groupmap thing must have passed my attention. I installed a prebuild version of Samba for redhat 8.0. Redhat however does not compile in ACL's in their

Broken pipe when using ssh with pam_smbpass.so migrate
Hello, I am trying to keep my samba accounts in sync with my unix accounts. I want to login ssh. Syncing passwords works. Scenario: I create a new user: useradd -m testuser passwd testuser When I log in with the user pam_smbpass should create a corresponding samba user. I modified system-auth which is included in sshd: #### /etc/pam.d/system-auth auth requisite pam_unix.so

smbpasswd fails to add machine account with ldapsam
Hi! I am seeing other users with the same problem as I have. My samba also fails to add machine accounts. It seems to me if it didn't even try. If I use some other script (pdbedit, smbldap-tools) than smbpasswd it manages to add the account but still fails to authenticate within the same session. If I try again the machine account exists and authentication goes ok. server:~# smbpasswd -a -m

Problem with "ldapsam:trusted = yes"
Hi, I updated from 3.0.11 to 3.0.12 and tried the new ldapsam:trusted parameter. Alas smbd dies silently a second after startup. With debug level 2 I can't see any reason in the logfile. My smb.conf is (relevant part I hope): ================================= [global] workgroup = BBS_XXX netbios aliases = fileserver revreselif passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://localhost

3.0.23 ldapsam:trusted=yes problem
Hi all! I've a running Samba PDC (LDAP backend) with windows clients. All the users are in the LDAP, including the 'guest' user. All except the 'root' user which is a regular user. Then change in the smb.conf ldapsam:trusted = yes ldapsam:editposix = yes and noticed some speed-up when listing groups, look file ownerships, and so on. But I can't add machines to the
