smbclient failure
I am still unable to get the following command to work correctly. The
x's replace the correct entry obviously.
smbclient -Lboss -Uxxxxxx%xxxxxxxx
I decided to run the command as root preceeded by 'truss' so I could
generate a debug output.
This is the output from the command without 'truss'

openssh-3.7.1p1 segfaults
Hi,
the following problem occurs on Solaris 2.6. openssh-3.7p1 and openssh-3.7.1p1
both show the same behaviour.
openssh is configure with:

Sync passwd and smbpasswd
I am having problems setting up the smbpasswd command to sync the /etc/passwd
and $SAMBAHOME/private/smbasswd files. My passwd program (/usr/bin/passwd %u)
doesn't seem to want to wait around for smbpasswd to send it a second password for confirmation.
I am running Solaris 2.5.1 (103640-23) on an Ultra 2300 and using Samba 1.9.18p10 compiled with gcc 2.8.1.
I thought that I had this running

OpenSSH 3.9p1 X11 forwarding
Hi,
We upgraded from 3.7.1p2 to 3.9p1. The behaviour of the X11 forwarding
changed significantly, it is much slower. See below the truss output
(server side which runs 3.7.1p2) an check for the timestamp (6 seconds
delay). Do you have any idea what may causes this behaviour? Platform is
Solaris 5.9 Generic_117171-05.
Thanks in advance,

smbsh always segfaults
Version 2.0.5a (same prob w/2.0.4b, though). smbsh segfaults after I

dumps core.
Attached is a script of an strace of it.

NFS mounted directory
Hi,
Has anyone any ideas what is causing my smbd processes to crash? The files
being accessed via samba are on an NFS mounted directory. In the samba log
file I am getting the following errors:

FW: Closing sessions and smbstatus
Perhaps I can ask a slightly different question? Is there some kind of
test I can do on a hung process so I can determine whether it's active
or not, in a script? The output of strace is below but it doesn't mean
much to me I'm afraid. Is there a straight forward difference between
strace for a "real" connection and one of my hung ones that I can use to
manually kill them?

Samba 4.1 id->user mapping slow (using winbind)
Hi,
I run a fresh debian 7 / samba 4.1 setup (using sernet's samba build). I
have a share /daten with acls.
When I do (locally)
getfacl /daten/ -R > /dev/null
the system hangs at 100% cpu wait with the samba process:

Pam trouble
Hi folks,
I can't get dovecot to authenticate properly against ldap/pam.
I've been fiddling with it for several days now, to no avail. It keeps crashing
with:
Child died with signal 11
The system is Solaris9. Enclosed is a trace of dovecot-auth for a connection to
pop with correct username and password and my config.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers

gencache.tdb: device busy
I added LOG statements to mutex.c printing the strerror from the return values.
From
ret = pthread_mutexattr_init(&ma); in line 570
I got errorno 16 --> device busy.
But due the manual of pthread_mutex_attr_init() there should only be ENOMEM and EINVAL...
Doing gdb smbd -> run
Doe not reveal anything, but I never used gdb for debugging anything. I just gave it a shot...

performance problem on bridgehead DC
Hi Louis,
Move up to 4.7 is planned soon but I'm little scared to update bridgehead if it actually had performance problem.
I would like to fix all problem before updating.
My smb.conf is really simple:
[global]
workgroup = PR
realm = pr.educationetformation.fr
netbios name = DC000
server role = active directory domain controller
bind interfaces only

smbd's using up 100% of all cpu's and load avg slowly going up
Hi,
Yes, I already thought about it.
I have the sernet repo installed.. Is possible to yum update and jump
from 4.1.6 to 4.1.14 directly, without problems or should I follow some
kind of procedure to avoid future problems?
Regards,
Bruno Andrade.

Samba 3.0.4 and DOS 6.2.2 - MSDOS Copy problem
Hello, I am having a problem with Samba 3.0.4 and DOS clients. The
MSDOS COPY command will not work on mapped directories. When I try to
run the COPY command I get an "File not found" error message. This only
happens on DOS, all other OS's work fine.
I have noticed that someone else on this list has also run into this
problem, but no answer/work-around is posted.
Here is my

CLDAP using CPU alltime on Samba 4.8.4
Hi,
My Samba AD-DC installation is using CPU all time on a process. I'm trying
everything to fix it, but without success.
It started when using it on Ubuntu 16.04, I upgraded o Ubuntu 18.04, and
now Ubuntu 18.10, that is using Samba 4.8.4 and the problem persist.
Using samba-tool process, I could see that the process using resources is
CLDAP.
I did samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs

performance problem on bridgehead DC
Jessie also has the problem, even before the meltdown patches.
The kernel 3.16.x had ksoftirqd probems, eating up cpu cicles.
Make sure you use kernel 4.9.0-6
And i suggest move up to samba 4.7.x or 4.7.4 from debian/buster,
Or use my 4.6.12/4.7.6 packages for stretch, or ask if Tranquil.it can make them.
The 4.6.14 is still in the make atm for stretch, 4.6.14 for jessie is done.
And last,
