2.6 /ext3 and audio
http://www.alsa-project.org/~iwai/audio-latency.pdf seems to suggest that ext3 should not be used with 2.6 kernels for audio work. Why is this, and is there likely to be any improvement? - Richard. -- Richard Kimber http://www.psr.keele.ac.uk/

How are alternate superblocks repaired?
Hi, Using dumpe2fs I have been able to determine that all of my alternate ext3 superblocks are corrupted (not clean), and only the primary superblock is valid, i.e. mount works and the ordered journal is applied. When the primary superblock gets flakey, i.e. the ext_attr Filesystem feature goes missing - not sure why this occurs. At this point, the mount does not apply the journal using the

e2fsck errors after lvextend when trying to resize2fs
I found a thread that has almost the exact same symptoms as me, but didn't seem to come to a resolution: https://listman.redhat.com/archives/ext3-users/2004-December/msg00018.html I have an LVM(2) array that I've just lvextend'd and want to resize2fs, but I can't get through the e2fsck. I get these errors when fsck-ing: Group 3125's inode table at 102400545 conflicts with

Parameterized Samples Withdrawn
Although the parameterized samples have allowed people to get a firewall up and running quickly, they have unfortunately set the wrong level of expectation among those who have used them. I am therefore withdrawing support for the samples and I am recommending that they not be used in new Shorewall installations. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Shorewall - iptables made easy AIM: tmeastep \

Assertion failure in do_get_write_access() at transaction.c:609:
Hi all (and developers in particular) I just got bitten by this Assertion. The one that starts as in the subject, and ends with: "!(((jh2bh(jh))->b_state & (1UL << BH_Lock)) != 0)" Google reminds me that it was mentioned a few times earlier this year, but I couldn't find any statement saying that it has been fixed. I got this in a 2.4.16 kernel, though the

OT: cisco 7960G powered by 3com 3CNJPSE
Is anyone using a 3com 3CNJPSE to power a 7960G? I have a couple of 7960Gs and 3CNJPSEs but no combination appears to work. Both phones work fine with a cisco power cube. I get a 47.6V reading across pins 5 and 8 on the patch cable coming from the 3CNJPSE. The network still works through the 3CNJPSE, just no power to the phone until I connect the power cube. 3.0.2 AFS login problem, Solaris 2.5.1
I've been beating myself senseless trying to build OpenSsh 3.0.1 on Solaris 2.5.1 and get AFS login working. The symptoms of the problem are: sshd builds (used --with-afs and -with-kerberos4 - there is no PAM on this box), accepts connections from non-AFS users, but does not accept a connection from an AFS user; the user sees "permission denied" after entering the password. using round-robin dns for sip registrations
I finally decided to get a little source code dirt under my fingernails tonight and dig through chan_sip.c to understand how registrations are currently implemented. The hope is to perhaps at least seed some ideas about how to make registrations to a server name, which resolves to multiple IPs, either attempt each IP in the order they're returned by dns, or, simply attempt to register with

Redirect\Cookie bug with MSIE 5.5sp2
Hello all, There seems to be a bug in internet explorer 5 where a redirect causes the session to be lost. A controller says.... def login case @request.method when :post if @session[:user] = User.authenticate(@params [:user_login], @params[:user_password]) return redirect_to(:action=>''send_confirmation'') unless

performance issue with overwritten files
Hi Guys, I have experienced a recent performance issue with an ext2 filesystem. Essentially I have had several files that get overwritten on average once per day. This has been happening for about a hear when the program accessing and reading those files started from several milliseconds to 15-20 seconds to open and read the file. Moving the directory to a new name and copying the contents

OT: High Quality Wireless Headset for Cisco IPPhones and *
Tom - here are a few suggestions Plantronics 510SL Bluetooth - they make a bundle that comes with a Bluetooth transceiver and a handset lifter. This is nice if you have users that already have Bluetooth headsets for their mobile phones, as it allows you to sync with their office phone as well. http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/cat29880043/cat2 9880054/prod5460016

(sort-of xposted from linux-kernel) Hi, I am wondering how to interpret this error message, which popped up on a 2.4.26 SMP x86 box two days ago: EXT2-fs: corrupt root inode, run e2fsck init_special_inode: bogus imode (37316) EXT2-fs: corrupt root inode, run e2fsck init_special_inode: bogus imode (37316) EXT2-fs: corrupt root inode, run e2fsck The problem is, the error message doesn't

Compile help for Solaris 10 x86, samba 3.0.28a deficient?
Hi all, I've got an ongoing battle with samba shipped with Sun Solaris 10 in it's current form (Samba version 3.0.28a) not wanting to talk to my OpenLDAP master correctly. Essentially, under certain conditions, this behaviour is observed, in the log.smbd: [2008/10/11 08:54:03, 1, pid=13610] libsmb/cliconnect.c:(1451) Error connecting to 192.168.117.150 (Connection refused)
