Samba 2.2.8, Solaris 2.5.1, NIS+ FOLLOWUP REDUX
We have the following fix that appears to work: In the source/nsswitch/wb_client.c file modify the winbind_initgroups function with the following change: change the call initgroups(user, gid) to setgroups(1,&gid) Any comments or perhaps a better fix? -----Original Message----- From: Slawinski, Robert [mailto:SlawinsR@ncr.disa.mil] Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2003 10:16 AM To:

Samba 2.2.8, Solaris 2.5.1, NIS+
First off, we are forced to using said versions and NIS+, so no flaming on those issues please. Also, the samba version we recieved was forced upon us and we are not allowed to recompile, however in a test environment we've compiled both with and without NIS+ support and the same errors are generated. When removing nisplus from group entry of nsswitch.conf samba works fine. With nisplus

dovecotpw/sql crypt scheme core dump with rc17-19
Platform is Solaris 8 on a 280R. I'm setting up a new installation of Dovecot, and I ran into some troubles that I've partly tracked down. I setup auth/user dbs with LDAP initially, and things worked well. Passwords are stored as "{crypt}zxcv..." in LDAP. I setup SQL, and began getting this: dovecot: Jan 23 16:37:47 Error: child 8718 (auth-worker) killed with signal 11

imap crashes on deleting an e-mail with no message-id.
Hi, I'm on RC21 on a Solaris 10 SPARC box. Somehow I managed to receive an e-mail with no message-id and when dovecot tries to delete the e-mail. Viewing the e-mail is not a problem though. I attached truss to the imap process and this was what I received: pollsys(0x000B7A88, 3, 0xFFBFF870, 0x00000000) = 0 pollsys(0x000B7A88, 3, 0xFFBFF870, 0x00000000) = 0 pollsys(0x000B7A88, 3,

Help! Uidlist files are gone and won't come back; imap keeps coredumping!
Folks - Some time ago as I migrated to dovecot 1.0, I ran into all sorts of problems with file locks, and I tried various solutions. Apparently, in the process, I got a bit careless and removed all my dovecot-uidlist files. They're gone. My understanding, however, is that they should come back, but this doesn't happen. I've been forced to run with index=MEMORY in 1.0 for

problem with samba 3.0.28/Solaris 8/smbclient
Dear Samba users, I am trying to update our local samba packages to 3.0.28. They are built against heimdal-1.0.1 and openldap-2.3.38. The Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4 packages are working fine so far in my limited testing. The problem with heimdal and "net ads join..." has been fixed on all 3 platforms. On the Solaris 8 server, the "net ads join..." works correctly and the

Add new user -> swat core dump
Hi there, I have a problem when I try to create a new user with swat. I use binaries of Samba 2.2.2 coming from www.samba.org, or from www.sunfreeware.com on Solaris 2.6 and on 8. I compiled the sources and the result is the same. When I click on "Add New User" (Server Password Management), I receive a nearly blank page: I can only see the samba gif on top and the user is not

dsync crash
Hello, I am getting a persistent seg fault while trying to sync our server to a new location. We are on 2.2.33.2, due for an upgrade but we have used dsync successfully in the past. In fact, we used it to populate this same instance. So I hope this is just a configuration issue. My logs are being filled with these errors:: 2019-07-10T08:29:53-04:00 localhost dovecot: [ID 583609 mail.crit]

NIS+ support in samba....
Hi all, I know this has probably been spoke about before, but I'm looking for some documentation or other info on setting up NIS+ with samba.... I currently have samba running on the NIS+ master, but am having trouble setting up authentication again the NIS+ passwd tables. I'm also not exactly sure where smbpasswd comes into play with NIS+ and if I actually need to run that everytime I

NIS+
Hi, The current method of hard coding at compile time which password database Samba is to use is a little inconvenient. The same binaries cannot be used for files/NIS+/LDAP. An extra samba.conf option eg. database files nis+ ldap could be used to give the databases allowed and the preferred search order. If the default was: database files then the compile options with_nisplus and with _ldap

Solaris2.6/NIS+/Samba/NT-users
Hello, I have 20 Solaris 2.6-servers with NIS+ in different cities and countries and a lot of NT4 servers in different domains and I use samba with nis+ support on the Solaris-enviroment to let the NT-users access their unix-home-directories.
