oplock problem on NTUSER.DAT
Hi, I'm on a network with a Samba 2.2.8a fileserver + PDC (Mandrake Linux 9.0) and various Win2000 Pro clients. Very often, when I log off from one client and log on a different one soon after, I get an error message telling me that the remote profile cannot be loaded, and the local one will be used, as if the profile was still locked by the previous session. One peculiar thing to notice is

Group mapping only working for initial group?
Hello, on my Samba 3.0.14a PDC (Debian Woody) I created a local unix group named "gpusers". Then I mapped it to a new NT domain group named "GPPower": # net groupmap add rid=1005 ntgroup="GPPower" unixgroup=gpusers Then added a user "mdv", who already had its own initial group "mdv", to the new gpusers group: # usermod -g mdv -G gpusers mdv

Re: Winpopup message to all user on a PDC
Ok that is pretty much what I do.. Except.. Most of my net sends don't end up working.. They fail unless I explicitly do a nmblookup and specify the broadcast to find that computer.. Seeing how im dealing with the entire contents of 10.x.x.x around 20,000 computers that I may have to contact for some reason.. Its easy for me to know there netbios name.. As its there login name.. However

NTUSER.DAT, user's settings
Hallo! I have reinstalled the server, specially the Samba PDC. I copied all the data back and the system seemed to work. People were able to log on and had the drives mapped. Now, at the day "0" after reinstall, the users cannot work. The user's settings on the "Windows 2k Professional" machines are not adopted. They all have their desktops and own documents, but the

Cannot change SID on NTUSER.DAT file
Hi. I have just changed to the latest version of samba on a CentOS 5.4 machine as I now have Win7 computers in the domain. [root] #>smbd -V Version 3.5.4-0.83.el5_7.2 On the old version (I think 3.0.29) I was able to change the SID on any NTUDER.DAT file happily. Now I cannot change SID on any NTUSER.DAT file. However, I can log into the domain using the username that is attached to the

ntuser.dat corrupt?
I'm new to this list but we've been using Samba on our Sun Ultra running Solaris (Sunos 5.6) for several months. We have a single x86 NT server and several NT, '95 and '98 workstations on the network. We are running Samba 1.9.18p10 and were running 1.9.18.p4 previously. We are running with no password encryption. The following problem occurred in both versions. The problem

[4.3.11-Ubuntu] SMBD keeps Locks on NTUSER.DAT and ntuser.ini after logout
After having migrated my machines and user to Samba 4.3.11 on Ubuntu 16.04.1 (no domain upgrade, new provision, all accounts new defined) and old data copied over to the new machines, I have now a broader testbed and notice issues I didn't see prior to that. Having roaming profiles (defined in the user object in LDB)... Seemingly at random smbd keeps locks on NTUSER.DAT and ntuser.ini for a

What are the implications of locking the ntuser.dat file on the user's server profile? That is, if I make the ntuser.dat file read-only, what affects will that have on the client?

How to change SID in ntuser.dat?
Hello, i try to migrate user/groups from NT4 PDC to Samba3 with LDAP backend. There is already an NIS-Server with Samba runing, so there exists two userlists. I migrated the user/ groups from windows via net rpc vampire and added/changed the UID?s from the NIS-Server but didn?t change the SID. A teammate told me, there could be some access problems, if i don?t change the SID. So i tried to change

Missing [homes]
Hi, I configured Samba as fileserver+PDC for a network populated by Win2000 clients, starting from a smb.conf I found in a guide and editing it to suit my needs. For example, I removed the [homes] section, because I don't need users to be able to access their Linux home directories, and having that section active caused the home shares to appear in the network neighbourhood tree. Request for Assistance in R with NonMem
Hi I am having some problems running a covariate analysis with my colleage using R with the NonMem program we are using for a graduate school project. R and NonMem run fine without adding in the covariates, but the program is giving us a problem when the covariate analysis is added. We think the problem is with the R code to run the covariate data analysis. We have the control stream, R code

wine 1.0 and ie 5.5
ok, i'm NO expert but I can learn a LOT of things. I have used wine very sparingly in the past, enough to know that IE, outlook and a few other "Win Only" apps will run. So when wine 1.9 was released i figure i HAD to have it. but BOY its a lot different. Installation was smooth, MDV rpms work as expected, but thats where it ends. I use the same IE5.5 install source I have used

migrate profile from an old server to a new one - SID and ntuser.dat problem
Hi, my problem is the following: i am trying to replace an old SUSE 8.2, Samba 2.2 domain controller with a SUSE 9.3 system with samba 3.0 as PDC. Everything works fine, i can join the new domain, i replaced the machine and domain sid from the new server with the old ones. But how can reuse the profiles from the old machine at the new one? If i make a simple remote copy, the settings of the

Profiles -- default user ntuser.dat not being used at first logon
I'm trying to set up for my small school lab: Samba as PDC, 11 workstations running XP Pro, roaming profiles with folder redirection. (I finally got the workstations to join the domain by adding them by hand--so I assume something is wrong with my add machine script, but I'll address that issue later, since I have only the 11 XP boxes to deal with.) Now I'm working on getting the

Meaning of user.DOSATTRIB
Hai, This is al about samba ea ( extended attibutes ) support. Samba can map attibutes in two ways: Mapping DOS file attributes to UNIX permissions Storing the DOS attributes in extended file attributes The user.DOSATTRIB extended attribute contains a bit field indicating the state of each DOS attribute: Read-Only = 0x1 Hidden = 0x2 System = 0x4 Archive = 0x20 and in smb.conf related
