smbldap.c
Hi ! I was just wondering if that piece of code was important (for security and such), because I had to comment it in smbldap.c before compiling samba-3.0; otherwise, I would have errors like: "(Insufficient access)smbldap_open: cannot access LDAP when not root" #ifndef NO_LDAP_SECURITY if (geteuid() != 0) { DEBUG(0, ("smbldap_open: cannot access LDAP

Cannot Access LDAP when not root...
I'm trying to resolve an issue with Samba and LDAP. I'm using a program called Spider that provides network based rendering using domain logons to controll who can access the renders on the farm. It requires a group called SpiderAdmin to be setup (which I've done) and have added the users into the group. However, the only way that the SpiderAdmin users can access the renders on the

LDAP access problem
Hi, My Samba-3.0.0 is configured as PDC. I've joined a W2k wks on this domain and everything works perfectly. However, when I try to add ACL on a file or directory located on the server, the display of the 1700 users and 570 groups take a while (20-30 sec), the slapd process use about 90% of CPU. In the slapd.conf index objectClass pres,eq index uidNumber eq index gidNumber eq index cn

Can a user belong to two groups in Samba ???
Hi, I'm using samba 3b3 (+ldapsam) and have created a user belonging to two groups : - his primary group is mapped to the "Domain Users" Windows group, - his secondary one is mapped to the "Domain Admins" Windows group. Unfortunately, only the first group seems to be known by Samba, since the user doesn't become a "Domain Admin" at all (but he is a

Samba 3.0.1pre3/ldap - Strange gid mappings server side
Good day, I'm running some tests with Samba 3.0.1pre3 with an LDAP sam. LDAP has been, to the best of my abilities, properly populated with the needed group mappings. The "net groupmap list" command indeed shows the following: [root@box bin]# ./net groupmap list Domain Admins (S-1-5-21-2009448231-1530593524-1969381020-512) -> domadm Domain Users

Hi, we have Samba 2.2.8a+LDAP 2.0.27 domain controllers running on our Debian servers and I'm preparing the update to Samba 3.0.0. Should I wait for the next Samba release before switching to 3.x? The error messages: When a user logs into the

Hello, I'm running Samba 3.0.0 on a PDC server with LDAP. I tested the latest version (3.0.1) on a test server with the same config files. But I get the following message in my logs if /var/lib/samba/group_mapping.tdb 's mode is set to 600 (like it is set in my 3.0.0 server). smbldap_open: cannot access LDAP when not root
Hi ! I though I solved my "add users to the doman admins group" by chmod /usr/local/private/secrets.tdb to 644, but in fact I still have the same problem. For now, I'm concentrating about something that's in my log file: [2003/09/15 17:39:53, 0] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldapsam_search_one_group(1634) ldapsam_search_one_group: Problem during the LDAP search: LDAP error:
