Mounting Shares from a Windows Server 2003 DC
I know this question has been asked several times, and I appoligize for
this being as long as it is, but I'm hoping someone may have it figured
out by now. Here is the situation: I can mount a share from my Windows
XP machine (RA), and from another Windows Server 2003 machine (MAAT).
But not from my Windows Server 2003 domain controller (BASTET). I am

smbpasswd stops working post-upgrade
Background
I have a network of machines behind an air-gap, therefore upgrades are a
tedious business normally performed four times per year. The systems
run various versions of CentOS and I use the Samba that is distributed
with CentOS. Last weekend I updated the 5.7 machines with updates to 18
April 2016, not the current 5.8. Those of my users who run Windows
boxes (Windows 7 Enterprise)

windows server 2003 shares (smbmount & signing or cifs & kerberos)
hello everyone,
the old problem persists :X I'm currently running Novell Linux Desktop
9 (SP2) featuring a 2.6.5series kernel. Smbclient (3.0.14a-0.4-SUSE)
seems to support signing negotiation.. at least the following command
works just fine:
smbclient -k -L //hostname
turning signing off manually (-S off) ends up in the common error
message cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have

cifs samba mailing list
For two days now I've tried for two days now to get cifs working on a
redhat 9.0 2.4.20 based linux box. I followed the instructions given at
http://de.samba.org/samba/Linux_CIFS_client.html, i.e. compiling
cifs-0.6.8 and mount.cifs rev. 1.2.2.1. I successfully loaded the cifs.o
as a module and following the given examples I tried:
[root@r151-101 cifs]# /sbin/mount.cifs //raid/demo

samba and very large files
I am seeing a problem that I am not sure how to fix and since I have
never had to use samba for anything major like this I am not sure where
to go. So, here is goes!
I have a few Gentoo systems that currently have a bunch of data on them.
I have been tasked with getting data from some Windows machines to the
Gentoo systems so that we can dump the Windows machines. So, the windows
machines are

Got strange message when using wbinfo/winbind on Samba-3 beta3
Hi,
I have joined a ADS (W2003 server) with success.
Started winbindd.
When I run any wbinfo commands I recieve the following message
in the logfile and the command fails:
cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it.
I am using the same smb.conf as for beta1 and beta2.
What have changed or what have missed ?
I am running on Solaris 9.

SMB 3.0 & W2003: cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory ...
Hi!
I'm trying to connect to a share on a Windows 2003 server with samba

Samba-HOWTO-Collection to include the following:
client use spnego = yes
When I try to connect to the server, I get the following error:
cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it

Q: mount -t smbfs: "cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it."
Hi,
I was trying smbmount (SuSE's samba-client-3.0.20b-3.4). The mount command
replied:
cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it.
9451: protocol negotiation failed
SMB connection failed
No I'd suggest to change the message at least: It's unclear who "we" is: The Samba
Team, the client, or the server
The server is a "Windows 2003 server",

Cannot connect to a windows network
Hello,
I am trying to use Samba to let me mount windows network drives on an
Ubuntu Dapper Server installation that I am using as a desktop.
Using:
testparm
my smb.conf seems to be ok.
Using
smbclient -L GM.local -U username -p
Gives me a full listing of all network drives, which again seems to be
good. So now I try this:
sudo mount -t smbfs -o username=username \//GM.local/DC4

CIFS and DFS
hello,
maybe this is the wrong place, but according to
http://us1.samba.org/samba/Linux_CIFS_client.html
linux kernel cifs should be able to handle M$ dfs shares. I looked at the
installation and usage instructions but it doesn't work. On the mount.cifs
manpage I found no hint about a special switch to activate dfs parsing.
Can anybody put some light into this?

samba3 to Win 2003, signing mandatory but disabled?
I am trying to get samba working again, since my employer upgraded to a
Windows Server 2003.
I have installed samba-3.0.2a-1_rh9.i386.rpm to my Linux (RedHat 9) system.
I can connect to other machines in my domain, read/write files, etc. When I
try smbmount on the Windows server, I get this error:
cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it.

Update from 3.5.10 to 3.6.23 broke cupsaddsmb
As an update to fix the badlock vulnerability I applied some updates to
our (RHEL5-based) samba printer server last night, taking it from version
0:3.5.10-0.109.el5_8 to 0:3.6.23-12.el5_11 (rpm package versions).
After this change attempts to add printer drivers with cupsaddsmb produced
errors of the form:
Running command: rpcclient localhost -N -A /tmp/cupsc7GVnF -c 'adddriver

problems mounting Win2003 Server Share - smbclient is working smbmount is not
Hi,
this is my first post to this list.
I have to mount an Win2003 SmallBusinessServer share to my linux box.
So far so good.
The user "user" exists with the same pass on the linux-box like in the
ActiveDirectory at the Win2003-Server.
I added the user with smbpasswd -a user .
I joined the domain with:
net rpc join -S domain -U user
mount -t smbfs -o username=user,workgroup=domain,rw
