R: Windows 2K roaming profiles
Thanks Darpha,
I did that before i sent the mail. But my problem is strange..let me explain..
The computer existed before i installed the samba server..The user was using the login as 'administrator' user, and had alot of stuff. Later on i changed the 'administrator' login as the "user account name" say tom, on the server. Now he logs on into his machine(no samba till

Question: Are Samba 2.2.7 (AIX build) + > 2GB file transfers from Win2K supported?
Is there a known limitation with large (> 2GB) files across samba CIFS
connections to an AIX samba server?
My environment:
Server:
AIX 5.1
Samba 2.2.7 (from IBM's AIX Toolbox for Linux Applications)
JFS
Client:
Windows 2000 (SP4)
Symptoms:
Both the AIX and Windows file systems support large files (tested to a
size of 12GB). An ftp of a 6.3GB file between both machines

Re: Windows 2000 don't fetch user.DOMAIN profile
running echo %userprofile% from a windows command prompt will tell you
exactly where your user profile is located.
running set will give you all your environment settings.

Very slow execution of programs from a SAMBA share
Hi.
I've run into a significant performance problem,
where Samba shares are fine except for programs executed
from the shares, which take about 100x longer to launch
than expected.
Copying local Windows directories with large files to the
Samba share is getting 30 Mbytes/second. However, trying
to run programs from the same samba share is taking 30 seconds
to 5 minutes to launch the

icecast 2.x & a control panel?
I don't know of any such tool...but maybe I'm out of the loop.
If writing your own, I'd humbly suggest using Webmin as the framework.
It handles a lot of the 'grunt work' for you, and makes writing web
based server administration tools a breeze. Unless you have an aversion
to perl, it's a great starting place. With Webmin based modules, you
get fine grained ACLs,

Error connecting WinXP client to Samba PDC: DNS name does not exist / RCODE_NAME_ERROR
Hi!
I so far succeeded in setting up a Samba NT4 DC with OpenLDAP backend.
Unfortunately I get the following error message connecting a Windows XP
client to the domain (translated from german):
[...]
The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)
The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.lohrmann.de

This is surely due to a

Slow browsing from Win2k and WinXP
Hi,
I have Samba 3.0.14a + OpenLDAP 2.2.24 installed on Solaris 8 as a PDC for
serving files only (no profiles, no printing). Performance of network
browsing is slow in Windows 2000 and XP, taking 10-15 seconds to open and
display the contents of a folder. The same browsing activity from a Mac
works fine with no unacceptable delays. I'm trying to sell Samba here, but
these delays are

Very Slow Transfers from Win2K to Linux over Samba
I'm having a slight problem with Samba. For a few months now I've used
Samba on my Linux box to access my songs on my Win98 machine over a 10MBit
Ethernet without any problems. Now that I've upgraded to Win2K, my uploads
are down to about 30k/s and my downloads to about 1k/s. Changing SO_SNDBUF
to 1200 made the uploads quite a bit better, jolting back and forth but
averaging about

Can't map samba drive from Win2K SP2 Server
I am running smbd version 2.0.9 and cannot map to a samba share from a
Windows 2000 SP2 Server. I can however map from the samba server to the
win2k Server. I can also map from the Windows Server to a windows 2000 Pro
laptop on the same network, so I know that the server can map shares outside
of itself. I can also map from a Win2K pro client and from other unix boxes
to the samba server.

lockups with windows 2000 client, every 15 minutes or so
I have just entered the wonderful world of windows filesharing at my
small home LAN and I'm experiencing the following problem: When I
continually listen to ogg files in Windows 2000 Server from a samba
server the music locks up every 15 minutes or so. Everything in the
windows gui suffers from terrible preformance until i get to disconnect
the share from the samba server, then everything

Samba 2.2.7 as a PDC on FreeBSD 4.8 and a Windows 2K Pro client
I found what looks like a pretty good HOWTO type document at IBM on setting
up Samba as a PDC. Samba is up and running using this config.
The client Win2K Pro machine was in an office environment - but not sure if
it was a NT 4.0 domain env or AD env. So I'm trying to put it into the
Samba PDC domain which I've got called NONROUTABLE. I've followed the
directions for setting up

Samba PDC for Win2k and WinXP Pro
I have samba 2.2.7 running on a RedHat Linux 7.3 system that is being used as a PDC and a file server for a group of Windows 2k and Windows XP Pro computers. I am having a problem with the roaming profiles working on both the 2k and XP machines. The profiles seem to load fine when you log on, but when you log off it will only copy the ntuser.dat file and then a few more files (seems to go to

Slow File transfer between Samba and Win2k
I have a Samba file server and a dual boot Win98/Win2k client. Copying file from the Client in Win98 to the Samba server gives no problems:
(I copied one 6 mb file)
Samba server -> Win98 Client 550 kb/s
Samba server <- Win98 Client 500 kb/s
But then from Samba server to Win2k Client:
Samba server -> Win2k Client 190 kb/s
Samba server <- Win2k Client 18 kb/s

[LLVMdev] bug? c backend produces code rejected by gcc4.0.1: array type has incomplete element type
The C backend can currently (recent head) produce code with such patterns:

declaration */
typedef struct l_structtype_s l_structtype_s;
/* Structure contents */
struct l_structtype_s {
int field0;
};
