define subgroups based on position in table
Dear list,
I have a data frame with one column (group) and want to add a second column (sub) with a serial number that says to which subgroup a cell belongs. A subgroup contains the consecutive rows of the same group. The number of a subgroup is based on its position in the table. The first subgroup of A's and B's should have nr A1 and B1, the second nr A2 and B2, etc.. I hope the

Samba AD DC: share access denied
Hey Samba,
For the last year I've been trying to set up a Samba Active Directory with a share which will hold the profiles of users so that Windows users can be implemented with the roaming profiles functionality.
I started out with an Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS on which I configured routing, forwarding and dhcp. After which I followed the Setting up Samba as an Active Directory Domain

Samba dns update failing
Hey Samba!
I'm trying to join a Samba file server to the Samba PDC and although it
works well I have some issues regarding the DNS. Whenever I try to run
samba_dnsupdate I get the following response.

High cpu load
Server is PII-350MHz/256 MB RAM, hardware mirrored high speed SCSI disks.
Installed is SuSE 8.2 with Samba 2.2.8a RPM, XFS filesystems and LPRng as
printservices. Server acts as PDC and WINS server.
Clients are W2K SP2 (a few with SP3). There are +/- 100 clients.
We see a server that is 100% busy and we see during a long time a very high CPU
load (60- 95%) related to one W2K client. When

SSL_PARAMETERS_PERM_PATH
Hi,
I am not on this list so please CC me.
Using dovecot-1.2.x it seems we can not configure the location of ssl-
parameters.dat.tmp, it is hard coded to be in PKG_STATEDIR:
./src/master/master-settings.c:
#define SSL_PARAMETERS_PERM_PATH PKG_STATEDIR"/"SSL_PARAMETERS_FILENAME
This can lead to problems when you're running multiple instances on
one machine. Apart from that, it

Domain login - XP 64 -> Samba
I currently have samba setup as a file/login server. A variety of
clients running Windows 2000 and XP 32-bit authenticate normally without
any issues. I just brought up a Windows XP 64-bit box made the standard
group policy changes and joined the domain without any issues. When
attempting to login against the domain Windows returns "A remote

How to detect a printer across a network?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
The shares are browsable again, but the printer can not get detected.
If i list the shares from the PC the printer is connected to, it is
visible..
But somehow it is not visible in konqueror, en thus not selectable.
I used to use the ip adress, but since we are behind a router, these
adresses vary...

Can't create users and groups
Hi,
I'm making a qmail RPM.
All goes well, except that the users and groups are not being created.
And they must be before running "make setup check".
I've tried all locations in the spec file, but nothing :(
Following my signature is the relevant part of the spec file.
Any help would be appreciated.
Warm Regards

Can't expand ~ for mail root dir
Hi,
I am not an this list, I hope it gets through:
We just moved from dovecot-1.2.12 to dovecot-2.0.6.
One of our users wants his mail directly in his homedir which worked
fine so far but with 2.0.6:

listen = ipv4, ipv6
Hi,
We want dovecot to listen on a specific ip4 & ipv6 addresses like so:
listen = 145.58.1.1, [2a02:458:1::1]
But on startup it tells me:
Fatal: service(managesieve-login) Can't resolve address [2a02:458:1::1]: Name or service not known
Wether it is in the dns or not.
If I however change the listen directive to:
listen = f.qd.nl
where f.qd.nl resolves to an ip4 and ipv6 address

Standalone Samba and group permission
Hi,
I have been experimenting and googling without finding so much as a hint to what I am doing wrong.
I have a Samba server (Ubuntu 10.04) set up for standalone usage.
I have Posix ACL's enabled on my filesystem, and a directory with the following permissions:
# file: beheer/
# owner: beheerder
# group: users
user::rwx
user:clamav:r-x
user:beheerder:rwx
group::---
group:users:---
mask::rwx

3.0.21c: idmap_rid segfaults on AIX 5.3 ML4
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use idmap_rid on an AIX 5.3 ML4 machine. Samba compiled
successfully using the IBM compiler (vac.C) version 6. The only
programs I supplied where db and libiconv.
I followed the instructions, and put nsswitch/WINBIND in /usr/lib/security,
and edited /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg.
When I start "winbindd -i", it coredumps with a Signal 11:
