Profiles not working with W2K SP4, Samba 3.0.0beta2 (already posted but got no answer)
Hello, I still have a problem with my Samba installation. Userprofiles don't work under W2K SP4. They work fine with Windows NT 4. When loggin on for the first time the user profile directory is created. After loggin off however no data is written to the profile directory on the Samba PDC. When logging on there ist the following activity in the logs (debug level = 1; log.pc1): =====>

Roaming Profiles only for Admin?
Hi all, I am currently fighting with roaming user profiles which shall be stored on an Ubuntu 8.04 Xeon (64 bit) box. I'm running the stock Ubuntu packages (version 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.4). The Ubuntu box runs as PDC with a LDAP backend. Adding a Win 2000 SP4 workstation to the domain works flawlessly. If I log on on the workstation with a root-like account (UNIX user id 0, UNIX

Problems with GID Samba 3.0.0 Beta2 Debian Testing
Hello, I've got a somehow weird problem with the primary GID of samba users. passdb backend is tdbsam. when I connect to the samba server my gid is set to 2147483404 instead of 1002 (domainusers). The GID 1002 ist configured as my primary group in /etc/passwd. This also happens with other usernames. After deleting group_mapping.tdb this worked for some hours but the error came back.

again chroot
Hello out there! I've searched this list up and down in order to find a clue about restricting sftp or scp to a defined path or to a chroot jail. It seems there has been development on some patches but I can't find further information. Is there any support or planned support for restricting sftp or scp to a certain path? If there is already support for this, does anybody have a howto

Using ACLs with Samba 2.2.2 on a 2.4.10 Kernel
Hello out there again! I have a problem with ACLs: I build Samba 2.2.2 with ACL support. ACLs are 0.7.21 (from acl.bestbits.at) on a 2.4.10 Kernel. ACLs are working fine within Linux. When I connect to a Samba share from a Windows NT Workstation or Server, I only see the three standard acls representing world, group and owner. I have several files with acls for testing but non of this acls is

Swat not authenticating root but other users work (PAM Problem?)
Hello, I've got a little problem with Samba 3.0.0beta2-1 on Debian/unstable. SWAT cannot authenticate the user root. In auth.log I see the following entry: Jul 22 10:09:59 samba samba(pam_unix)[3709]: authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=samba ruser= rhost=0.0.0.0 user=root This only happens to the user root. All other users can use SWAT. Maybe this is a PAM configuration

Installing windows drivers into print$ on OS X 10.5 Leopard
Has anyone had any success installing windows printer drivers onto a leopard-hosted print$ share? If I use the Add Printer Wizard method, if copies the driver files to \ \SERVER\print$\W32X86 then fails with an "Operation cannot be completed." If I use the rpcclient method I get a WERR_INVALID_PARAM error. Using the Adobe Generic PostScript driver as an example.

domain admin
Hi ! I'm desperately looking for an answer here... I've been fighting all week-end with samba-3.0 and there's still something I can't do... Basically: how can I add some of my users to the Domain admin group ? I use FreeBSD-5.1+samba3.0RC3. My group maps: Admins du domaine (S-1-5-21-xxxx-512) -> domainadmins Utilisa. du domaine (S-1-5-21-xxxx-513) -> domainusers Invites du

adding machines to the domain with Samba 3.0.0
Is there something special I need to do to let root add computers to the domain in 3.0? When I try to add the workstation I get an error about 'user not found' even though I can logon to a workstation joined to the domain as 'root'. I was able to add computers to the domain with 2.2.8 with an 'add user command' entry and 'domain admin group = root' in my

how can I be a domain admin in 3.0RC3 ?
Hi ! I'm using samba-3.0RC3 as a PDC (for testing). I'm using the ldap backend. I created 1 user, 1 computer and some groups. I mapped the unix groups domainadmins to "Domain admins" with my_personnal_sid-512. I added my user to domainadmins. I set "admin users = @domainadmins" in my smb.conf, but I still do not have domain admin rights on workstations :( Any idea

OK, I've tried commenting the line out. Ran /etc/init.d/samba reload, but no change. Should I try a full server reboot then? covmat argument in princomp() (PR#3682)
R version: 1.7.1 OS: Red Hat Linux 7.2 When "covmat" is supplied in princomp(), the output value "center" is all NA's, even though the input matrix was indeed centered. I haven't read anything about this in the help file for princomp(). See code below for an example: pc2$center is all NA's. Jerome Asselin x <- rnorm(6) y <- rnorm(6) X <- cbind(x,y)

Swat, winbind, authentication, @DomainAdmins
Hi all, I have rather a perplexing question... I'm just setting up a new linux (Redhat 7.2) samba server with authentication using winbind and pam. Everything seems to be working well on the authentication side except in Swat. If I go to the machine ( http://machinename:901 <http://machinename:901> ) it pops up the authentication dialog which is obviously authenticating through

OK, I'm rebooting the server now. Removed that line first. SELinux and App Armour are not installed on the servers. Tested with the firewall down (iptables), ulimit is not being reached, still lots of memory and hard drive space available... Since it's the weekend, no one else is in the building except for me. Unexpected scores from weighted PCA with svyprcomp()
Hello! I'd like to create an assets-based economic indicator using data from a national household survey. The economic indicator is to be the first principal component from a principal components analysis, which (given the source of the data) I believe should take in consideration the sampling weights of the observations. After running the PCA with svyprcomp(), from the survey package, I

Samba-3.0.2 PDC LDAP: Add computer to domain issue with smbldap-tools
Hi guys, I've installed openldap-2.1.25 and Samba-3.0.2 and configured everything with no TLS on a Slackware-9.1 Linux box. To manage the LDAP backed I've used smbldap-tools-0.8.4. After populating the database with smbldap-populate I was able to first add users to /etc/passwd etc. and then to LDAP with smbldap-useradd -a and access the server via Windows PCs. Everything appeared to be
