Ext3 problems possibly plauging me
Hello. My box has been running flawlessly for months now, but in the last 2 days hasn't stayed up for more than 5 minutes. All this seemed to have started after I did a very very bad thing...... I ran the EXT2 to EXT3 conversion on my root filesystem. I used the "tune2fs -j /dev/sda1" to do the deed. After it completed the machine ran fine (the machine was up and serving when I

Really high load average. Config problem?
helo I am running samba on an 800 Duron / 640MB PC2100 DDR Ram / 40 GB IBM Deskstar with slackware 8 / 2.2.17 Optimized for Duron. Whenever I copy files to the server, my load average gets to be about 6.0-8.0! On the 700 Duron we have at the office where I work, (same specs except it has 768MB of SDRAM and a RAID Array). Would the reason my box runs so slow be because its swap drive and the

Cross Platform Mixers and LibAO
Hello Vorbis Developers. I'm in the proccess of writing an OggVorbis audio player using libao and libvorbisfile. I've greatly appreciated the simplicity of the API and good documentation with the souce of the libraries. I've descided that I really want a mixer on my player, and I'm unsure how to best go about it. LibAO (unless I'm absolutely blind) doesn't

Looking for IO equivelent to tcpdump
Okey, this might be considered slightly off topic, but I thought this would be a good place to ask. I've been having some problems on my workstation, where I see the disk being pounded away at, however I don't know whats causing it. No large disk transfers are (should) be happening during these times, no database reconstructs, not the dreaded "locatedb" updater, just X, a

SV: Samba + AD etc.
Hi Ross! All our windows-clients works well with Samba 3.0.14a (WinXP and TS 2003 sp1). Perhaps the changes made for ADS SP1 somehow can affect ADS 2003 (without sp1) in the same way that ADS 2003 sp1 did for our Samba 3.0.9. But that is only a wild guess. Regards Roland Carlsson Ps: please answer to the list instead to me. Den 05-05-12 11.00, skrev "sysrm"

Hardware opinions?
Hello, I am trying to build up a pretty meaty Asterisk box after doing our initial testing and playing on a 1ghz system. Right now I have decided on a prebuilt system which I normally don't do but thought it seemed like a good deal. I have included the initial specs below, I will be adding another 1 GB of RAM for a total of 2 GB. My first question is regarding the serial ATA drives... I

Centos locking up system with mptscsih driver error
I have a Tyan Tiger S2466 MPX motherboard with Dual Atlon MP 2800+ CPUs and 1GB PC2100 DDR SDRAM. For disk drive I have an LSI53C1030 and 4 Seagate ST336607LWs in a software raid 5 configuration. I installed Centos 4.1 and everything was fine running kernel-smp-2.6.9-11.EL. However when I upated to Centos 4.2 I have run into problems. Namely after a finite amount of disk traffic the system

IA64 Installation oddities
I've installed CentOS 4.6 on a Celestica IYA210 1U server. Configuration is 2GB PC2100 ECC, dual 1.4GHz Itanium 2 cpus, and various hard drives. The installer works great on 18GB, 36GB, and 73GB drives, however when I install to a 73GB drive there seems to be no functional /boot/efi that the system can map. Is this a system specific issue that I should ask about somewhere else? I'm

Wildcard X100P Choppy Sound and Chipmonk Recordings
Hello, I recently purchased a Wildcard X100P FXO Card primarily as a learning tool and to provide myself with voicemail and a few other perks that are better than an answering machine. I followed the setup in the FAQ, and it works, just not well. The sound is very choppy and staticy whenever a call is placed. Sometimes it clears up, and sometimes it degrades very badly. I also recently

Problems making use of 2K PDC
I'm having problems with samba using the 2K PDC. I've gotten it to successfully join the 2K PDC via smbpasswd. Winbindd is running and I can ping it. I've tried googling, but was unsuccessful at finding something useful. The Windows 2K event viewer shows: The session setup from the computer DATASRV failed to authenticate. The name of the account referenced in the security database is

Memory Management under Linux: Problems to allocate large amounts of data
Dear Group I'm still trying to bring many data into R (see older postings). After solving some troubles with the database I do most of the work in MySQL. But still I could be nice to work on some data using R. Therefore I can use a dedicated Server with Gentoo Linux as OS hosting only R. This Server is a nice machine with two CPU and 4GB RAM which should do the job: Dual Intel XEON 3.06 GHz

Hardware Recommendations
I'm sure this has been asked more times than anyone cares to count, but I want to make sure I get the right stuff. I'm installing Asterisk at home solely to play with and learn VoIP (plus it sounds pretty cool so it has that going for it too). Eventually all my phones (~4 of them) will go through my Asterisk system. I've ordered my server hardware, here's what I've got:

I have a dataseries obtained from a MS Access database that consists of a series of numbers seperated by carridge returns (\r) Currently this data is in R as mode numeric??? fsstat Provider
I''ve been playing with the fsstat provider lately. I''m curious why its gone undocumented and largely ignored (per google). I admit that I did experience some oddities with the data, so I''d also like to rule out whether or not it has problems which might have caused it to be left in quietly. benr.

MySQL THD via PID Provider
I want to go a lot deeper with my tracing of MySQL and to do so I want to look into MySQL Thread Descriptors (class THD). Inside is a great bulk of information utilized by a great many of the core functions within MySQL... I really want to get in there. So far I''ve had no luck though. It''s a C++ class, and I''m afraid that I''m approaching it like a C struct,
