"Point'n'Print" setup problems (2.2.8a & XP sp1)
Hi - I'm having trouble trying to get "Point'n'Print" working.
I (think I?) have set it up as per the HOW-TOs but here's what happens...
I login as "root" in the "MAXP" domain to the client (gservxp). I use
"Network Neighbourhood" to navigate to the server (lambada). I then open
up "Printers and Faxes" - just for info, the Add

OpenPVN authentication via Samba AD
I have it working but I struggled for a while before getting there.
Read this page:

Due to a bug in PHP, what you set in the LDAP page doesn't stick. You have
to go to the pfsense's console menu and press option 16 followed by option
11.

Redhat 8.0 and Samaba 2.2.5
First, let me apologize if this is a simple question, I am trying to get away from Microsoft and learn Linux.
In the past, on my Linux test server I have installed samba 2.2.3a and a seperate install of winbind for that same version.
I followed the directions I've seen posted and it all works well.
I tried to upgrade to 2.2.5 but winbind wouldnt work. So I went back down to 2.2.3a This was

Network Path could not be found on HP with XP
We have one brand new HP EPC-43 which can see all the Windows boxes, but
not the Samba shares on the Unix server. We have many other Windows
machines of all vintages including 95, 98, 98se, NT, 2000, ME and XP which
can see each other and the Samba server. The HP runs XP, but we have other
XP boxes which have no difficulty with Samba.
We have a simple network with no domain controller, just

[samba-users] Network Pblm with "misty" (XP Home SP3 )
In short this is the problem. The XP Home machine called
"misty" cannot see any other machines. It cannot see the Linux machines
and it cannot see the XP Home machines or the XP Pro machine. In spite
of this blindness it can map to all the XP machines and define so-called
network places. But "misty" cannot map through the SAMBA protocal used
by the Linux machines to make

Suppress only Z axis tick marks and numbers in wireframe statement
I actually have several questions revolving around the generation of
wireframe plots.
The most pressing is that which is described by the subject line.
I am trying to produce a figure with x, y, and z labels, but only tick marks
on the x, and y axes. I have supplied sample code below substituting the
volcano data set for my own such that you may run the code and see the
results.

Limit users storing BIG files
Hi All,
I am using Samaba for my network users and I run out of space soon as so
many users store BIG files on the share folders.
Is there a way to specify the max size for a file that can be stored using
Samaba?
Or At least max size for a folder will also help.

Read-only folders from XP Pro
Hi,
I'm using Samba 2.2.8a as PDC + file server in a LAN containing many
Win2000 Pro clients and one WinXP Pro client.
In a share I have some directories which are set to read-only by a script
on the Linux side, but any user can open up the folder properties on the
Windows client and remove the read-only attribute; this is ok, it's what I
want, and works perfectly on Win2000 clients. On

FreeBSD 4.x NT PDC authorization
Dear group,
I know this is not the first post related to
NT domain authentication with Samba. I actually
did manage to set up NT domain authentication on
a FreeBSD 5.4 using Samaba 3.0.12 based on infos
I mostly found here. I'm stuck however to get the same
thing working on a FreeBSD 4.11. The steps I've tried to
follow are described in the Samba Howto.

cli_pipe: return critical error. Error was Call returned zero byte (EOF), hilfe!
Hi Kurt,
I tried to explain my problem to you at Göttingen
but it looks like I'm the only one who gets this
error.
I've just reinstalled my box with SuSE 8.2, kernel
2.4.20-62, samba 2.2.8a, and cups 1.1.18, moved all
config files, databases, scripts and jobs to it and
it looks like samba has become even better and faster.
No one noticed anything wrong except I just can't come

smbmount and PCShare [Helios]
I tried to mount a PCShare file system with smbmount and was
surprised to see that there is a problem while writing files to the
mounted file system. I can read everything and move things an
make directories within the shared file system. But if I try to copy
a file from the local disk (LINUX SuSE 8.1) to the shared file
system I get an I/O error. I suppose that this is not a permission
