Add directory share without killing samba?
Is there a way that I can dynamically add a share point to the smb.conf file and not be forced to kill the smbd daemon and restart in order for it to be visible? Or is this such a simple thing I'm blind and can't see it in any FAQ I read? :-) Thanks! Ryan

[LLVMdev] Rendering MachineFunctions as HTML.
Hi All, I've developed a pass to render machine functions as HTML pages with some accompanying information about liveness and register pressure. Current features: Renders machine functions, optionally displaying estimated register pressure for selected register classes, and liveness for selected intervals. The following command line options can be used to enable and customise the

LAN team says I have 2 IP's w/1 MAC address, but I have 2 cables with 2 separate IP's. What gives?
I'm really, REALLY hoping someone can shed some light on this. I posted something similar about this but I got more confusing info from my LAN people. The hardware is a Soyo K-333 Dragon MB running SuSE 8.0 w/Apache2 & Samba. I have 2 NIC's, the onboard NIC and a D-Link 530TX+ card. I have two IP addresses, 155.16.78.54 & .55 on eth0 I get lots of collisions, errors, etc., and

IO: streaming input data
Hello - I need to read in some tables that are embedded within data files like this: line 1 line 2 data table 01000 10110 00011 end table line 3 line 4 Is there any way to read just the data by telling an input device to start reading when it encounters the keyword "data table" and stop reading at "end table"? Bessel function
Dear all Currently, I'm implementing the generalized hyperbolic distribution into Splus. Unfortunately the Bessel function is not implemented in Splus. In R the Bessel function does exist but it is an internal function and I'm not able to look at the code. Is there any possibility to see the code of the Bessel function in R or does anybody has an implementation of the Bessel function in

2.0.12 ipwd.c does not compile under solaris
the new src/lib/ipwd.c introduced in 2.0.12 no longer compiles on solaris. Under solaris, the *_r routines doesn't pass in result as the last parameter and return errno - it just returns result. obviously a job for configure..... -- Roger Fujii<rmf at lookhere.com>

Samba as domain member server cannot authenticate users
This problem was already described on a very similar way in Oct 2004 on the following message: [http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-October/094683.html] As no solution was found so far, I am re-posting it on the hope that somebody can help. ================================================= Situation: - A windows2000 domain with active directory up and running. - A Samba server with

Multiple computers using same Wine installation?
Hey guys, I have two Linux computers. I'd like to make it so that regardless of which Linux computer I'm sitting at, I can fire up Quicken (via Wine). Specifically, I want to access the same set of Quicken data files regardless of which Linux computer I'm sitting at. (I can be self-disciplined to only have Wine running on one computer at a time.) Does Wine support this? If so, would

Questions for minimal AD DC, DNS setup and Posix use
Our plan is to have one AD DC running in Head Office, RODC's at Branches and a second writeable DC at a contingency site. Fileshares will run on separate servers. The Windows 2003/2008 Servers use authentication services from samba4 and run applications. Our current environment is Samba-3.6.9 PDC,BDCs & fileshares, openldap stores samba, posix and acts as heimdal backend - for SSO. My

Different y-axes
Hi All, I have checked everything I could find abot graphics, but still cannot solve the problem. Are there any ways to make a graph that plots two lines and two different y-axes, each of them has a scale that is related to the respective line. For example, y1 has a range 1:50 and y1 ranges 0:1. The x-axe is the same for both. Thank you in advance. --- Gregor Gawron

Fileshares failing
Hi, I used to have a set of samba shares working fine on a Centos 4 machine, accessed by XP clients and authenticated against a 2003 SBS server. Then I did a yum upgrade and a week later noticed that the seldom-used SMB shares have stopped working. No other changes to the Centos server, and no domain changes. The XP clients now just keep prompting for authentication. A wireshark trap shows

name mangling makes 8.3 unreadable unlike Windows fileserver
Hi, I'm cross-posting here from serverfault.com in case anyone can help. I just found a similar question on askubuntu.com also without an answer. Switched recently from W2K3 to Samba4.0.9/CentOS6.4 for our fileshare for WinXP clients. Have an ancient (1995!) piece of software that uses 8.3 filename format. After the switch, long filenames became useless in the context of the

Samba and " (and maybe other characters) in paths/files
Hello I have samba installed on my server, with a fileshare. When connecting to samba, using windows, filesnames with " (double quotes) in them become gibberish on the windows client. Under linux I connect to these fileshares using NFS, and the names are correct (I also created them this way). I've made a screenshot: http://users.webmind.be/~glenn/samba.PNG How can I fix this?

Samba4 on CentOS 6.3 - IPTABLES how-to???
Hello, I do appologize if this is something that was already discussed somewhere else... but for now I was not able to find the appropriate How-To. Would anybody know what the IPTABLES entries are to have working Samba4 Domain Controller? I tried the following: -A INPUT -p tcp -m state --state NEW -m tcp --dport 88 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p tcp -m state --state NEW -m tcp --dport 749 -j ACCEPT -A
