Cannot list directory with smbclient
I'm using BackupPC to back up a windows server 2008 R2 machine using smb (which invokes the smbclient program). I'm aware that junction points give errors during the backup as in NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Documents and Settings\* but I'm fine with that. The problem I'm having is not about a junction point, but with a normal directory. This directory is not being backed

[bug?] smbclient does not honour '-s' option
Hi, 'smbd' and 'nmbd' do behave well however 'smbclient' does not, so some of the other binaries neither i suppose. Running 'smbclient -s /etc/samba-pdc/config' gives me: params.c:OpenConfFile() - Unable to open configuration file "/opt/samba-3.0.0beta3/lib/smb.conf": No such file or directory bin/smbclient: Can't load

smbclient Version 4.13.2 Crashes on Fedora 33
Have been working this on the BackupPC users and Fedora mailing lists, but it's looking more like a general problem in Samba utility, 'smbclient.' BackupPC is a backup server package that uses Samba, rsync, and other protocols to backup clients, including Windows PC's. Basically, it runs a command like this for a SMB backup of a PC: /usr/bin/smbclient \\\\new-pelican\\C\$ -U

Updated from 2.2.8a to 3.0b3 gives smbtar newer failure
Hi all, Situation: We use smbtar for backups, incrementals done using -N <last date file>, and this has worked well with samba 2.2.x After upgrading to 3.0b3, using the -N (newer) option to smbtar causes a bad interaction with smbclient. Eg,: # smbtar -s PC -x Share -u User -p Pwd -d / -t - -N last-backup -v gives (if you print out the eval at the end of smbtar script): eval

HPUX 10.20 and OpenSSH 3.4.p1
Hello, over the last few days I've been attempting to compile openssh-3.4p1 on a HP j5000 (hpux 10.20) but have run into some problems. I had found the paper from Kevin Steves and have been following his suggested steps. Perl, zlib, prngd, tcp_wrappers and openssl all compiled more or less as he described. The configure script runs without protest but make gets hung up in

How to include system files with smbtar?
Hi, I recently upgraded to 1.9.18p8, and noticed that smbtar no longer automatically includes system files. I can't seem to find a way to include the 'tarmode system' command in the smbtar shell script. If I add a -c "tarmode system" to the $SMBCLIENT command line at the end of the smbtar shell script, I get no tarred files at all. Can anybody help me with this?

Joining Samba4 to Win 2008 AD domain breaks other kerberos functions
Samba expects the keytab file as /etc/krb5.keytab. Solaris 11 looks for a keytab file in /etc/krb5/krb5.keytab When samba joins the domain it (probably) updates the machine password and then updates its krb5.keytab file. When connecting via ssh, the system would use a keytab file that had the wrong kvno and probably the wrong password key. The following symlink command fixed ssh

Joining Samba4 to Win 2008 AD domain breaks other kerberos functions
I have a Windows 2008 domain (one Win 2008 DC, one Win 2012 R2 DC.) I am trying to join a Solaris 11 machine to the domain for both Samba and other services. For "unix" logins and ssh, Solaris 11 is configured to use LDAP for user and group lookup and kerberos for authentication. The "kclient -T ms_ad" command joins the Solaris machine to the AD domain. It even

Linux to Windows Tinc Issue
Hello, I am having troubles with the following configuration in that it produces the following errors: *Masterserver:* On the server (yea, I know) side is a Linux machine called "*masterserver*". It should have a VPN IP of 192.168.2.1 and it sits behind a pretty generic ADSL Router (with port 655 forwarded) which can be found via a dynamic host address. A small snippet of errors this

Basic configuration problem
Hello, I have been reading through the documentation and trying to set up a very small VPN as a test for a larger rollout that I would like to complete in the future but cannot get this working. The configuration seems like it should be relatively simple, so I'm most likely missing something basic but I just cannot see what I'm doing wrong. At the moment I am trying to get this working

Dovecot over NFS
I'm playing with running dovecot over NFS and I am running into some issues. I have followed the guide at http://wiki2.dovecot.org/NFS and my setup includes 1 nfs server and 1 client running postfix/dovecot. In testing I am running postal via the command: postal -t 10 -c 10 localhost users399 The test file has a list of 399 users to deliver to. I've provided a sample of the errors
