Samba3 + LDAP - w2k says it couldn't change password (but it did)
Hello,
I have a following test environment:
1) Samba PDC + OpenLDAP Slave (192.168.1.2)
2) OpenLDAP Master (192.168.1.1).
Whatever is changed/added on the Master, it gets replicated to Slave.
Now, when a user is logged in, and tries to change the password - he/she must supply the old password, and twice new one (normal behaviour).
After pressing OK the user is said that the password

w2k + xp clients password change freezes the client
Hi.
I've a problem changing the password of the domain user directly from
the windows client by using strg+alt+del.
If I try to change the password, the client freezes for several minutes
and after this amount of time
a popup appears with this error: The DOMAIN isn't available.
In the the samba logs I see this error:

Pseudo-GPO Support for Samba
I have a bunch of W2K clients on my network and I want to be able to use
GPOs, but REFUSE to go the M$ route ;-)
Since GPOs are essentially registry entries, it might be somewhat easy
to implement a simple program that could give admins that fine-grain
control that is missing from NT4-style .pol files.
What I would like to propose is a simple Win32 executable that could
read from an

Hello,
We are trying to figure out how to preserve the low-frequency content when
we try to convert a .wav file to an .opus file. What settings in Opus that
can accomplish this?

Thank you and best regards.
Problem:

W2K workstations remains connected do samba server at port 139, even

possibility do control (even no fail proof) simultaneous logins.

Samba as a PDC for W2K Network
Hi all. I hope someone here can help me with a bit of trouble I seem to be
having with Samba and Windows 2000. Here's the deal:
We are attempting to setup a Red Hat 7.3 machine (SYMPHONY2) running Samba
2.2.3a to act as a File Server and PDC for a number of Windows 2000
workstations. I have followed the instructions from
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html but

W2K Office97 File Open or Save problem
Hi all
I have a Samba 2.2.2-3.2mdk build running on 8.1 Mandrake. All the Win9x
clients work fine. The Win2k clients also work fine except that from
within Word or Excel they can't use file open or file save. When trying
to open or save a file on a drive that is mapped to the Samba share then
the app says that the user does not have enough privileges on drive x:

Some files always copied to W2K system
I am copying from a rsync --daemon
(have tried from both W2K/cygwin & Linux daemons) to a W2K machine.
Some files get copied every time even though they haven't been touched
since the last copy. I have experimented and deturmined that the file
size seems to be important. If the file is between 926 & 933 bytes
long it will always be copied!! Other sizes and possibly other aspects of

Samba and W2K AD
Hello All,
Your typical problem....I am trying to configure Samba-3.0.2-6.3E
on RedHat Linux. I have spent days trying to get this working. What I
would like to do is provide the ability to connect to Samba shares from
Windows, more specific, WinXP. What I want to avoid is having to manage
user accounts on both the Windows or AD side and the Unix side, thus
having authentication handled by

machine account with w2k
Dear Samba Friends,
I've a problem to join with Windows2000-Clients a Samba-PDC.
When I join the samba-pdc with a WinNT4.0-Client it is no problem, first
I create a machine-account for the machine:
1. in /etc/group exists the group: machines:x:515:
2. useradd -g machines -d /dev/null -c nickname -s /bin/false neuch205$
3. pdbedit -a -m -u neuch205
In this way, it isn't a problem to join

Samba & W2k login
Hi!
I'm having little trouble with my W2K installation: every time I log in, it
says that incorrect password when trying to automatically reconnect to Samba
shares. After typing in password, everything works.
Is it Windozw or Samba password settings? No clue said Sherlock...

mount problem with ext3,ext2
I have compiled 2.4.5 and patched the src rpms for e2fsprogs01.20 and
util-linux 2.11b. I can boot with ext3 as my filesystem type in fstab and
fsck doesn't seem to mind it or ext3,ext2 but mount from util-linux chokes on
having ext3,ext2 in fstab during bootup or later manually.
Anyone have any ideas?
I am running RedHat 7.1
Thanks,
Bill

Dear Group,
I have been working very hard for the last 3 days trying to get my W2K
To join a Samba Domain. I have tried it seems like everything to do it
and it won't go. I really think its something simple but I don't know
how to fix it.
The error I get is this one from W2k when trying to join the samba
domain.

Having combed through the changefile from kernel.org it seems to me that

Samba server visibility
I must be missing something somewhere. I can't get our Samba server
to show up when I look in Network Neighborhood under XP. If I type in
\\servername\path, it won't find it, however if I use the IP, it works fine.
Now, experience tells me that I'm having to type the IP because it's
not resolving the name. Well fine, I can fix that, however I don't
recall doing that

SAMBA 3 as PDC - W2K/WXP Pro logon trouble
I have a Samba 3 PDC running with an LDAP backend on Red Hat 8. All
authentication appears to be working correctly but I can't login to the
domain from a W2K or WXP Pro workstation after I have successfully joined
them to the domain. If I login locally to the workstation I can browse the
Samba shares just fine. I have checked the schannel and sign or seal
settings on both the workstations
