2.2.8a-1, Raidzone, filesize > ~17.6GB
I am working with a Raidzone tech to solve a problem with our Raidzone NAS. The tech told me he has not yet posted to any Samba list about this, and gave me permission to do so. Using XCOPY from either NT4SP6a or W2KSP3, over varying network paths, a file of 18,490,235K-1 bytes or smaller will copy to the NAS successfully in about 45 minutes, but a file of 18,490,256K-1 bytes or larger will

RAIDZONE - offtopic
Hi, folks, I'm busy getting ready to surplus an old RAIDZONE - the model is listed as "RDZEXT". Has anyone dealt with them? I've just taken care of the 15 drives in it, but I need to know if there's an *internal* drive that I have to take the box apart to get at. mark

Simplest script to backup many Linux servers
Okay, I've been lurking on this list for several weeks and have finally gotten rsync to work well when transferring files from one box to another. It is really great for passing lots of files from one machine to another, i.e. ripped MP3 to my home Linux machine, as one example. Now I am ready to take the next big step. I have a large 1.5 terabyte server from Raidzone that I have NFS mounted

Centos 4.1 & ReiserFS
Hi, I'm upgrading my mail server tomorrow from CentOS 3 to CentOS 4.1. And I'd like to use ReiserFS this time around since everyone says it performs much better with smaller files (all the mail is in Maildir's instead of mbox'es). Right now I have a pretty basic filesystem layout: /boot, swap, and /. Am I making the correct assumption that I can't install CentOS with

NTLMv2 - wrong password with samba?
I have samba 3.0.14-5 installed (installed via Fedora Core 4's Yum) I have enabled "client NTLMv2 auth = yes" in smb.conf When I run "ntlm_auth --username=user --domain=MYDOM" it connects fine (change user and MYDOM to be my user and my domain) When I run "ntlm_auth --username=user --domain=MYDOM --diagnostics" it fails on all tests with "wrong password"

What are the options for HA and\or replication and\or storage?
I am considering couple options of converting a current service into a HA using multi servers or any other solutions. The point is that I am thinking about the options and which I am looking for. NFS can be a storage which has it's own pros and cons. There is the option of DRBD but as of now it's limited for two hosts. What options do exist out-there as a solution? The main issues are

To ext3 or not to ext3?
I'm in the process of building a home file server and am of course going to use Linux 2.4 (2.4.6 for now...). I'm waffling between resierfs and ext3. I've read the ext3 page and some of the mailing list archives but have a few questions remaining. (I apologize in advance if they are redundant.) Are there any known issues with: - LVM - LVM snapshots (more on that in a sec) -

What project should I use ?
I am going to list my current plans for rebuilding a Law Firm?s network. I hope that someone will be able to tell me which project (samba or samba-tng) would be a better choice, or if staying with MS is the only choice. If my plan could be changed for the better, input would be greatly appreciated: A lot of this information is useless for my questions, but I am throwing it in anyway. --------

SAN Devices
Anyone out there using small-midsized (2-4 TB) SAN solution among multiple Asterisk systems? I don't have the budget for an EMC-caliber solution, and can't seem to find much else out there. FSCK of corrupted ext3 filesystem
Hello, I have a 1.3TB ext3 filesystem that has been in service for about 3 months. About 6 days ago the Emulex fibrechannel controller logged a SCSI error and the filesystem changed to RO. It appears that the filesystem instantly changes to RO and prevents the journal from working, therefore invalidating the filesystem. The filesystem was unmounted and a remount was attempted. The mount failed

Hello All. Is there a kernel module or something that can be yum'd on centos 4.4 to get rieserfs support? mixing ext3 and reiserfs on slackware 10
Will I run into any problems mixing ReiserFS and ext3 on my slackware linux box? I'm using ReiserFS and LVM on the current version, thinking of mixing it up a bit with slackware 10, again with LVM. Thanks for any advice! ===== Christopher Mark Conn http://storm.cadcam.iupui.edu/~cmcgoat Austin, Texas, USA

reiserfs and ext3 in 2.2.20
I am trying to compile 2.2.20 with both ext3 and reiserfs (to easily migrate from reiserfs to ext3 :-) All patches merge nicly, but compile fails because "buffer_journaled" is defined by both reiserfs and ext3. I looked at the "2.2.14 ext3 + reiserfs incompatibility"-thread on the kernel list and figured out that renaming "buffer_journaled" in fs/buffer.c and

I'll be generating a new patchset this weekend. Actually if you dont fix recovery.c it will hang the machine when you mount an fs that needs recovering. With the old patches at least umount of ext3 seems fine as is. Alan

Export knfsd/ext3 on doubly patched kernel(knfsd/reiserfs) OK?
Hi - if I have a doubly patched kernel (2.4.5) (1) Apply gkernel/CVS ext3 patches (2) Apply Neil Brown/Reiserfs team knfsd and reiserfs patches Will ext3 be exportable by knfsd (i.e. inherit automagically the nfsd_operations thingies from ext2) or does it need further patching? -- Chan Shih-Ping (Richard) <cshihpin@dso.org.sg> DSO National Laboratories 20 Science Park Drive

ReiserFS - status?
Hi All. What is the status of ReiserFS in CentOS at the moment? I have some servers which use it as a loadable kernel module. I am thinking about a filesystem for database systems and would like to know if ReiserFS will be maintained in CentOS/Linux kernel in the future? Best regards, Rafal.
